Survivor

In my honest opinion Survivor keeps getting better. The two seasons that aired during 2005/2006 (Guatemala & Panama:Exile Island), have been really good, and if we add Palau, Survivor has aired 3 very good seasons in a row. Many people say that this theme where you drop 16/18 Americans on a deserted part of the world and watch them outplay/outwit/outlast everybody for $1m is growing old. However, the fans of Survivor feel that this show is better every season and it's not by luck that it has been renewed through it's 14th edition.

The Amazing Race

Even though I am a die hard Amazing Race fan I have to say that the last 2 seasons have been the worst of the 9. Season 8 was the family edition which was by far the worst season in Amazing Race history. Season 9 is better but is still below average. I just hope season 10 will see The Amazing Race return to it's roots and be the best reality show once again.

Desperate Housewives

Desperate Housewives was one of the biggest hits of last season but the fans of DH have been left largely disappointed by the second season of the show. Don't get me wrong it was still good but not quite as good as the first season was. I can't quite explain why but I think that the scripts are not that imaginative as last year or perhaps all the Wisteria Lane secrets and deceptions were revealed last season. The second part of the season was the worse in my opinion mainly because it focused on just Susan and Bree and shifted the attention from others such as Mike & Tom & Lynette. I hope the last few episodes of the season will be better and that season 3 will be as good as season 1 was.

Lost

The disappointment of the season in my book. I was hooked on Lost from the very first episode and through the whole of Season 1 which was fantastic. I thought that Lost was the best show to premiere after 24 some 4 years ago. However, after a great season 1 finale, the second season did not live up to the expectations of Lost fans. Some things that irritated me were,

• The way Shannon was killed off. I mean come on do you kill off a cast regular just like that? I felt nothing during that scene, not nearly as what we felt when Boone died. I even felt sadder when Artz died last season!
• The introduction of the new characters. I really do not like any of them except Eko. Eko was a huge success and I recognise that but the rest are a failure. Bernard is just there doing nothing, I hate Ana-Lucia (perhaps because I don't like neither Michelle Rodriguez nor the attitude she brings into her roles) and I feel nothing for Libby either (even though we saw in recent episodes she could be important).
• The way some of my favorite characters have been put on the side. Charlie, Sawyer & Sayeed have barely featured during the course of the season with the main focus on Locke, Jack, Kate and the hatch.

I just hope that the finale will be great to compensate for the below par season.

Stargate Atlantis

What a great season for Stargate Atlantis! The season premiere and finale were simply fantastic, the finale even better than the Season 1 finale. The premiere (Siege Part 3) was a great end to a mini trilogy which concluded with the "Atlantians" saving their city and making contact with Earth. When Ford was turned into half human-half Wraith i thought they'd never find someone else to replace him but Ronon was a very good addition to the cast of the show giving something different to the team. Furthermore, Beckett was promoted to series regular and had much more screen time. A great season led to the final episode which was fantastic, leaving all SA fans counting the days to the premiere of Season 3. This show is here to stay!

Now that the season draws to a close I decided to review all of the shows I've been watching over the last few months, starting with the rookie shows..

My Name Is Earl

I never thought I'd like this show, or any similar to it. However, My Name Is Earl is the best sitcom I've watched in years, possibly the best after Friends ended. The concept of the show is quite simplistic and a little bit stupid but the show itself is very good. What makes Earl such a hit is the great cast, namely Jason Lee and Ethan Suplee as well as the others, but the chemistry between those two is truly great. Overall the first season was great and I can't wait for the season finale and then the second season. I cannot help but wonder though what they'll do when he runs out of "things on his list"..but I'm sure he'll never run out..

Prison Break

Prison Break is the best rookie show and one of the best shows on TV. The concept and storylines are fantastic and the cast is just great. Prison Break is a unique show, not resembling any other show and it brings something different for all those Action/Adventure fans sick of shows like Alias/24 etc. Prison Break manages to give that all-out action feeling leaving you on the edge of your seat for the whole hour it runs. The amazing cast of the show have greatly helped the producers cause. Wentworth Miller and Dominic Purcell are two great actors that share a good chemistry on screen and have delivered some excellent performances. Furthermore, an all-star cast consisting of Peter Stormare, Robert Knepper and Amaury Nolasco among others has made Prison Break an instant hit. The season finale will ROCK!!

Rome

I didn't like the idea of a show focusing on the Roman Empire from the very start but I really wanted to see what caused HBO to cancel Carnivale. I was extremely dissapointed by what I saw, Rome is not what it should be. The lack of action and the middle-aged cast of English people in ancient Rome are out of the main factors I decided against watching the whole season. Carnivale was definately a superior show and it should have never been replaced by something like this..
