I recently heard that a program block that I enjoyed greatly as a kid is now cancelled. The block was called Toonami and it practically introduced me to anime such as DBZ, Sailor Moon, Gundam, etc. Realizing this, I also noticed the quality of programing on television nowadays is EXTREMELY CRAPPY!!!!!!!
Let me start with the reality shows. Ever since Survivor began on CBS in 2000, the show was extremely popular, hell I even liked it. But this the higher ups in television decided "Hey since this was popular, lets see if we can make more!". Then started a whole wave of crappier shows like Joe Millionare, American Idol, Dancing with the Stars, and The Moment of Truth. They kept bringing in new seasons of each shows and it gets so boring! Instead of hearing "Great new shows coming this fall" its instead "Who will be in the next season of Dancing with the Stars!". I am so sick of it!!
Next is the quality of the scripted shows. They are so boring and unimagnitive that they can make you hang yourself. The people that creates these shows don't even have any originality anymore. I heard that there was going to be some remake or somthing of 90210. I remembered that show when it was in the 90's! I can't believe that they are looking back at the 90s for ideas for "new" shows! All the ones that were good like Malcolm in the Middle, Titus, That 70's Show, The Drew Carey Show, and others are nothing but a memory now! All it is is just dumbass shows that claim to be "original"!
One last thing, what hell are kids watching today! I remembered Pokemon, Jackie Chan Adventures, CardCaptors, Johnny Bravo, DBZ, Dexter's Lab, etc. were the coolists shows out there and they made me and my sister happy when stuff in real life wasn't all that good. But I realized today that 1. Anime isn't very popular with kids anymore 2. Kids want to watch this cowder or drama island bullcrap that basically just has people act stupid and have no good jokes or puns at all and 3. It seems that animation is just stupid to kids now since this "Hannah Montana" crap came around. Kids are so weird these days. They would rather watch a crummy live action "comedy" than a neat little cartoon. But even the animation is cruddy. And when an anime does come one, its one that is just another pokemon ripoff! Not to metion I can't find more mature anime anymore since adult swim would rather show Tim and Eric's pointless show than a nice, new quality anime anymore. I have to search for the DVDs to get that nowadays
I know that TV goes with the saying "Out with the old, in with the new", but the new just doesn't do it for me anymore. The only reason I will ever use a TV is for videogames and DVDs!
Well that's it for now. Please comment so I can hear your opinion. See you guys later!
Well due to the hurricane Ike and the fact I live in Texas (yay...) I was without electricity for about a week. Then my grandfather overloaded the generator which toasted the DSL and a few other things. Got a new DSL modem and I am back in business. It was pretty bad. But I bought Bleach: The Blade of Fate for my DS and it kept me busy as well as all the crappy college work.
Also I am going to make a rant on my next blog about how much T.V. sucks these days. I just heard recently that Toonami, a block I grew up with and made me and Janafflover very happy, just got CANCELLED. I don't know why. It might of been the crappy way that CN was handling it or something. Even though I haven't watched it in a VERY LONG TIME, it still saddens me. That cool anime block was so neat when I was young. Here's the farewell message if you haven't seen it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ofu9SLxxupM
TV is now just a piece of crap filled with nonsense shows, crappy reality television, and extremely biased news. I see no point of watching it anymore! I'll rant more about that later. Well until next blog, see ya!
