Great...and they (I mean Brazil as a country) will host the 2014 World Cup.

May God helps us all.

It sucks.

Really.

Many fans came to Bristol just to see bumper-to-bumper racing with fenders torn up and tempers past boiling point. Not side-by-side strung out racing.

Okay, I sound like an unappreciative fan right about now. But everyone knows short track racing is a big deal, especially to local communities. Sometimes, progressive banking works out great (IRP). In this case, it fails miserably.

Just go back to pavement. Problem solved.

Holy crap, this woman is still driving?

Okay, with that out of the way, you may know her as a driver of the #7 Motorola/Boost Mobile/GoDaddy.com (yeah, yeah, I know) AGR IndyCar (I would put the details of the car, but the IRL teams always run the Dallaras aka I BELIEVE I CAN FLY chassis, Hondas and Firestones...on all cars). She won one race and instantly became the huge story on ESPN...apparently, as they devote the LAST TEN MINUTES OF LAST YEAR'S LONG BEACH GRAND PRIX TO HER!!! Jeez, ESPN, can't you just put up tribute videos about the glory that was ChampCar/CART Racing?

Anyway, rumors are swirling that Danica will join NASCAR in the near future...as soon as next year. All I had to say is this: Danica WILL fail in NASCAR. I don't care what you think about her, I don't care how this season went for her (she finished within the top 10 in this year's LBGP, the race I went to earlier), she WILL fail in NASCAR. Why? Here's some wise words of Cole Trickle's crew chief Harry Hogge (I know, Days of Thunder bit ahead):

"When you were racing Indy cars, the tires were twice as wide, and the car weighed half as much. Now it's the opposite. You're in the car that weighs twices as much and the tires half as wide. You're burning them up. They melt and get greasy. You slip and slide and you're out of control. Let's go!"

There you go. I know. TONY STEWART! JEFF GORDON! JUAN PABLO MONTOYA! AJ ALLEMDINGER! You know what those guys have in common? They're accustomed to stock cars, not to mention that they're tolerant to the transition. That's part of the reason why Jeff Gordon won those four titles, Tony Stewart has two, Juan Pablo Montoya (also due to racing Formula 1 after racing IndyCars) won a road course race, and AJ Allmendinger had a rough start, but steadly improving in a Richard Petty Motorsports car.

Now let's look at how it went wrong for some. Sam Hornish, Jr. The kid just sucks. He's improving a little bit, but not enough to impress me. Maybe in another year or two and he'll be a contender. Dario Franchitti. Where do I begin? VERY rough season for him in stock cars. He's just terrible. The crash at Talladega in 2008 at the NASCAR Busch Series was the last straw in the eyes of many. Thankfully, he returned to IndyCars the next season and won at said LBGP race that I attended. Paul Tracy. Probably a good thing to give up and come back to IndyCar racing (ChampCar racing, to be percise) and does what he do best: turn on the Angry Canadian mode. There are a few others, but I won't mention them, partly because I don't know them well.

Why would Danica Patrick want to jump to NASCAR? Money, exposure, and brand recognition. The IRL IndyCar Series doesn't have them (and having most of the races shown on Versus for 10 years will not help one bit). That and she's a woman, and female racers are apparently a new thing to auto racing. She can drive IndyCars, but I doubt that she will do very well in stock cars. At least some Saturday Night short track racing would help transition. Or ARCA. Or the NASCAR Winston West/Busch East Series. NOT the Busch Series because it's too high of a level for her, according to me. NOT the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series because...well...everyone that can drive will complain about her erratic drivng style, and the media would praise her for finishing below 30th every week. Also, jumping to Cup instantly would be a disaster.

To sum it up: stay in IndyCars. Tell Tony George that he needs to get his head out of his ass and fix the damn series back to the glory days. With the turbos...and diverse chassis, engines, and even tires...and bigger fields...and interest as large as NASCAR today...and so much more. Please.
