my top 3 anime are the greatest shows ever made... in my opinion anyway hehe.

my number 3 is:

Berserk

berserk has the best characters, one of the best stories, and deffinetely the best music i've ever seen in anything. seriously, the music in particular is (although a little strange the first time you hear it) absolutely perfect, theres no doubt that the show wouldn't be as good without it. the characters are also some of my favourite ever. guts (yes the main characters name is guts ) and casca are totally awesome, and they are my favourite male and female characters out of all the anime i've seen.

now, moving on to the ending (and no i'm not going to tell you how it ends, so keep reading ). this ending is without a doubt the most messed up ending ever. it all happens in the last 2 episodes, and i swear, i was staring at the TV for about 5 minutes afterwards the first time i saw it because i was so shocked. of course one can understand this story much better if one is willing to read the manga, but not everyone will go that far just to understand what the hell happened . the manga goes a lot further then the ending to the anime, personally i don't know why they didn't make the anime 50 episodes, they could have got it all in if they did that... oh well.

basically the story starts out with guts hunting down this character called griffith. of course you have no idea who this "griffith" is, but that doesn't matter because it soon switches to the past and the real story begins. long story short, guts starts out as a mercenary, griffith sees his talent and events lead to griffith challenging guts to a fight, the catch is that if griffith wins, guts will join the band of the hawk and serve griffith.

Guts served the next few years under Griffith as the commander of the raider unit of the Hawks. Griffith's exploits helped the king of Midland gain territory from the kingdom of Chudor. In one battle, Guts found himself face to face with a demon (an Apostle) named Nosferatu Zodd, who previously had slaughtered dozens of Guts' men. Zodd proved to be too much for Guts, and Griffith came to his rescue. Zodd managed to defeat both of them, but stopped when he saw that Griffith wore the Crimson Behelit, the Egg of the Emperor. He declaimed that he understood the situation, and laughed. He prophesied that when Griffith's ambition crumbled, Guts would meet a death that he would not be able to escape.

i'm not going to tell anymore of the story. like elfen lied this anime isn't for everyone, although it is extremely well done and very interesting. most people that start watching this will most likely watch until the shocking end.

this is a masterpiece of entertainment and i highly recommend it to anyone that likes the more mature anime.
