Afternoon people! Far too busy this week to blog on Monday...

Once again I started looking for a new car for what must be the third time in as many months. Each time I only half heartedly look for one as although I want a nice new car, I just don't like looking for them. This time I forced myself to look properly and on Wednesday I actually went to have a look at one on my own for the first time ever. I knew that was probably a bad idea as I can get talked into anything so I fully expected to come away having bought one and took out all the extra policies as well. Thankfully the guy was really helpful which surprised me as normally they come running over as soon as you step foot on their property! The car I went to look at was pretty fast and because it was a few years old it was full of all the extra features that new cars of a similar price wouldn't have. Unfortunately my insurance company want to charge me the earth for a 2.0 GTI which is understandable but other companies offer it cheaper. The only problem is that I can't change halfway through without losing my no claims bonus which apparently for someone my age who's male, is extremely important to keep whatever I've got. So for now my car hunt is off again until about March as my insurance runs out in April where I can change companies if I want a faster car.

In gaming, my progress on Dead Space has gone much smoother than I had expected and I now have less than two chapters left until it's finished. Thankfully I've got all of the weapon specific achievements out of the way now which was beginning to annoy me. The contact beam and flamethrower were by far the hardest and the latter took me ages to get as lack of ammo and the amount it takes to kill one enemy meant I was struggling to get it. Now I can enjoy the rest of the game playing with whatever weapon I choose as I've amassed large amounts of ammo for some of the guns. I really hate the zero gravity and no oxygen sections more than I thought I would. There are a few that really tested my patience until I finally worked out what to do. Just because of those few sections I'd definitely put the game behind Resi 5 and Bioshock which didn't really have any.

On tv.com, it seems like soon enough we'll finally have the character guides that danmod talked about a long time ago. As nice as it is to have something else to boost up the site, there's still a lot they need to work out before they open them up to submissions. It will unfortunately mean that people will find hundreds more easy subs to do, maybe copying quotes from show guides seeing as they'd be the same. It's a shame that people will probably start neglecting show guides even more than people do now. There are a lot of new episodes that never get added any more due to the lack of submitters. Giving them something new to do will more than likely put a strain on what will actually be updated now.

As for TV, I've watched:

House 'The Tyrant'. I'm glad the season seems to be getting back to normal as this was a great episode. I haven't heard much news about the cast this season but I'm still wondering who his team will actually be this season.
FlashForward '137 Sekuden'. A much better episode than the last one with an intriguing ending that makes me ready for the next episode. A lot of shows these days (that I watch anyway) that I watch don't carry over into the next week so whenever a show manages to hook me in for the next week it can only get better for me.
Sanctuary 'End of Nights: Part 1'. I'm still not really enjoying it as it just feels so cheaply made. People may disagree with me but I'm no finding much to pull me into the show. It's not really my type of show though so I didn't really expect to like it.
Drop Dead Diva 'Greyson Anatomy'. So it's the end of a pretty under the radar first season for the show. It was nice enough and the cast is ok but it doesn't do anything special and it's a no frills 40 minutes of average entertainment. It's not as good as Ugly Betty or Samantha Who but then again it's a lot better than a lot of other shows...
Glee 'Vitamin D'. That was probably the best episode since the pilot! The two mash up songs were so good and there were plenty of other good songs and non musical sections held up just as well this week.
Greek 'The Dork Knight'. As much as the season is getting better and better, it's just not as fun as it used to be. It seems to be focusing more on individuals than it is about the rivalries between them all. It also doesn't seem to have the fun factor brought in by the pledges seeing as they haven't replaced the old batch like they did in the other seasons.
Bored To Death 'The Case of the Stolen Skateboard'. Is doing exactly what the title suggests. I liked the first episode but it hasn't improved at all. Along with Jane Lynch, Ted Danson is another actor that I really don't like. I hated him on Damages and I don't like him much more on this show either.
The Office 'Niagara'. I really didn't expect to like this episode, especially as it was a double length one. I thought it was pretty good although there weren't any standout moments to speak of. Hopefully that's the end of the boring love story that is Jim and Pam, I'd like for it to be focused more on the company/office than it is about their personal lives.
Accidentally On Purpose 'One Night Stand'. I'm really unsure about this show as it's the kind of show that I want to like but am struggling to actually find anything really funny about it. I'm not very keen on the cast which is pretty much a no go if it wasn't a comedy. At least the fact that it's supposed to be funny means there's a few nice scenes.
Breaking Bad 'Season One'. A bit of a mixed season I thought. The opening episode was brilliant and then it went off for a few episodes and ended on another great one. I'm not really sure about the cast except for Bryan Cranston, none of the others are really any good.
Entourage 'Season Five'. Definitely the weakest season so far, especially compared to the couple before it. Still not bad although the movies he worked on weren't interesting and everything had a different feel to it. It's surprising that keeping the same cast for so long in a show that has barely changed in five seasons has still stayed as funny as it is.

I decided that I'll introduce a good/bad section into my blog so that I don't spend all my time mentioning every show above. It's an easier way to show you want I've watched in case you have a comment about any of them:

Good - Greek 'The Dork Knight', Gossip Girl 'Rufus Getting Married', How I Met Your Mother 'Robin 101', The Big Bang Theory 'The Gothowitz Deviation', Two and a Half Men 'Mmm, fish. Yum', Fringe 'Momentum Deferred', The Office 'Niagara', The New Adventures of Old Christine 'The Mole', House 'The Tyrant', American Dad 'Home Adrone', Lie To Me 'Control Factor', FlashForward '137 Sekuden', Glee 'Vitamin D', 90210 'Wild Alaskan Salmon'.

Indifferent - Castle 'Inventing the Girl', It's Always Sunny In Philadelphia 'The Gang Gives Frank an Intervention', Brothers and Sisters 'Almost Normal', Gary Unmarried 'Gary's Demo', Community 'Social Psychology', Drop Dead Diva 'Greyson Anatomy', Melrose Place 'Shoreline', Sons of Anarchy 'Faix Cerebri'.

Bad - Accidentally on Purpose 'One Night Stand', Parks and Recreation 'Practice Date', Ghost Whisperer 'Til Death Do Us Start', Sanctuary 'End of Nights: Part 1', Bored To Death 'The Case of the Stolen Skateboard', The Vampire Diaries 'You're Undead To Me'.

My album for the day is She Wolf by Shakira.

My shuffle song for the day is 'Mr Curiosity' by Jason Mraz.

My thing to ponder for today is: If buttered toast always lands butter-side down, and a cat always lands on its feet, what would happen if you tied a piece of buttered toast on the back of a cat?

The idea of character guides is good but considering the size of cast for some popular shows, it might make some editor's ques get jammed up with junk.

The cat would lick off the butter, of course! I really liked the Niagra episode of Office.

Hello
Too bad that you found a nice car but can’t change car insurance companies without bringing with you your no claims bonus. That doesn’t happen in here and that particular is really interesting to be kept indeed. Oh well, guess you can wait for 3 months longer.
I hadn’t heard that character guides are gonna be added to tv.com. I think that there are many other old features to be fixed prior to adding new ones. It sounds like an idea that could work to boost the site, but it’d be a momentary one. Once the excitement about the it is over, things will go back to how they are now, only that with (I’m afraid) a couple of new glitches.
I’m one episode behind you in FlashForward (I think) but it’s still catchy to me as well. Shakira’s ‘She Wolf’ doesn’t do it for me, I like her old albums way better.
If you tied a piece of buttered toast on the back of a cat, you’ll need all your luck to catch him before he’s getting rid of it. Cats totally hate having anything attached to them Hope you can have a nice and resting a weekend after your long week. Hugs

We're going to look for cars this weekend, I like looking at them, but get bored after a while!
I agree with you about Glee, in previous episodes the musical numbers have been great and the storylines have been iffy or vice versa, but it seems to be finding the balance. I think the boys mash-up was the best.

I also agree about Greek, this episode was quite good, but its not as good as it used to be. A lot of the characters are behaving really annoyingly (Rebecca and Casey especially) and it doesn't help that this semester has gone on for ages (I liked that they poked fun at that in the most recent episode!) which makes some of the characters actions seem a little weird. Plus they keep inventing all these Greek traditions which were nowhere to be found last season. I know they have to to keep the show interesting, but its a little bit overload.

i really like Flash Forward and Glee

Maritimer: That depends on whether they put editors in charge of character guides or whether they just leave them open. If show editors are automatically given the characters as well, you're right in that they'll be overloaded with stuff to moderate.

Moon: I guess it would - it depends on whether it does it before or after jumping though!

Boom: It's a bit longer than three months but as I've put it off so many times before I'm sure I can manage it again.
I'm sure there'll be plenty of problems come out of this addition. There'll probably be an explosion of submissions to start with but it always calms down.
That was episode 3 of FlashForward that I mentioned so you've only seen the first two I guess.
I'm the other way around as I don't like any of Shakira's old stuff but am quite liking the new song!

David: I'd really recommend getting it as it's not a typical survival horror game like say Silent Hill. It's literally just a shooter with aliens. Uncharted 2 looks very good although sadly I'm a only on 360!

Nat: I get bored quite early on - especially when I see the prices of them!
Glee had another good episode this week so am starting to really enjoy it again. The boys' one was much better as the song choices were good.
Rebecca and Casey's rivalry always used to annoy me but at least they were interesting to watch then. Yeah, the traditions that vary from year to year doesn't really make sense. It's still better than a lot of similar shows though!

JandSman: Glad you're enjoying both shows!
