Well to start off im not really bashing trophies (or achievements) here as im a hardcore achievement whore!!

I got my 14th platinum trophy yesterday and i was all happy as usualy because i got it in starwars and for the first time in a while i really struggled with a games difficulty. After about a week i got it anyway, i was trying my best to get it done quickly because i bought batman too but i wanted to get star wars out of the way so i could focus on batman. So i got stuck into batman as soon as i was done with starwars and i started to think that trophies were ruining the fun of batman for me.

Now before i get flamed or whatever hear me out. Starwars force unleashed is an ok game its fun for a quick run though and thats it, because of trophies i got a lot of playing out of it and i had fun (although i got angry a LOT!). Then batman arkham asylum is an amazing game. I was blown away by the opening cinimatic and after that i couldnt get enough of it.

After about 30 mins the trophy whore within came out and i studied the trophy list and got to work getting the trophies. most of them were coming along easily and i was enjoying the game too but then i came to some tough trophies (mainly the x40 combo for those who have played the game) and it killed me! as you play the game you get to enemies and you beat them up 1 punch is 1x to your combo so you need to get a 40 hit combo and considering this isnt dynasty warriors its actually hard to do..REALLY HARD!! i noticed instead of enjoying the story i was rushing through so i could find enemies to fight so i could get the combo up. once i finally got the trophy i looked back and realised i have just wasted thought a brilliant game for the sake of a trophy (for those of u who arent whores trophies become an addiction where buying a new game is exciting because there is new trophies) i couldnt help it though it was like an itch i had to get that trophy.

This is why im thinking. Star wars which is only an ok game was made much more fun and lasted a lot longer because of trophies was a good thing. So far (i havnt beat batman yet) i feel batman was for me slightly ruined by trophies. Now i know you cant have trophies only on bad games otherwise no games would have them because very dev thinks their game is the best thing ever (haze anyone) but i do feel that trophies are starting to effect how i enjoy games.

Im 1 of those people who really wants a mgs4 trophy patch but i have already beaten the story and took my time to slowly enjoy it. if the game gets patched there will be a trophy like beat the game in under 5 hours or something, now that right there is a game killer. 1 of the best games ever will be rushed for the sake of a trophy (which i and so many others will do) this holiday loads of great games will be out so im starting to wonder will trophies be ruining this holidays games for me?

I sure hope not but trophies have become an annoying addiction for me and are really effecting my gaming. i really wish all trophy lists were hidden and were not allowed to be posted online. that way i would have the joy of trophies and the fun of properly playing the game in the hope i might do something to get a trophy
