Ha, both me and you. I went camping as well and went river rafting down the American River and got completely demolished by the sun. I even covered myself with sunblock prior but it didn't do squat. Doesn't help that my tatoo was in the sun that much either. The sun is bad for tatoos.

Yeah camping is great, I don't usually get burned though. I got sunburned a while back at Mayhem Festival. Was in the sun from 2:00pm to sundown, living in New Mexico at high elevation doesn't help either. I put some suncreen but I got a light sunburn on my face, which is already pretty much healed. I have long hair (the metal made me do it!) and I forgot about my hairline, that got sunburned bad.

sun burns suck. I should know I am really pale and my acne medicine increases the change I get them.

Sunburns are not fun. I've had some pretty nasty ones in my day. I live on the beach after all. The bad ones itch very bad. Rub some dirt on it and you'll be alright.

Ah, sunburns. I had some pretty ugly ones when I was younger : outside playing with friends but forget about the sun shining merciless the entire day. My shoulders and neck were my weak spots, it hurt a lot. Good luck with your sunburn

I have only been burned like that once in my life and that is all it took to never do it again! Now I wear super 45 sunscreen all of the time!

You should really get a doctor to look at that sunburn. Getting bad sunburns like that can increase the risk of skin cancer, and that's a nasty way to go. Also, for the next time you go camping, I'd suggest digging a moat around your tents. It should keep the water from flooding your tents. You could also try putting water proof tarps over your campsite to keep the rain off, as long as they're at an angle, so the wind won't take them. My family went camping in Florida, for a few months, and we ended up camping during rainy season. Now, that was nasty. It could've been worse, if we hadn't prepared for it with the moat and the tarps. I was lucky my dad was at one time a boy scout. Their motto is "Always be prepared", and its definitely a good rule for camping.

Ouch about the sunburn. I had a sunburn from a beach trip several months ago and the itch was unbearable. Hopefully you didn't get it that bad.

Just letting you know that my sunburn went away and it doesn't hurt or itch no more. but I'm going camping this weekend again (and I make sure I have enough sunscreen!).

Yeah bivouacking is zealous, I don't ordinarily get turn tho'. I got sunburned a while back at Disturbance Fete. Was in the sun from 2:00pm to sundown, experience in New Mexico at sopranino rising doesn't better either. I put any suncreen but I got a combust erythema on my approach, which is already pretty often healed. I hold longest cloth (the alloy made me do it!) and I forgot around my hairline, that got sunburned bad. ==========================
