So, um, Tekken 6, huh? That's the big announcement that has PS3 fans ready to riot and 360 owners squealing with delight? Really?
I'd be more interested to hear about a Blu-Ray add-on for the 360, or Metal Gear Solid making the jump to Xbox-land. Those are some noteworthy announcements. I guess you could add the fact that I really don't care about Tekken 6, as I'm not that good at these new fangled fightin' games.
Halo 3: Recon? Well, Microsoft has a slam dunk set for this holiday season with Gears 2, and now it's set itself up nicely for next year with this one. Good business strategy, says I. My only wonder, however, is if this is too soon to drop another Halo game. Sure, it'll sell like butter at a toast convention, but with this and Halo Wars, they may run the risk of burning out their fanbase.
Another fairly big news blip in the past few days is the coming of the DSi next year. So, by my calculations, we should be seeing a brand new Nintendo handheld in the next few years. Want proof?
Each Game Boy has had 3 revisions. First generation saw the original Game Boy, the GB Color, and the GB Pocket. Next was the Game Boy Advance, followed by the GBA SP, and then the GB Micro. Finally, this generation has the DS, the DS Lite, and soon the DSi. See there, that's what you call science, people!
Anyhoo, I don't think I'll be tripping over myself to get this one. I have no interest in the camera applications, if I wanna take a picture of something, the wifey has about 5 digital cameras of varying sizes and prices lying around. The bigger screens don't mean much to me unless they're going to serve some new purpose. The loss of the GBA slot is a killer too, as I'm not about to buy an older handheld just for GBA games.
The only thing of interest to me is the idea of connectivity to a DS Store to download demos or games or whatnot, but that's not enough to make me want to upgrade right now.
Did I spell "frivolity" right? Eh, screw it.
Carrying on a tradition started last weekend, I spent this weekend playing a harmless little "fun" game, in this case, Cars. This was another notch taken out of the EA Family Fun 3-Pack that cost me a whopping $14.99. Much like Open Season before it, I can't find much bad to say about this one. I mean, obviously it's meant for the younger set, but you could squeeze a day's enjoyment out of it, like myself.
I had to send back Guitar Hero Aerosmith due to downgrading my Gamefly account to 1 game at a time (the free 2 at a time deal expired), so I decided to bust out GH 2 and try to snag some Achievement fruit off of that tree. I'm also nearing the end of my rather epic Marvel: Ultimate Alliance run, though I may have to do some finangling for the various "complete the game with X amount of people" Achievements.
After all this hub-bub wears down, I'll probably get back into Gears of War to stave off NeonNinja's frenzy, and to see if I can find something in the game to really hook me. Maybe a little GTA IV to take off the sting will help. Shooting hookers in the face will do that for ya.
All the really good Duke Nukem quotes have probably already been used as blog titles, so I'll stick with one of the more cliched ones.
I tried the Duke Nukem 3D demo not expecting much, but I played the game on and off in my high school computer ****(we had a really laid back teacher) and always liked the parody aspect of the game, so I figured why not?
I'm surprised how well the game's held up all these years later, and the wifey thinks the rather dated graphics look, and I'm directly quoting, "cute". Even more surprising is the lack of a motion sickness headache that I used to get from older FPS's. All that noise adds up to a new XBL Arcade game for me! Whoo!
On the Gamefly font, I've been pecking away at Guitar Hero: Aerosmith. Not much to say about it, it's a Guitar Hero game, and...umm....it's about Aerosmith.....yep. Oh, and I've got WALL-E coming in the next day or so. yeah, I kind of liked the demo, big deal, wanna fight about it?
So now that October's in full swing, I've got less than a month to polish off some backlog games to add to the Fallout 3 trade-in stack. I expect to finish off Oblivion once and for all tonight, as I've literally finished everything in that game. Kind of sad to see that one end, actually.
Marvel Ultimate Alliance might take another week or so of off-an-on gaming, as the wifey's not too fond of the game. Too much talking, she says, and I think I agree, you spend waaaay too much time gabbing with people in this game. I still like the Gauntlet-esque gameplay though, and hope things get streamlined a bit in the sequel.
Now comes the problem. There are 3 big games coming out this month that I must own, lest ye feel the wrath of the salami. Fallout 3 is a given (duh), and the other two, not surprisingly, are Saint's Row 2 and Fable 2. I can get away with one, but the other will likely have to wait until Christmas. So which one do I choose? I need scientifically proven facts to sway my opinion, so crack open those books!
