1. The first song is 'Life's Metaphor'.  When AI wrote the lyrics, I felst closer to God.  I was still quite sick with schizophrenia.  Perhaps, I needed God more at that time.  If you are willing to look, one can see metaphors in everything God has created.

2.'Island' is a reworked prose poem.  The prose poem was written in 1988 for a psychology class in Red Deer College (Alberta, Canada).  The prose poem is a free association piece and it revealed I had taught myself to not care anymore and, because of that, I could no longer do my best.  The music was written by Don Noon and I.

3. 'Sloop John B' has been a favourite folk song  ever since choir in grades five and six.  This is similar to the Beach Boys' version except I sing 'broke in the captain's rum while the Beach Boys sang, "The first mate, he got drunk and broke in the captain's trunk".

4. The lyrics for 'Relapse' were written for Prosper Place Clubhouse (a place for people with mental disabilities).  I was asked to write a poem about my disability for a community event featuring Prosper Place.  At first, I did not want to write the poem because I did not want to give in to or admit that I had a disability.  The song is an attempt at spoken word poetry.

5.  'Winter Captures Us Again' is a song I wrote while trying to concentrate on some accounting homework.  (I failed that accounting assignment).  The song reminds me to not be too shy when around beautiful people.

6 The first time I heard Johnny Cash's 'Folsom Prison Blues' was in the Commercial Hotel here in Edmonton.  The singer really played up the line "I killed a man just to watch him die".  I thought the singer was a bit crazy, but it is a great blues tune, isn't it?

7.  'Let It B' was written by Paul McCartney and John Lennon.  John Lennon said Paul wrote the tune to answer APaul Simon's "A Bridge Over Troubled Waters".

8. 'House of Blues' is supposed to get my guitarists to dust off their guitars so we could create a synergy.  I alsways hoped we could be like Mick Jagger and Keith Richards.

9. When I sing 'Dreaming Of A Man In Rags', I picture a black man walking the streets of an inner city and how alone one can feel when your dreams have died.  The dream that died for me was achieving an accounting designation.  Luckily, new dreams grew like a phoenix being reborn.  Long live Rock 'n' Roll!

10. 'Still Alive' is a fun song.  The 'video camera in your eyeglasses' line was borrowed from Paul Simon's "Be careful, his bowtie is really a camera".  "Gotta feeling" was borrowed from Paul McCartney on the 'Let It Be' album.

Hopefully, in the Spring of 07', my novel called 'The Long Way Home' will come out. It is about someone with schizophrenia who has the delusion he is going to be the next king of rock 'n' roll. It is a comedy and attempts to show that someone with a mental illness can live a fulfilling life despite the extra obstacles. I, also, hope to show teenagers and twenty -somethings some of the symptoms of schizophrenia which could help them and their friends. They may see the symptoms in their friends which could help in an early diagnosis. The earlier the diagnosis the better for a full recovery. And finally, I hope you will enjoy the story.
