After countless amounts of posting editorials, I have finally hit the jackpot and one look at my emblems will tell you just that. I have to say, its a great feeling and one that I will remember for many years to come. With that, I would like to take this time to thank you, my friends that is, for whom this would not have been possible without your support and feedback. The following users deserve my utmost thanks for inspiring me to write blogs in the first place:

pakhair

From your well written blogs to your dedication in commenting on all your friends blogs, you are the guy who is never short on things to say. The fact that I haven't read a short blog from you is testament to this. Also, your views on gaming is often at times spot on and your attention to detail in your blogs is one that admire and grew inspiration from.

hazelnutman

HECK YES! You are truly a unique individual who posts the zaniest and funniest blogs I have ever came across in my time at GS. Every blog that you write is filled to the brim with awesome details and is never ever short on the funnies.

Trivia: hazelnutman is known to tie ribbons on his beloved games and make love to them.

With that out of the way; here is my monthly blog written with a whole lot of love just for you. Yes, I know its a little late! As always, you can expect me to feature only the highlights that went through the month and boy is this edition feature packed.

Games Played

Batman Arkham Asylum

With Urban Chaos being Rocksteady's only developed game, surely this game wouldn't turn out to be a stellar hit let alone the return to form of the series, I thought back in the day. And I couldn't be any more wrong as Arkham Asylum delivers in abundance, from its superb voice acting to its intuitive fighting mechanic, its production values sets the benchmark for other license games to follow. How good is this game, well let's just say that, I immediately started the game again upon completing it, its that good.

tag

"This is how you do the one, two step!"

Written by Paul Dini, Batman Arkham Asylum is based on the comic books and it begins with the Joker who has been captured and sent to the asylum to be locked away. It turns out that the Joker intends to create an army of Bane-like creatures from within the Asylum and use them to wreck terror onto Gotham City. Before Batman realises the Joker's elaborate plans, all hell breaks loose with his escape and the Joker goes on to release the inmates of the Asylum. What happens next, well play the game to find out.

Professor Layton and the Diabolical Box

Mind numbing puzzles infused in a point and click game, the Professor Layton franchise has become a sleeper hit that should be played by puzzle fans and non-fans alike. If you thought the first game was great, the Diabolical Box offers no less and with harder puzzles and more cutscenes included in this offering, its just that much harder to put down.

tag

"You Jill, the master of unlocking take this...Oh wait!"

The game follows Professor Layton and Luke as they travel across the country to solve the mystery of the Diabolical Box, a strange box which is said to kill anyone who opens it. As always, you can expect to be engrossed in its well written story and with the game clocking in at over ten hours to boot, you will be hard pressed to find any niggling issues from this game. Did I mention that you could also download weekly puzzles from the game, well all the more reason to get the game.

Movies Watched

The Final Destination 3D

tag

"Steer clear of this one, boys."

As with all the Final Destination movies, one cannot cheat death and even when you do beat the Grim Reaper, it will always come back, unless you break the chain that is. I have to say that this latest and hopefully last entry in the series is a letdown in all regards, as it clearly is mindless and the inspired death scenes leaves a lot to be desired. While the movie starts off rather well with its trademark carnage and gore, the ending is just so lame that it left me and other patrons fuming at how bad it was. With that, I only recommend it to Final Destination and gore fans. Others, steer clear of this one.

Gurren Lagann

tag

What can I say, this anime just screams fun and amazing action all the same. You may recall that Roman_Irishman's recent blog That top's a bit much for your age.-Sorry I couldn't find anything to hold them in! featured a summary on Yoko and upon reading it, my interest was piqued and I immediately bought the anime. If robot fighting and great comedy is what you are looking for, you can't go wrong with Gurren Lagann.

G.I. Joe: The Rise of Cobra

After Transformer's The Revenge of the Fallen left a bad aftertaste in my mouth, I approached this movie with low expectations as I expected the former film to be one of the better movies of the year. I have to say that G.I. Joe was a lot better and the fact that it didn't have the lowbrow humor of Revenge of the Fallen, I came out psyched and satisfied after watching this action extravaganza.

good blog
Posted Sep 8, 2009 2:25 am PT
Steak... Yabbies... Mmmmmmmmmm... Dangerous pics, I keep trying to bite the monitor. The rest of your blog is one of the best I've read, period. Well written, well composed, and thoughtful; it was a pleasure to read.

Oh, I realize that this is a very international place, and I realize that Japanese and Hindi are pretty far apart. Still, isn't there a song called Lagaan Lagi? I wonder if that's a borrowed word in Gurren Lagann... Total tangent, sorry.

Nice blog, Batman looks awesome
Posted Sep 8, 2009 3:04 am PT
Everything there, especially the food, looks awesome. I've heard a lot of awesome reviews about Batman AA, and that surprises me actually, considering how many bad reviews many previous Batman, especially the older ones, recieved.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 3:15 am PT
Batman Arkham Asylum looks great, I'm waiting for the pc version. And I might just watch The Final Destination 3D, not sure though.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 3:23 am PT
I want to play Batman so badly...But first I need to buy a console on which I can play it.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 5:31 am PT
Mmmmm, seriously I feel hungry now! G. I. Joe was okay although I found it suspiciously similar to Transformers 2 which I was so disapointed in =/ And man... I want Batman: Arkham Asylum...

Your editorials were remarkable so you deserve it

Everyone says the same about Arkham Asylum but I still just need to experience for myself. When I played the demo, it felt dull to me...I don't know why. I need to get it And Professor Layton is awesome. I loved the first one, and yeah, from what I heard (since I'm offline), you get a new puzzle every week for free. Now that's just plain awesome

I'm not a fan of horror and slasher movies, so no Final Destination for me Thanks for the anime recommendation. I've added it to the list, and I've only recently started to really watch anime. GI Joe looks much better than Transformers 2. I didn't even bother with that movie...

No prob on commenting late, I understand. Another great blog

I thought I had important things to say once, and wrote editorials often (certainly some far better written than some of the junk there). Then I had an epiphany: I didn't really care. Don't get me wrong; it's cool you got 'boxed and congratulations for all the hard work paying off.

I don't know why I particularly don't care. I think maybe because I've found that having interesting dialogue with a few close GS friends has been better than arguing with 156 random people.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 6:01 am PT
Can't wait to get the new Professor Layton. I enjoyed GI Joe but I can't get into the Final Destination series.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 6:34 am PT
Congrats on getting on your soapbox

Can't wait for Proffessor Layton to come out over here... only a few weeks to go!
Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:05 am PT
Batman is a decent game,not played it yet,might be great....Also I really dont like the Final Destination 3 d just because the series should have ended a while ago...G.I Joe Cobra was decent....
Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:18 am PT

Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:32 am PT
I just finally got 1000/1000 on Batman last night. And whoa.. a positive review for G.I. Joe? And congrats on making the soap box.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:43 am PT
If it has Yoko in it, I'm watching it!
Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:50 am PT
Urban Chaos! I couldn't remember what Rocksteady had made in the past, and I was too lazy to look it up. Thanks for saving me a trip. Gotta say I'm looking forward to whatever they come up with next.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 10:01 am PT
Congratz on your new emblem...
Posted Sep 8, 2009 10:11 am PT
I'm glad you played Batman AA.

Posted Sep 8, 2009 12:03 pm PT
Ah Batman.....I really wish I was rich I just can't afford all these games

And dude, the second picture of food looks like a cockroach. I keep staring at it trying to see food in there, but I all it looks like to me is a cockroach
Posted Sep 8, 2009 12:13 pm PT
congrats on going to the soapbox and I really want to try out Batman AA P.S great corny title
Posted Sep 8, 2009 1:49 pm PT
Congrats on the emblem Hells yes! Batman has rocked hard to the core, the villains, story, gameplay, riddles, I could just go on and on, made me have to put Valkyria on hold...again! Ive only seen the first Final Destination and lets just say I wish I had those 2 hrs or whatever of my life back, I dont think my intelligence has ever been so insulted! Haha, thanks for the mention, glad I could help and you enjoyed one of my favorite animes: Drill On! Dang I got so hungry I needed to crack open a bag of Doritos
Posted Sep 8, 2009 1:52 pm PT
Congrats on getting the Soapbox.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 1:56 pm PT
You almost made me want to see G.I Joe Rise of The Cobra...almost.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 2:31 pm PT
Congrats on getting those nice and shiny rare emblems! Your editorial blogs were fun to read so you definitely deserve them. Arkham Asylum looks awesome! Can't wait until I get a chance to play it. And stop making me hungry
Posted Sep 8, 2009 2:45 pm PT
I love big thick juicy blogs to sustain my brain meat, especially medium-rare. I've actually only started to follow your writings since you've been 'boxed but I have been enjoying them, and the comments you've been writing about mine, thoroughly. Thanks a lot and keep it up.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 3:54 pm PT
No, I am not feeling hungry! *goes to make sandwich*

Congrats on that soapbox emblem, you deserve some achivement points for that. And yeah, Batman: AA is pretty sweet. Now, it'll be my third playthrough and I'm still having fun with it.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 3:55 pm PT
I agree, G.I. Joe was great. It just felt right. It wasn't stuffed with BS and never-ending scenes.

Congrats on being soapboxed
Posted Sep 8, 2009 4:25 pm PT
Congratulations on earning the soapbox emblem.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 4:30 pm PT
I was happy to hear of your soapbox emblem. I am still working on a very serious blog, which is taking a while. (school) Glad to hear about you though.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 4:51 pm PT
ur blog was great u even got mentioned on TOTS if u didnt know good job man
Posted Sep 8, 2009 5:21 pm PT
@pakhair: Great pics right, I sure love good food and back in Malaysia, we have it in abundance! Where do you live anyways?
=======================================================
@Frame_Dagger: Wow, you must be really hungry if you keep taking chunks off your monitor. Thanks, I appreciate your feedback and it sure was fun to write. Hm, Lagann Lagi, can't say that I have heard of the song.
=======================================================
@M0wen10: Thanks, and yes you should get Arkham Asylum. =======================================================
@aryoshi: I thought the same too when the game was announced, but when it started getting rave reviews from many publications and sites, I knew then that it would be great. =======================================================
@vj02: If you are a fan of gore or the Final Destination movies, then you should. =======================================================
@megagene: If you need help on which console to get, I would suggest getting a PS3. With the recent price reduction and the fact that it plays Blu-Ray movies as well, it's a steal.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 7:40 pm PT
@mprezzy: Valid points there, I have to agree with you as I also prefer conversing with friends to whom you can relate to. Rather than trying to reason with some random user who just disregards what you have written, I can see where you are coming from. =======================================================
@ShadowVari: Thanks, it's good to hear that. And yes, you should get the game. I would say that it's my favorite game of the year so far and it even feels fresh on the second playthrough. As for The Diabolical Box, I am enjoying it so far and the mind numbing puzzles is just as great as the previous game. I was pleasantly surprised with Gurren Lagann, its a great anime and as each episode has great pacing and intense action, it sure is hard to stop watching. =======================================================
@MJoanne: Yeah, the plot of the Final Destination movies make little sense and it basically involves people getting killed in horrible ways. I can see how many would be turned off. =======================================================
@Dinkyfish: Thanks, Professor Layton is awesome.
=======================================================
@NuKKU: Its funny, I only just realized when pakhair mentioned it to me. Thanks.
=======================================================
@ikhzo: That's great, looking forward to it.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 8:11 pm PT
I always eat my meat well-done. Medium-rare is for the animals.

I've never heard of Gurren-Lagann but I have been known to enjoy a good anime now and again. Lately I can't stand the low-quality crap but is it really that good? If so I may just check it out since I haven't seen a good anime in a while. How many episodes too, that important. If it's a lot I don't want to commit.

Arkham Asylum seems cool, like, really cool, but I'll probably get it next year when the price goes down. This year the only full-price game I'm getting is Halo 3: ODST.
Posted Sep 8, 2009 10:07 pm PT
You all and these really long blogs

Congrats on that soapbox
Posted Sep 9, 2009 5:05 am PT
I saw Final Destination yesterday, It's an okish kind of movie and lol I'm not a fan!
Posted Sep 9, 2009 5:20 am PT
Now, excuse me while I steal your food.
Posted Sep 9, 2009 2:12 pm PT
I keep hearing good things about that new Batman game. Definitely gonna have to pick it up when I finally buy a PS3 in a few weeks. Well, hopefully in a few weeks, gotta pay off some bills first and finish buying up some clothes for this semester of school, plus textbooks. *sigh*
Posted Sep 9, 2009 5:01 pm PT
i was a huge fan of the first Final Destination movie. i still remember when i watched that movie in the theaters. i was with my brother and we were like dude there snothing to watch... and i said well what about this one? *points final destination poster* and my brother is like. that? are you kidding me?... well in the end we watched and im glad we did. i loved the movie. ive watched it like a thousand thimes and it never gets old. too bad the sequels have been horrible.
Posted Sep 9, 2009 7:50 pm PT
congrats on your new emblem! that one is a rare emblem and quite hard to get, maybe i'll never get that emblem lol cant wait to play batman AA xD it looks great!
Posted Sep 10, 2009 2:41 am PT
I loved the Batman...best game of 09 so far. I haven't seen The Final Destination yet, but after watching the previous 3 movies, I'm not really that hyped to watch this one
Posted Sep 10, 2009 7:30 am PT
I was surprised that I too was impressed by GI Joe it was pretty good
Posted Sep 10, 2009 5:14 pm PT
Sorry, but it looks like I'm fashionably late to the party. I just came back from measuring the diameters of my CD-based games... for... um... work.

Seriously dude? Aw shucks I feel so honored, especially since you're pretty much a GameSpot star with all of your amazing editorials. Congratulations on your blogging success, and good luck for the future! I'll continue being zany if you continue being awesome.

**** YEAH, GURREN LAGANN! DUN DUN NA NA - DUN NANA NA NA- RAAAAAAWWWWWRRRRRRR DUN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUNNNN DUN DUN DUN DUN DUUUUUUN!!!!!!

@MistressMinako: Hands off my buttered lobster.
=======================================================
@McMJ3: Now that you mentioned it, it does resemble a roach.
=======================================================
@munchlax99: It sure is.
=======================================================
@TristanH12: Thanks, I sure love writing them.
=======================================================
@infamous13579: Thanks infamous.
=======================================================
@NeonNinja: Honestly I didn't expect much from Gurren Lagann but I have to say it sure surprised me at how good the show turned out to be. At only 27 episodes, it's not overly long. As for Arkham Asylum, its really good. I'll even go as far to say it's the best game that I have played this year so far. I hear you, with games being so expensive, I only purchase the really good ones. =======================================================
@Roman_Irishman: Thanks, and yes Batman sure is an awesome game. So awesome that I immediately replayed it on Hard upon completing it, hearing the Joker never gets old.

Ahaha, it's not that bad, for me at least but I can see how many would be turned off with its story. As for Gurren Lagann, I am halfway through the season and its shocking to see how Roshiu has changed along with the whole series. Doritos? Now you are making me hungry!
