For those of you that have not played Call of Duty 4 on Veteran the very last level Epilogue and the achievement that goes with it must have been designed by Satan. I mean they give you a whole minute to complete the level; that should be plenty of time since all I have to do is run n gun, right? Well after two hours of running and gunning and feeling my left arm go numb because my insides are boiling with rage - I'm ready to give this one a break. For those of you that have completed this challenge, I congratulate you, there are plenty of achievements that require large investments of time but this one is pure skill. Well pure skill and a little help from your squads AI because hopefully they kill the one terrorist on the right side of the room while you just kill the 5 or 6 on your side. It's only 20 points but it made the rest of the game look like a cake walk.
I can finally blog again, thank you GlitchSpot! Well the busy holiday season has finally come to an end and all the relatives have gone back home. Now its time to spend all the Best Buy gift cards I received. I have $600 but I'm not sure if I should buy the 40gig or the 80gig PS3. I'm not a fan of Spider-Man 3 and I already played MotorStorm but it gets boring after a week. Maybe I'll wait until they release a PS3 with the new/old rumble controller (I hate the idea of having an obsolete controller for a system I just bought). For now I have my brand new PSP and plenty of games to keep me busy for a few months. I just started playing Jeanne D'Arc last night and that game rocks.
So over the weekend my friends and I had a Halo 3 LAN party and we ended up beating the game in four player co-op. The four player campaign was amazing and the most fun I've had playing a multi-player game. I had a blast but now in retrospect I'm a little disappointed because it made me change my mind about buying an Xbox 360 before a PS3.
Personally Halo 3 was one of the major selling points for buying a 360 but now I feel satisfied just knowing I finished the game. While multi player on Xbox live does add replay value it's been there done that for myself. The old formula worked well but it's getting a bit tired and I want something new. Graphics were good but not spectacular and game play seemed solid but not fresh. Overall the game suffered from being over hyped, I know a few people that treated the September 25th release date as a holiday.
After looking at what the Xbox 360 and the PS3 have to offer I believe I'm ready to purchase a PS3 early next year. I waited years for Halo 3 to come out and was ready to drop five hundred dollars in September but after playing a few times on a friends 360 I know this isn't the game I was waiting for. Combine my disappointment for Halo 3 with the reliability problems of the Xbox 360 and I'm left with the decision to choose the PS3 as my next console. Sony seems to have more to offer in terms of long lasting support, just look at the PS2; it's still selling well and games are still in development for it. It's even getting a redesign and a price drop early next year. Once Microsoft had the 360 in the market all support for the Xbox went out the window. I can't even buy a brand new S-controller for the original Xbox without going to Amazon and having to pay above retail.
I know that eventually I'll own both of these systems but I have to question if its really worth it? The trend from game developers such as EA, Capcom and Rockstar to name a few release games across multiple platforms to generate the greatest amount of profit. It seems likethe days of the exclusive killer app are almost at an end with the exclusion of Sony and Microsoft for obvious reasons. The real question is who makes a better game then - Sony or Microsoft but as far as I can tell they both do. For now I'll wait for another price drop before buying a 360 and I'm going to bite the bullet and get a PS3 after the holidays.
