Episode 5

Old Habits Die Hard

The camera zooms in on Cassie running through the park. (We hear 'Bring Me To Life' by Evanescence). She's breathing heavily and sweating, she's been running for a long time. She has her headphones on and the music on really loud. She starts to run faster and faster pushing herself, even though she can barely take it. The music stops, and Cassie falls to the ground. She's sits there breathing heavily. Her eyes start to get a bit watery, she raises her hand and stares at it. We see a wristband around her wrist. She finally gets up, and continues to run, the music starts blasting again, same song. (Cuts to opening credits).

Ethan gets out of the shower. He goes in his room and looks at the picture of him and Brianna. He takes the frame and puts it away. He turns on the radio ("I Was On A Mountain" by Hot Music Water is playing). He continues to get ready. The scene cuts to Jake playing football with some of the guys. The song is still playing. From across the field Jake sees Ethan coming by. He ignores him and continues to play. Ethan walks up to the guys and starts to play. Ethan and Jake are on opposing teams. (The song still playing this whole time). Jake gets the ball and runs toward the touchdown. Ethan runs towards him. He's running fast, full speed. He tackles Jake. 'What the hell man, this is a fuc ken game, and you need to chill' yells Jake as he gets up. 'Yea it's a game, and it's tackle so quit your whining and get going cause your team seems to be behind.' Jake looking pissed gets up and gets ready for the next play.

Cassie walks into the house. Margaret is in the kitchen and hears her, but doesn't say anything. Cassie says hi to Ellie, and goes upstairs. ("Stay" by Michelle Featherstone starts to play). She enters her room and lays on the bed. She closes her eyes - flashback. We see Cassie walking down the stairs in another house. She sees her dad sitting at the table. He turns to her when he notices her. She notices the look on his face and immediately runs upstairs to another room. She opens the closet doors and it's empty. Everything is gone. Margaret walks in as Cassie starts to cry. Back in her room. She opens her eyes. Stares at the ceiling.

Ethan stands in line as Dena walks up to him. 'Hey, how's life going today?' Ethan, happy to see her answers with a laugh, 'You know, same old, nothing new since yesterday.' She gives a shy smile. He asks if she would like to sit down for lunch. 'Lunch is on me, if you accept of course.' Dena with a big smile on her face sits down. We see them eating and laughing the whole time.

Ethan enters his house with a big smile. He sees his mom coming from the kitchen, not looking happy at all. 'Ethan, where were you, you were supposed to watch your sister.' Ethan looks at her, 'Mom, I totally forgot, I just got caught up with football and everything else.' 'Yea well while you were caught up, I missed my flight, there was no one to watch Katie' she explains. 'Ok well I'm home now so go, maybe you can' interrupted by his mother, 'No I can't make it, God Ethan, I asked you be here at noon.' 'What do you want from me mom?' Ethan asks looking hurt. 'You're never at home, it's always business trips with you, you're a freaking shrink, how many trips can you take?' 'Why don't you spend some time with the family' he looks away and then back at her looking mad...'you know I'm not suprised dad left' he finally remarks. His mom shocked, stands there, and tears start coming down her cheeks. Ethan mad at himself, leaves the room.

Jake enters his apartment. He goes to the couch and lays down. The door opens and Brianna walks in. He looks at her, frustrated. 'What the hell do you want? I told you not to come around here anymore.' Brianna with a smile, 'Haven't we been over this? You want me Jake, and you should feel privliged that I'm giving you the time of day.' Jake raises his head, looking at her. Brianna walks up the the couch and starts kissing him. He kisses back. He turns her over and gets on top. He takes her shirt off, and he does the same with his. Suddenly, Jake jumps up from the couch, 'Get out' he points to the door. Brianna looking suprised and pissed, 'What? Are you kidding me.' 'Get out of my apartment' Jake continues. She puts her shirt on and leaves in a hurry. Jake sits on the couch and puts his hands on his head. He stares at a heart necklace hanging from one of the lights.

Cassie walks into a store, just wandering around. She grabs some clothes and goes to try them on. She gets out of the dressing room to get to a mirror. As she's standing there Brianna walks out from another dressing room. 'Mind getting out of my way?' she demands as she tries to get to the mirror. Cassie looks at her and ignores her. Brianna grabs Cassie's arm and throws her against the dressing room door. 'Did you not hear me? Get out of my way.' Cassie pushes Brianna out of the way and slaps her across the face. Brianna slaps back and soon we see hair pulling and slaps all over the dressing room. Brianna pushes Cassie to the floor. As Cassie is getting up she notices a red mark on the sleeve of the shirt she was trying on. It's right by the wrist. She doesn't want Brianna to see anything so she just heads back to change, but Brianna grabs her by the hair again. 'Where are you going b!tch I'm not done with you.' Cassie quickly moves towards her and pushes her into one of the mannequins. That's when one of the clerks comes in. 'What's going on over here?' she looks at them pissed. Cassie gives a look and goes in to change. She quickly runs out of the dressing room and the store. The clerk goes into the dressing room that Cassie was in a walks out screaming at Brianna. 'Hey where did you friend go, she got something on this shirt.' Brianna turns around and sees the red mark, right by the wrist. A smile comes across her face. 'She's not my friend, but I'll take that shirt, along with this stuff. Can you ring me up?'

Music montage starts, "Run" by Snow Patrol. Ethan walks to his mom's room and sees her on the bed. He stands in the doorway looking at her. She doesn't notice him. Brianna walking out of the store with a smirk across her face. Jake taking the heart necklace and throwing it against the wall. Cassie walking into a public bathroom. She goes into a stall and takes something out of her purse. Margaret cleaning Cassie's bathroom. She opens the bottom shelf looking for a clean towel, but finds something else. The camera zooms in on her as she unfolds the towel and starts to cry. Ellie is heard crying on Cassie's bed.
