There are certain website you have to share with the world. One special site has been a constant source of tear-inducing laughter for my friends and I comes for the past few months, and i demand you at least set it as your homepage

www.failblog.org

Unlike lolcats which comes from the Martmite school of love/loath, failblog is a constant stream of hilarious "FAIL" moment which everyone i've shown it too has spent the best part of a good night browsing through.

Here are some gems i saw today. God bless the internet....

COP FAIL

Weightlifting FAIL

Mascot FAIL

Conspiracy FAIL

Drainage FAIL

I can think of no other way of making this informative & entertaining than listing the games I played and my personal opinion of each one. I know you folks are far more interested in some games than others, so feel free to skip and read whatever you like. For here I'm oing to keep them brief, factual and totally subjective.
*Inhales*
Okay here we go:

Little Big Planet:
I went into the LPB booth full of scepticism about the so called saviour of the PS3. The sheer volume of advertising around Leipzig pointed toward this game is staggering. Nevertheless I sat down multiple times to play 3 separate levels of the game. This game just oozes "clever" on every screen. The levels are built superbly, as they constantly challenge your imagination. Each level seem unique too; one level I played was concentrated on not falling off the bottom of the map, the next was about using makeshift "cars" to transport our 4 dudes across the level, and the third used the foreground/background walking mechanic to dodge falling objects on different levels. I also got to sit down on a level-editing demo which looked like great fun, especially as multiple users can edit the same level. I'm much more excited about LPB after getting my hard on it.

Street Fighter 4
I'm a huge fan of SF2 as many gamers are, but like millions of others I became uninterested in the game series when it turned toward the more hardcore market with fancy storylines, anime graphics and deep game mechanics. To this day SF2 has been the benchmark of what I enjoy in a fighting game, until now. I say with no hesitation that if any game is going to rejuvenate the fighting genre, it's SF4. The graphics are stunning, the backgrounds are details, moves are easy at first but allow room to improve, the 360 D-pad works pretty good and it just feels "right". I played more SF4 at GC2008 than any other game.

Street Fighter 4

Stalker: Clear Sky
I've just found out I won a copy of this on the Gamespot UK Podcast. Delighted because I'm totally broke post-Leipzig and I loved the first game. This was one of the games at GC I managed to Press-Pass into and get a sit-down with one of the developers. He answered all my questions about the game, which include a BIG SPOILER which I will write in red at the end of this paragraph. The game is set 12 months before the start of the first game with you playing an unknown character who survives a new anomaly of The Zone which creates a huge blast wave that kills everything in its path (usually). This is not going to happen dynamically like the first game promised, but rather tied to the games narrative. The graphics engine I witnessed was running in DX9 and it looked considerably better in the lighting and detail departments. Your character now has 3 tools he can use to scan anomalies for artefacts. I saw one of them, and it definitely encourages you to explore the Zone more. The demo guy also admitted that the odd trading system with NPC's that always pay for your crap is still in the game, but apart from that the game looks nothing less than a great and familiar sequel.
SPOILER:
For those of you who completed the first game and found out that your character was in fact "Strelok", you'll be interested to know that your main enemy in Clear Sky is in fact Strelok pre-car crash. Great idea for a prequel in my opinion.

Pro Evolution Soccer 2009
Game engine was definetly not re-built like they promised, but a number of bugs seemed to be gone in our games. Mid-pitch free kicks are now easier to retain the ball in, the delayed slide-tackle with the wrong player bug seems to be gone, and the game doesn't slow down so much. Graphically the game looks great on all three platforms on show (PC, 360, PS3) but the most noticeable difference in the game is that both the pass, lob and through-ball mechanics of the game are far less easy than in previous versions. In 1v1 you can't get a player through on goal by just hitting the through-ball button and crossing your fingers. The analogue sticks (which I've since learned were new controls with more sensitive sensors) are used a lot more in guiding where the ball actually goes, which should make for some interesting gameplay once you get the knack of it. Only got to play international teams, so cant say anything about licenses this time around.

Saints Row 2
I loved the first game, and this one seems to be pretty similar, but buggy as hell. You start as your nameless character from the first game, who (if you've played the first game you know why) wakes up from a coma in the cities Jail. Your character now talks, and in the accent of your gender/race selected, which is a nice touch. The fighting in the game now uses dynamic moves which swing the camera around when you pull one off. They seem to be fairly random in the combat but I'm sure it has something to do with the characters positioning. Pretty much everything else is similar, wacky cars, wacky dialogue, circular inventory system, it's all there. Maybe it's because it's a beta of the game, but the car physics and outdoors framerate were shockingly bad when I was playing. I would expect so, because both were fantastic in the first game.

Left 4 Dead
I wrote me own opinion about Valves zombie shooter on my own site (link - mine is in the yellow "second oppinion" box). Suffice to say it was game of the show for my friends and I.

left for dead

Red Faction Guerrilla
Played a good 25 minutes of this on Day 4 and really enjoyed it. The destructible buildings fall realistically and for a game set on a red desert its decent looking too. Maybe it's early in development again, but the problem is nothing much about the game makes it stand out. I hope its because I was dumped into a level, but the atmosphere felt pretty stagnant, and I wondered why many of the Mars workers were getting on with their daily work as buildings exploded and soldiers were murdered in front of their eyes.

Fracture:

Played about 15 minutes of this and a complete turn-around on what I was expecting. Fracture is damn fun. Your gun has a secondary fire which can raise or lower the ground 30 feet each way. Not alone can you use this to sink enemies or knock them into the air, but this creates the ability to make dynamic cover too. A few moments of the game I had to use the mechanic to drive the gameplay, once by tunnelling under the walls of a building, and another time to lover a bridge which had been spiked upward by an elevated rock-mound. The futuristic, robot-man thing has been done to death, but thankfully the game has lots of great tricks up its sleave.

Sonic Unleashed.
We were only allowed play one level from this, the most recent re-imagining of the Sonic universe. I've been a fan of Sonic for years but haven't enjoyed a game since Sonic Adventure 2 on my friends Gamecube. Good news is that this version of Sonic is fantastic fun to play. The side-scrolling speed areas are reminiscent of the older games where you were dodging enemies and looking for secret areas rather than worrying about falling off a platform. The platforming is clever, and the baddies are easy enough to keep the momentum high. I didn't get to play the Wear-Hog elements of the game which seem to play something close to how Kameo does, but if they make it half as fun as the level I played, this is a sure-fire Sonic ****c.

Sonic unleashed

Brother in Arms: Hells Highway
The latest BIA seems far less tactical than I imagined it was going to be. Though you control your squad like in previous versions, your character is able to take bullets far more than before. I wonder if the success of games like COD4 made the design change, but I think it lost something in the transition. Graphically its pretty great looking, especially on the high-end PC on site, but the biggest advantage to the PC version is the controls. Trying to pinpoint squad positions while under-fire using the PS3's analogue stick was a total nightmare, especially when the mouse-control was so fluid. I didn't play enough of BOI to make any more criticisms, and despite these the game plays good and will definitely be a worth sequel to fans of the series.

Far Cry 2:
The PC version looked amazing, even if crashed three separate computers as I went through the level on offer (yikes!). More importantly, this game plays fantastic. The AI works pretty good, chasing after you in cars and shouting for backup. The guns are varied and work like real guns, with cheap dust-choked rifles being punched and shaken when they fail to fire. Your character seems to have a medical condition that stops him from running too long, and brings on strange fits that need to be quenched by popping a few pills. The missions seem to be totally dynamic, and the world is huge, bustling with life both human and animal. The 360 version I played was great, though without the jaw-dropping and maybe Crysis-beating graphics of the Pc version. Far Cry is a modern day Oblivion which I'm very excited about.

far cry 2

Skate In (Wii .skate game)
Tough to use without balance-board skills as my Wii-Fit friend showed me. Tricks seem to work they would on a real board (I skateboarded for around 5 years) but graphically you cant help but wince.

Killzone 2
This Game looks amazingly pretty, plays like a standard FPS shooter. Not my cup of tea, but I'm sure it plays solid for fans for the series.

Resistance 2
Worst demo on the show-floor as it lasted about 3minutes and consisted of killing 2 streets worth of "I Am Legend" zombies that were running right at you. Not enough to make a judgement on the game really, but the seat I sat on was pretty comfortable.

Bionic Commando
We talked a lot about BC on our podcast this week, but since I only played the multiplayer I can't really talk much about it. We all agreed that the shooting was pretty poor, and all the combat is directed to using the claw. Swinging was really fun and worked good too.

Project Origin
The spiritual successor to FEAR plays much more like a console game and i felt it lost its crispness because of it. Graphically its up there with the best Xbox 360 first person shooters.

Sorry about the bad grammer & cheap writing. Im pretty busy catching up on paying-work and though i better do it now while its still relevant. Its gonna be a fun 9 months of game releases
