In the Beginning............

If someone were to look back at the stage demos that Nintendo teased us with at the E3's that led up to the launch of the Wii one would likely have seen that there is great potential for this system; but once the launch hit we found out that in fact Nintendo had done the same thing that they did with the Gamecube, they launched the system with mediocre thrid party titles and of course the latest incarnation of one of the companies mainstays. This was in my humble opinion the weakest of the launches for any of the next gen consoles; The Wii seems to have fizzled on the lauchpad and seems to be content with sitting there for a good long time, Now this comes as a shock when you look at the potential that the Wii has that lies untapped.

The Problem.............?

Now it the problem with the Wii is not as easy to see as it was with the other next gen systems; we saw that the 360 still had a whole host of problems when it launched, and the PS3 was sold to the fans based on what it one day might be. But the Wii is a whole other kettle of fish as it were; I personally can't tell if the fault lies withNintendo for not getting the hardware under control before the launch, or whther the game developers should be blamed for thier lack of polish on the games. I fear that some of the problems that crippled the gamecube may have come back with the Wii; Nintendo still refuses to let anyone else make any games for the Wii because they feel that either they are incompetent or the good folks at Nintendo are simply better than everyone else.

The Solution.............

As I said earlier there is no easy way to tell what the problem with the Wii is and therefore one cannot give a definative answer to what should be done to fix it; but if I were to give my opinion I would say that Nintendo should give other developers achance wit hthe Wii and that the gamers should hold the developers responsable for giving us quality games not just games that are "better than the other crap".

The End...............

In closing I think that the the Wii could have a strong future if the folks at Nintendo allow it and if the developers actually put time and effort into it.

What is it?

Innovation is when people get together and throught the miracle of combined brain power they create something that people want adn have never seen before. Recently we saw Portal take the game of the year award at GDC and that led to this: why don't we see more of this? and why is it that when we see it, it goes away and is not see nfor a long time. I think that we see very little innovation because the developers would rather deliver the same old stuff and have people eat it up than to take a chance on a new idea and have it get less sales but show that they're not just pulling out the same old crap to make more money.

What do we do?

WE don't, innovation is not just something that we can force on people and say "it's new and shiny please come buy it" innovation can only be acheived by sleepless nights and many toiling days. But after much thinking you can come up with this spark of innovation that will set the industry ablaze with a new idea that, If you try something new, people WILL buy it and you WILL a) set a newbar for the rest of the industry to meet, and b) you'll acheive your goal of having enough money that you can actually roll around in it.

Huh?

Basically this was written to address and praise the acheivements of companies like Valve who are not now or ever have been afraid to push the envelope and risk vast amounts of money on new ideas and new gameplay that will go down in the history books as the games and game mechanics that will be remembered and used until the entire human race goes extinct.

Sincerely.

What the hell is going on?

Where are all of these ill-literate fools coming from? when I joined this site I saw that most of the posters were mature and seemed to have a reasonable command of the english language. Now when I browse the boards I see more and more people posting about non-sequitor crap that has no bearing in what is being discussed. They seem to spread over the great tubes of the internet and infect those who were normal, when I look and see how many people act stupid it makes me wonder where this site will be in 2 years.

What should we do?

These people are spreading everywhere and seem to flock to gamespot as a place to put the idiotic ideas that crowd the over cooked-noodles that they call heads. I think that we should overthrow the moderators.... or at least get them involved when someone is asking a question that is legitimate and these fools swoop in and be-little something that this person came to ask people who they believe can help. In the end I say that we go and block them by acting like they don't exist because when we do we validate what they do.

Who's to blame?

I say that anyone who sits idly by and wathes as these inconsiderate fools take over gamespot are just as bad as they are. I also place the blame on those who haven't got enough self-control to ignore these fools and feel the need to go and respond to every inane thing that spews from their gaping maw.

Some people just don't have opinions. Like crow114.
crow114 must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could crow114 possibly have for not rating a single film?
