I'm back *w00t*. Okay, kinda. I just feel bored and want to blog about something.
School is as weird as ever. We had to build a bridge out of straws and pins for Physics. Ours turned out looking like a torture machine. Now we have to write a 700 word minimum essay about it ![]()
My class finally got a mentor: this new French teacher. She spent the whole lesson talking about stuff we already heard a hundred times, so most of us amused ourselves by making up politer versions of "No s***, Sherlock". Also she asked for our contact information, especially our mobile phone numbers
. I never even heard of any teacher doing that before. Maybe she's a stalker :O
Some of the students started a school Anime Club and the first meeting was today. After some pondering, I decided to join. It was a lot more fun than I expected. I'm not sure how many of the guys are going to dare come back after we decided to show our favourite yaoi amv's
They weren't anything hardcore, but their expressions were priceless. Another fun part was when we browsed a "Gothic Lolita Bible" and tried to figure out which models were female and which were male. It was quite surprising, actually ![]()
I also joined MUN. Fear my debating skills!
I'll also try and get into THIMUN.
We sold my bike to my mom's friend and her daughter, so now I got a new one. I seriously need to get used to the steering wheel though. I kind of biked into a parked car today...
I'm really happy about the amount of nice new people this year. By the end of last year our friend group table only had 5 permanent residents, and now we stretch over 1 and a half tables ![]()
I guess I should start with math homework. If I procrastinate any longer I'll probably end up in detention
See you guys on the forums!
School has finally started, even for me. I guess I'm a high schooler now... I even have a weird schedule to match (only 2 lessons on Wednesday
). The first day was entirely dedicated to "the importance of this two year programme" and our "Bridge theme". Figural, literal, if it has to do with bridges, we had to discuss it and present it at the end of the day. That kinda sucked. And everyone got their hopes up for nothing: the teaching and grading system is based "on continuous assessment" or something like that so technically there would be no use for exams. Still the teachers decided it would be good practice, since next year exams will suddenly start to count again. Go figure. At least they had the "decency" to not call them exams, but Huge Test Weeks.
Everything else was like it is every year I've been in this school. Half the good teachers are off on IB-Training in Stockholm so we're stuck with the weirdest and most strict of the whole teacher bunch as subs. Most of the home rooms don't have a home room teacher yet
. Schedules have already been changed 2 times (if not more, depending on the person) and are going to change again on Monday. The lockers are smaller, the books are bigger and hard back. The maths text book is so long and complicated that it's plain depressing. People are getting shuffled or are stuck in wrong classes. The school agendas are absolutely awful but I'm refusing to buy a normal one. I have a love-hate relationship with those things because it poses such a challenge to make them even slightly presentable. Unfortunatley the pages are coloured in the most ugly colours imaginable, so my old system is useless *pouts*.
The only thing that is worse than normal is that some of the old students who moved are still on the class list. Well, actually, it's quite normal, but this time the student who was left in all the files was one of my best friends, nicknamed "Slim Shady". She moved back to Canada over the vacation and we'll most likely never see each other again. It's not such a "small world" anymore. It turns out we were going to be in the same English, Physics, Maths, Spanish and even the same Business&Eco class. By the end of the day I was seriously cursing fate for rubbing it in my face. *sigh*
Anyway, it's only been two school days and I was already yearning for the weekend. Now I have it, but it's ending sooner than I hoped. Now that I read back, this blog is very rambly and a little personal. Sorry to bore you and I hope you all have better luck with school and/or work ![]()
PS: There are no new, cute guys in our year! At all! What is seriously up with this school!
I should have probably written something when I came back from Moscow, but I was too lazy. I'm a big procrastinator in general. It's a miracle I get the grades I do.
Anyway, tomorrow I'm leaving to go to Corfu (small Greek island between Italy and Greece, for those who don't know that. I didn't know either until a couple days ago). My mom is a pretty fierce believer in all kinds of superstition and old wives' tales. She thinks that close to everything can be cured with the right amount of sun and that tanned skin makes blonde headed women look infinitely more beautiful instantly. And she won't believe that UVA rays (ultra violet) found in sun light causes cancer. She shrugs it off as being total bull. WHEN IT'S A SCIENTIFICALLY PROVEN FACT!! And yet she believes that birth marks and freckles can tell your destiny...
Sorry, I'm ranting again, but it just gets so annoying after a while. Anyway, I won't have any kind of computer for a week. And, we're probably not going to take any kind of tours, so it'll be a little boring. Oh well, it's a good place to annoy the hell out of her
On a much lighter note, I went to the ABC store yesterday before buying my school stuff. It's a very good store in my country that sells only literature in English. Guess what I stumbled across just around the corner of the non-fiction section?... (drum roll, please) A metre-wide, ceiling-high shelf filled to the brim with translated manga *does weird lucky dance*! It's a little pricey, but I already made a list of what I'm going to buy and when. And the first thing on my list is already bought and ticked off: "Another Note: The Los Angeles BB Murder Cases". I read it in one sitting and it was even better than I imagined. I felt myself "aawing" mentally during the whole last chapter, even when Misora sent L tumbling down the stairs. And I fell on the floor laughing when she found Ryuzaki snooping around the 2nd victim's underwear drawer.
***SPOILER***
Good luck to everyone who is starting school soon!
PS: I got this awesome new pen with apple designs on it!! ![]()
