At GDC it was reported that; to quote Phil Harrison

"in-game advertsieing will play an very significant role in the Playstation 3's life"

Some see this as a horrid, damming, terrible turn of events.

I see it as an opprotunity to further enhanche the realisum of video games.

Let's take F-1 as an example.

Any racing game is already going to be loaded with in-game advertiseing, but by using proper management it could become a new, exciteing, and possibly essential part of gameplay.

Let's start by addressing where the ads should go.

To find the best place to put these ads we must ask; whats the focus of a raceing game?

The answer; the cars.

By putting them on the cars it's assured that at some point the ad will be seen.And this also offers the consumer a great deal of customization opitons.

The companies placing the ads could be player's sponsors.The palyer gets to chose where to put these ads or he/she can choose not to use them at all.

By letting the player chose what they want and don't want on their vehicles another factor comes into play; Personal Preferance.

Lets say two of the sponsors you can chose from are Pepsi and Coke.Which ever company the player likes better is the one he/she is gonna choose.Then they are going to put that logo right where everyone can see it to show that they support that particular company.(This assures the add is seen.)

Now there needs to be some wort of pay-off to letting these companies advertise all over you car.

Mabey every time you win a race a small sum of money is paid to you by your sponsors, this would increase the number of people who have sponsors significantly.

Every time you loose however the sponsor may pay you alot less, or nothing at all.You may even loose the sponsor
