i dont know if everyone knows this or what, there is a 4 year old gamer holiday known as winter-een-mas. i feel bad because i never heard of it before a fellow gamer informed me of it. i dont think its very widely known, but thats what im writing this blog for. i doubt more than five people will end up reading this but if you would please just spread the word it would be nice. who knows. in a few years, maybe it could be a national holiday. or at least an unofficial national holiday. as far as i know, we gamers dont have a holiday of any sort yet so lets all come together and get into the winter-een-mas spirit. its not even about buying gifts. just having a good time, being kind to fellow gamers and maybe even thanking a few developers for making you're favorite games. it would be sad if basically the only chance of gamers having a holiday just curls up and dies so just spread the word

"you're such a fanboy" "do your research" "nonono im right you're wrong" "you have the right to remain silent"

im tired of hearing all of these things and although there's not much i can do about the last one aside from "changing my ways"(suuuure), im going to attempt the impossible. i will talk about the next gen systems without any bias or opinion. its probably going to fail horribly but its worth a shot. i would like to openly admit that i am a nintendo fan(boy) and these questions are directed mostly towards sony, but im not SAYING anything about them. the most im doing is making the question as clear as possible. im simply asking questions that should be taken neutrally but i doubt they will be. so just answer any questions in your comments and i'd like to stress that these questions aren't meant to imply anything.

exactly how much does blu-ray affect ps3 gameplay? not movies. not in-game movies. but gameplay

how much money has sony lost on ps3 so far?

how bad is psp doing compared to the ds?

how did umd work out for sony?

does sony actually make software? i.e. nintendo- zelda, mario, metriod, etc

when will sony start profiting?

who has the best in-game (again, not movie) graphics?

who has shortest load times when playing the same game on the different consoles?

what was the price of the blu-ray format sony put into the ps3?

how much more does it cost to make a bluray game verses a 360 game?

are any third party developers officially leaving sony?

what is the exact profit/deficit from each ps3, wii, and 360 sold? (in US dollars)

is ps3 greatly different from ps2?

if so, is that a good thing or a bad thing?

what would happen to the ps3 if blu-ray loses to hd?

could blu-ray lose to hd?

in what ways is ps3 better than the 360 and the wii in gaming?

how much does sony profit from software?

when could i be seeing ps3's for $400?

how many killer apps does ps3 need to get most people to buy it?

what was the purpose of the ps3 commercials with the crying baby and the exploding ravens?

are ps3's available or not?

is resistance fall of man a reason to get a ps3 or something you're just glad you can get on your ps3(directed to you ps3 owners)

is ps3 really the greatest multimedia machine out there?

should i care?

is regular dvd ready to be abandoned?

do most ps3 games have a 4 player split screen option?

are all ps3 internet features free?

does sony have something similar to wii's virtual console or 360's xbox live arcade?

will sony make a cheaper 2.0 of the ps3, almost like the ps2 slim?

what will be the main drive for most people wanting the ps3, the games or everything else?

could people actually buy, play, and enjoy both the ps3 AND the wii at once?

after considering all the questions above, who do you honestly think will win the console wars?

all i have left to say is that i hope i get a plethora of viewpoints instead of just sony fans or nintendo fans. and no im not mistakenly leaving microsoft out of most of the things i say. i have a secret hidden plan. you'll see soon enough

oh and how many licks does it take to get to the tasty chocolately center of a toosie pop? i count 4672 but i maybe off.

ok. so here's what i got out of the last console wars.

gamecube-deny as i might, aimed toward kids and family fun; cheap and fun

ps2-in the middle with both kiddy games and mature games; even mix between low price and good hardware

xbox-aimed toward an older audience;expensive for its time, but great graphics and frame rate

the one in the middle clearly won that console war. not because sony is the best. not because microsoft and nintendo are the worst. its because they were the middle ground. alot of parents would get their kids an xbox because of the price and the lack of appeal to children. and of people in their 20's living on their own refused to degrade their entertainment system with that "purple lunchbox". but parents would be more likely to buy the slightly less expensive ps2 and those 20 yr olds would like the type of games on it as well. ps2 was the middle ground and won the last console war. THIS is different however.

Wii-STILL aimed towards kids and family fun; still cheap and fun

PS3-aimed toward people who want an all in one entertainment system(mainly an older audience);a little too expensive for its time but great for multimedia use

Xbox360-focused more on gaming than watching movies;great mix between next gen hardware and fairly reasonable price

do you see where im going with this? the one in the middle ground is more likely to win than the others. in a nintendo fan personally. i have a wii and no 360 yet but i have to admit it. if you really think about it, the 360 is the only one who's target consumer is people who play video games. the wii wants to infect american homes with "don't i look like im having fun?" games in an attempt to convert the non-gamers. the ps3 want to infect american homes with an "ok you bought me and i show you pretty things" system in an attempt to get more people into blu-ray. the 360 gives you the OPTION to buy the system without the HD player if you're like me and will somehow find a way to survive without being able to see mucus dripping from the actor's nose hair while you watch the complete 20th season of friends. not only that, but the 360's online is actually... um... what's the word i'm looking for... good, perhaps? they have years of fine tuning xbox live as experience to make the 360's online way better than anyone else's.

final note, call me a visual retard if you wish, but it seems to me that the ps3's $600 worth supercalifragilisticespialidcious graphics aren't any better than the 360's graphics when looking at the same game on the two different systems side by side.

final, final note, nintendo has its own thing going by targeting an extremely larger, and greatly different consumer. they could hold their own or maybe even beat out the 360. but sony is... no comment. makes for a great cheap blu-ray player though.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like cwgr8621.
cwgr8621 must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could cwgr8621 possibly have for not rating a single film?
