Cripes, I can't update my emblem.
Anywho,
Since I also am having trouble putting a picture in my blog, I can't post a picture of my most senior of dogs, Misty. Maybe this link will work Misty Dawn. Yes, it does
A recurring issue has been her teeth. The Other Half has been against getting major dental work for Misty because of her size and age. Our vet was not pushing the issue until earlier this year. As detailed (sorta) in this blog HERE!. I rushed Misty to the vet last December. While there they did some blood work and noticed that her potassium was low along with some other stuff that I didn't understand. The vet gave me some vitamins for her and thought that her teeth were the problem. Poodles are known for having crappy teeth and dental issues. He thought that she had a lot a bacteria from her teeth coursing through her body that was making it hard on her.
When I took her back to the vet two weeks later, her blood work was completely normal, of course, but we both agreed that she was going to have to have some serious dental work. He also said that he too had been hesitant to tackle the job because of her age. He said "I thought the teeth would outlast the dog" but since Misty refuses to let any health issue get to her, he figured we may as well take care of it. In the end poor Misty had all but 3 teeth removed. Because she has a bit of arthritis the pain meds she got for her mouth have put a big dose of pep in her step.
She is very demanding now and I'm spoiling her rotten. She's on Science Diet K/D wet but if I'm too slow to feed her she'll eat the other dogs dry food. She has put on almost 2 pounds and all in all doing better. She has a good chance of making it quite a few more years.

skeeter291- She is adoraable. Thank you for your sentiment.
Rev-I've had Misty longer than any other dog, ever. Al she wants to do is love us (and eat 5 times a day).

RE She is very demanding now and I'm spoiling her rotten.
The only type of dog worth having is a spoiled rotten one.

Nylon bone, finger brush, just some of the things I use to aid canine dental care. Sorry about your poodle. Hope she improves.

Sorry I am late blopping by but hugs to you and Misty. I have an 18 year old cat and it's hard to watch them age because I never want to have life without them. Treasure the great gift her life is and keep on energizing!

KarenHilly- Misty woul agree with you
spyrick-Misty will not let me near her remaining teeth for anything now. She's still mad.
Kimba-It is hard watching, sometimes. Her pain medicine has helped her be uber perky though.
Happy-Poor, poor pooch.
Lady_T-Misty agrees with you.
