Well, a sneak peek of the new fall programming has been bestowed upon us by the TV Gods. The Nine and Shark both look good, although I'm not sure Shark is one I'd continue to watch. It's a good show, just not necessarily my style. I haven't watched Jericho yet.
Stargate SG-1 and Stargate Atlantis finally premiered last night. I loved the SG-1 premiere, although it had its predictable moments. Stargate Atlantis I loved less so - it felt very jumbled, and that, combined with the fact that it ended with "To Be Continued" really left me wanting for more. The acting also felt off, which is probably a result of the fact that rather than everyone working together as a team, everyone was separated. The only two characters who truly felt normal were Sheppard and Weir, probably because they are the strongest characters of the entire series and have no problems standing on their own two feet. That's not to diminish the acting abilities of the rest of the cast, it's simply the way it works. One of my other complaints had little to do with the actual episode and more to do with the fact that guest episode credits that spoil the general direction of an episode should be shunted to the end credits. Seeing Robert Picardo listed in the Atlantis credits immediately told me that Earth would be involved in the episode in some way, which is significant and rare for an Atlantis episode.
All in all, I can't complain. This is the fifth season premiere I've had the privilege of watching for SG-1, and the third for Atlantis. While I wouldn't rank them as my top favorites, they were good. SG-1 premiere I would put after Season 8 and Season 6, but before Season 7 and Season 9. Stargate Atlantis was my least favorite premiere to date of the three, but was still far better than most of the garbage that ends up on network TV.
