Some of you may remember my previous rant about NXE. If not, scroll down. That's assuming anyone reads this.
I finally made the last step in giving in to NXE today, hooking my new Xbox 360 Arcade up to the internet and updating it. Time for some major DRM fixing.
I plan to trade in my old 360 on Monday, for over half of what my $178 Arcade cost me. I have a quote for $100, maybe I can do better at another store. Very little cost, especially considering I got a memory card and an arcade game collection out of the deal at no charge.
Crappier A/V cables with the Arcade, you say? You're right, and I'm keeping my old HD / SDTV cables from the original model. No Hard Drive, you say? I'm keeping that too.
I'm basically paying $78 for a brand-new machine replacing my old one, a brand-new wireless controller replacing my very worn-out old one, a memory card, 5 arcade games, and an HDMI port.
That's at least $70 retail value on the games and memory card, I can't be bothered to assign dollar values to the remainder.
Not a bad deal, IMO.
So I'll have NXE, which is actually not that bad. It IS harder to navigate, but the Xiis (Avatars) are about as fun as they are a lame Nintendo Wii rip-off, the Hard Drive install option is a real advantage, and . . . . umm . . . . I wish my old themes would either work or be refunded. And that's about it.
See you next time I'm bored and unemployed, readers, until then, I'm Dark Minun.
