-Giants-

The baseball season is finally over for the Giants ending the season with a win in San Diego in extra innings and the record standing at 88-74, 14 games over .500 with a .543 winning percentage. Great record but not good enough to make it to the post season but for a team that was 18 games under .500 a 72-90 record it was an amazing turn around season. The only thing that remains for this season is to see if Tim Lincecum can win another (NL) Cy Young Award. In the meantime it's time to look next year at next year yes Brain Sabean, yes Bruce will be back but with a good rotation, even better now adding MadBum (Bumgarner) all thats needed will be some offense maybe a little bullpen.

-Sharks-

The Sharks started their 2009-10 season in Colorado Thursday for both teams season openers and Joe Sakic getting his number retired. A great game for the Avalanches but bad game for the Sharks not clicking, getting no momentum and losing 5-2. Saturday the Sharks went to Anaheim to play the Ducks doing a 180 from the Avas game, how games vs the Ducks last year, they went on to win 4-1 with Ben Ferriero scoring his first NHL goal, Marleaus 3rd, Thornton, Setoguchi adding on for the first win of the season. Still on the road Tuesday at LA vs the Kings and then finally the home to open Thursday against Rick Nash and the Blue Jackets.

-49ers-

The NFL donning the pink the 49ers had to man up played against the win less Rams. The First Quarter: ah Candlestick wind they be a harsh mistress preventing the Ram from getting a field goal but doing the same to the 49ers. The Second: after a Pro-Bowler Andy Lee punt was botched by the receiving team Scott McKillop Mc Killed them softly with a nice recover for the TD. Third: shades of last week a pin point Hill to Vernon TD pass to get the 49ers to 14-0. After constant mind games Rams quarterback Boller broke down passed across the field to Captain 52's territory who picked it off for a nice 21 yard Willis TD 49ers now 21-0. Fourth: The Hill TD pass to Morgan 28-0 and finally a fumble by the Rams with a recovery by McDonald to put the final nail in the game for a 35-0 victory. This is the first shutout for the 49ers since 2002 vs the Saints, first shutout against the Rams since 1996! Now 3-1 first in the West the 49ers at Candlestick will take on the 2-1 Atlanta Falcons who are coming off a bye week

Sunday the 49ers faced off vs the Vikings at the HHH Metrodome, during this game a miracle happened but lets start from the beginning. A great game overall back & forth throughout with the 49ers leading 14-13 at the half but after a field goal to take a 17-13 Percy Harvin has a 101 yard kickoff return to take a 20-17 lead. Not giving up Shawn Hill drove the Niners down the field 80-yard topping it off with beautiful completing to Vernon Davis for a TD giving us a 24-20 lead. The last few minutes of the game the Niners could not convert a 3rd down (terrible offensive play calling IMO) so having to punting give the Viking possession with 1:39 left in the game which was 2 second more than they need. Brett Favre had a drive of his own charging down the field vs a 9er defense that was playing to give up anything but a touchdown gave up an unbelievable 32 yard Favre to Greg Lewis touchdown Lewis' only reception of the season. A Vikings kickoff with a fair catch then one last chuck and one last drop from Vernon Davis. Like most 49ers fans I was in shock, in disbelief an amazing catch but could not fathom what just happen grabbing a loss from the jaws of victory. The 49ers played a great game (probably should have won but should of, could of, would of) they played great defense (other than that last play) keep the game close, didn't letting Adrian Peterson do much and even blocking a field goal. The offense was great even if they where 0-11 on 3rd downs they scored 24 points ran and passed the ball well. On a bad note Frank Gore left after the 1st with an ankle injury so we'll see what comes out of that. Now the 2-1 Niners will face the 0-3 St. Louis Rams (coming off a 36-17 loss against Greenbay) at Candlestick for another division matchup.

-49ers-

The 49ers have come out swing in the 2009 season after defeating the Arizona Cardinals the 49ers took on another division rival the Seattle Seahawks in their home opener at Candle Stick park. The Seattle Seahawks 1-0 where coming on a big 28-0 win against the Ram but they never expecting see a Hill of a lot of Gore. Frank Gore busting out for 209 rushing yards in 16 attempts with 2 TD's one from a 79 yard run and the other from an 80 yard run. Hill looking good going 19/26 with 144 no TD's but no INT's. Side note Matt Hasselbeck QB of the Seahawks was injured (bruises ribs) a few seconds before half time when Patrick Willis stop him from rushing for a TD. So with that win the 49ers are now standing on 2-0. Next the 49ers face Brett Favre, Adrian Peterson, the Vikings @ Minnesota who are also 2-0 and just came off a win over Detroit.

The Giants wild card hopes are dimming now 4.5 games back and with the elimination number at 9 we are down but not out. All that is need is a strong finish when the Giants take on Arizona, Chicago, Arizona , and San Diego while Colorado has to face San Diego St.Louis, Milwaukee, LA to finish up the 2009 season.
