Well, it seems like it's been eons since I've written a blog - March to be exact. My son has been threatening to log on as me and write one for me if I didn't get the lead out, lol. So here it is. I bet he will be shocked when he logs on and finds a blog by Mom.
Where to start?
First off, it seems like these months just go by like a blur. *A warning to you teens out there - the older you get, the faster time goes by, so enjoy yourselves and don't be in a hurry to grow up. * Just call me Dear Abby, lol.
Well, I guess most of you guys are finally out of school. Matt and his sis have been out since May 22nd - already three weeks. ![]()
We've been pretty busy with his sis' softball games, which I have thoroughly enjoyed. Her team ended the regular season with an 8-2 record, though we are replaying one of the teams tonight because they were being whiny babies -- actually, during the last game, after they batted first in the first inning, one of their coaches came up and said he noticed that the distance from the pitcher to the batter was off and that if we won, they wre going to protest our win. We offered to let them bat again, but the umpire said no, couldn't do that. We even offered to let our kids bat a round, with the measurement off. No, couldn't do that either. (And actually, our kids only made one point that inning) So we'll replay them tonight. I still think we'll win because our girls are good. ![]()
After tonight, we will go to the playoffs on July 7th, and will be guaranteed to play two games. (Wish us luck!)
As I mentioned before, the kids have been out 3 weeks so far, but they've already been talking about being bored. Matt says he misses his friends - but not school. Guess I can relate. ![]()
But we finally got a chance to take a little vacation last week. You may already know if you've been following Matt's blogs. We went to a waterpark resort. It's been open just since this past January. It was really nice - and fun!! We stayed in a room that had a separate "kid cabin" area for the kids with a set of bunk beds, one other bed and their own tv. I told them that was no fair, that us parents wanted to trade places with them.
I don't remember there being so many "neat" things when I was a kid, though in fairness to my parents, we did have our share of vacations and fun. ![]()
I'm sure Matt has already told you that I got scared on one of the water rides. He, his dad and sis rode a lot of the water slides. I wouldn't ride them, but when his Dad and little sister went back to the room, I decided I would try one of them just once (just to say I rode it, ha). It was one of those that you ride down on a tube.
Now mind you, I rode many water rides as a teen, but add 25+ years since then, and I swear, they just ain't the same as they used to be. As I climbed the stairs to the top, my heart started racing wildly. I told myself to calm down, it's just a silly water ride, for goodness sake! I boarded my tube and held on, waiting for the guy to give me the green light to go, and I was off!! I admit it!! I was scared sh*tless, pardon my french, lol. I cussed to myself all the way down and even spun halfway around.
I was afraid I was going to come out backwards, but I got myself turned around before I got there. I was so glad to be off that ride and stuck to the swimming pools after that. You guys just wait - in 25 or 30 years, those rides may not seem as fun! But they didn't seem to affect my husband the same way.
He had a blast on them. Oh well.
And then of course, there was the arcade and the gr8 tech room (with laptops and x-box games, etc.) That was fun too. Overall, it was a great vacation. It wasn't a long trip which made it more relaxing and everything was there at the lodge. Didn't have to do all that driving to get from point A to point B.
Maybe we'll take another one or two mini-trips this summer. Not for sure yet. Hope all you guys are having a great summer so far. Talk to you later!
G'day mates!! ![]()
Hi guys. I see everyone's playing the tag game and I thought I'd play too. ![]()
Let's see....let me things of five interesting facts about myself....
1. I had a terrible phobia of stinging insects growing up. I'm still a little scared of them but not as much.
2. I am left-handed. Any lefties here?
3. I played in the percussion section when I was in school band for 7 1/2 years. I played a lot of the auxillary instruments. My last couple of years, I played the xylophone. Had to march with that big heavy instrument strapped to me and it weighed like 28 lbs.
4. Some of my favorite hobbies are gardening, watching a good movie and spending time with family.
5. My favorite colors are red and purple.
Well, those are a few cookiefoot facts.
Guess you guys heard about Dirk's night at the dance. I think he's still got his head in the clouds, ha,ha. I'm sitting here at my laptop in the dining room and he's over there playing Sim City 4. And again, just to clarify, his Dad and I did not hang out at the dance all night. The dance was from 6 pm to 9 pm so we dropped him off a little after 6 pm and we went and ate at the little restaurant there in town. After that, it was about 7:30. We debated about going home but since his school is a 20 minute drive from our town, we thought it'd be a waste of time so we took Dirk's little sister to their school playground. It was lit up so she was able to see. It was funny. We were sitting there in our van, and all of a sudden, I saw this figure in my rearview mirror running toward us. It scared me but it turned out to be Dirk's Athletic coach. He was playing with his little son. I don't think he expected anybody to be in the van because we were just parked there. He seemed a little flustered but he was in a good mood. He is usually more prim and proper. Anyway, he said we ought to go over to the dance - that the kids were having a blast and that more parents were there. This was about 8:20. Well, I didn't feel right about going in and imposing, so we just hung out in the parking lot until 8:45. And that's when we made our appearance. We even tried to be inconspicuous, but wouldn't you know it, Dirk's principal pointed us out to Dirk!! Anyway, I think Dirk had a really good time. It's funny because all the kids were saying that they weren't going to go because of girls breaking up with them. However, most everybody was there and everybody was dancing. It was a really good turnout and I think the teachers were glad that the kids really had a good time.
Well, since basketball season is over with, we'll have more time at home, unless I can talk Dirk into playing baseball, but I doubt it, so I'm not going to press him. His sister may play though.
Guess that's it for now. Later folks!!.
Okay guys, yeah, it's been a while since I've blogged. So much to do and so little time, but I always like to drop by when I can. As Matthew told you, my husband had been in the hospital recently, so that's kept us going a lot. He's okay. It wasn't anything serious, thank goodness, but he did have to get 2 units of blood. And then there's the kids basketball games and religion ****s....![]()
Anyway, there is a SPECIAL reason for this blog today. It is Matthew's birthday!!
My son is growing up!! *sniff, sniff*
Where does the time go?!? I tried inserting a baby picture of him up above. I'll see if it works. It didn't work.
I'll see if Matthew can help me with it later. He was about a year old in this picture and already finding electric cords!! Had to keep a close eye on him at this age. Did he ever tell you guys about the time he put his wooden blocks in the microwave? His Dad and I were having a discussion at the time when all of a sudden we noticed smoke coming from the kitchen!! OMG!! It was the first time Matthew learned how to turn the knob to the microwave!! Yes, kids definitely keep you on your toes but they are always a blessing. I just wanted to dedicate this blog to him and celebrate his birth which was a special time in our lives and he continues to bring us much joy.
It was the first time I became a mother - at the ripe old age of 30!! Lots of memories and great times and a lot of milestones such as crawling to walking to talking to potty training to going to school for the first time to losing his first tooth and so on. Wonder what it'll be like when he learns to drive?? ![]()
You guys come by my blog to wish Matthew a Happy Birthday! I took him a cookie cake to school and celebrated with his cla$$mates. Tonight his little sister has a basketball game and we may go eat and see a movie afterwards (that is, if he does all his homework, lol. He and his cousin were goofing off a little earlier.)
I'll close this blog out for now so I can get it posted. Hope everyone's having a good day!! ![]()
