I'm not sure what I should be posting on the forums. I have been supremely disapointed with the quality of the discussions that occur in the forums, and many of the topics seem irrelevant and unimportant. I have been equally unimpressed with the unions. I felt that perhaps uniting a topic under one banner would force more intimate and engaging conversation about said subject. Instead it is filled with the same drivel that can be found in the regular forums just in a more focused format.
What is wrong with the boards you ask? For one thing posts are extremely short and lacking in depth. An example would be the post that asks which of two games to buy...most posts just have a the game preferred listed. Instead I feel a discussion of the merits of both games, or one of the two if you have only played one and the reasons why it would be a better purchase than the other. Another example are the posts that seem to get nowhere. Evidently there is this urge just to post a topic for the sake of posting. I feel that more thought should be given to posts...do not just post your opinion for others to read it (you can use the journals to do that) instead post a question about a particular type of gaming or a specific game that requires some thought and let others contribute their opinion to the topic (If you agree with one of the posters then you may echo their thoughts in one of your own).
Basically give all your posts some serious thought before throwing them out there...and then make sure that if you are commenting on a post that your reply is well considered. Perhaps all forums are not like this...I am considering starting a union called the snob gamers just so that a level of quality control is imposed on the posts (and all of us snobs can discuss together).
Let me know if you would be interested...
