For a while, I was thinking that Desmond was Jacob, because the "eye" in the cabin looked like his, but now I'm starting to think Jacob is Jack. Jack could most definitely be a shorter version of the name Jacob. There are a few reasons why I think this. First off, why are Claire and Christian, Jack's dad and sister the only ones allowed to stay in Jacob's cabin? Perhaps I just answered my own question, because they are his father and sister. Just like why Christian can speak for Jacob, maybe it's because he is his father. Second, in the mobisode finale we see Christian tell Vincent to go wake up his son because "he has work to do." We all know Christian was kind of an ass in all or most of Jack's fb's, so why the hell would he care about Jack saving everybody? I know he was a doctor, but still, he was an ass.
So here comes Jack crashing on the island where he sort of creates a Utopia like atmosphere where the bad (Sawyer, Kate, Sayid...) turn out to be good people, and where everyone, even if for a short while, live in a type of harmony. They stop living this way out of fear, fear of the unkonown i.e the others. So the man of science wants off the island, but when he finally gets off, he wants back because Locke told him a lot of bad stuff happend because HE left the island, not everyone else, but him. Why him? It was almost like it was Locke's job to get Jack to stay, but he failed, so he was punished just like Ben was. I think a lot of people thought that Locke was going to be the "special one," but he proved in his fb with Richard that he wasn't.
I'm hoping to see a fb of Jack as a baby where it is revealed that his birth name was Jacob, but I don't think that will happen for a while. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I do recall the producers saying that we already know who Jacob really is. The only thing that will release Jacob is himself, Jack. Until Jack can believe and get to the cabin, it's like he's stuck. The show started with Jack's eye opening, and now all we see of Jacob is his eye. I know the eye in the cabin doesn't look like Jack, but there could be some sort of explanation for that. Everyone who has seen Christian on the island has either been able to catch up to him or talk to him except Jack. Maybe it's not unitl he finds the cabin, but until he can catch up to his father and wherever he is leading him to that he can become Jacob.
It would actually be kind of ironic if this were the case as far as the fans go. I can't say this for sure, but it seems to me that most people that do not like Jack are really into sci-fi and they don't like Jack because he is the man of science. I'm not a sci-fi fan usually, so I like Jack, because for me he gives a kind of rational explantion for the show, so it doesn't seem too out there. So, then they go and turn everything around on us and the fans that have always followed Jack turn out to be the ones following faith as opposed to science. I just think it is something the writers would most definitely do to us. Anyhoo, that's my theory...
This is the best Lost related article I've ever read. Sorry Skaters, but you had to know they would never be....This is from the Lost magazine. The first round of questions were answered by Evangeline Lilly.
Q: Did you see the meltdown of Kate and Jack in Something Nice Back Home as a bump in the road - or is it a seminal moment in their relationship that alludes to the possibility that they may never really work it out?
A: I think it's more of bump in the road. I also believe that if Jack and Kate could just sort it out, they could make each other very happy. Ultimately, that's what they need. Without love, everything else pales and feels like the colors are turned down. For Jack to give over to the vulnerability of loving Kate, and for Kate to give that over to Jack, it would be so momentous, and that's why they can't bring us there yet. Essentially, what I feel it will represent is that they actually redeemed themselves. They faced their demons and insecurities and made such a significant step forward in their lives that they will probably now be harmonious in a way they have never been before. But I don't think we can bring them to that point yet. It's too early. However, it would be so nice to not play this subtle angst that has been going on for years and just play something overt and on the nose. I think if you were watching a couple like that who were your friends, you'd want to bang your head against a wall. In this situation, I feel the same thing on the outside looking in, thinking, "Good grief! Just get to it already!" It's hard being so torn all the time. Just settle down [laughs]!
Q: With the shift to Jack and Kate being more prevalent this season, was it hard to let go of what you did last year in all the bonding with Sawyer?
A: It's frustrating and hard when they make you do a 180. They have pushed and pushed to develop this thing on one end, and then they stop and say, "Turn around and go the other way." You work really hard at something and then you have to deconstruct it in a way.
"With Faraday, Kate was immediately - in a completely platonic way - charmed by him. You don't see Kate smile a lot on the island, and the only person she's ever been charmed by is Sawyer, and that was in a lustful way."
Josh's Comments:
Q: There was a big shift between Kate and Sawyer this season. After Kate left the camp it really played out like the end of their affair. How did you feel about that?
A: Sawyer has always known that he and Kate were a long shot. His step towards growth was to give it a go. Her rejection was almost a relief to him. It's bitter-sweet because he's sure he would eventually ruin it anyway, so there is acceptance there.
Q: When did you get a sense the tide had changed and Kate was really going to choose Jack?
A: When the story says so... and the story said so.
Q: It was pretty heartbreaking - your kiss and whisper to Kate in the helicopter. How did that closure feel for you and how will it affect James to come?
A: Sawyer realized that he and Kate probably would not be together. Jumping from the chopper was the closure to their relationship and an ultimate sacrifice for her and for his his friends that he has come to care for.
Ok, I'm getting kind of confused about Jack's drunken ways. When the show started, Jack didn't drink that much, at least that was what we were made to believe. When they replayed the finale from last year before the premier of this year, it said that Jack was not much of a drinker, which I think we knew.
Here's my two questions- Why did Sarah ask Jack if he was drinking again when she came to the hospital? If he had never been a big drinker, there would be no reason for her to say this. Which means one or two things, either Jack went to see Sarah drunk after getting back from the island, or it was just a line to throw into the episode because Jack was drinking a lot.
Now for my second question- Jack was drinking on the plane before the original crash, not a big deal, a lot of people drink on planes, myself included, and his dad just died, you know basic reasons for drinking, however, the plane crashed and then he pulled the little shooter out of his pocket and looked at it with a very strange look on his face while his hand were shaking. I know that he had just been in a crash, and he was probably in shock, but it was just really strange the way he looked at the bottle and the shaking, seriously go back and watch. What I'm starting to get at is maybe this is a timeloop, and Jack is reliving this again. Now, I don't like this theory that people have come up with because it is too obvious to us hard core fans, but if you re-watch the pilot again up until Jack meets Kate, it seems like he is reliving this situation, but when he saw her, it was almost like he snapped out of it, not to mention he disappears for a while when they go see the cockpit. Up until this point, we were basically seeing everything through Jack's eyes up until this point. Where the Hell did he go? He said he was running away from the smoke monster, but I don't by it, it's tooconvenient.
Why would Matthew Fox be the only one to know the endgame of the show? Maybe so he could start acting a certain way from the get go.
