Forza 3 is out.

Its reviewing well, certainly. It looks to be another great game in a series of great games. I'm quite happy with that.

I have no intentions of getting it.

When I was younger I hated beets, loved crab and loved shrimp. A few years ago I couldn't handle crab anymore. No idea why - I just didn't like it. Now? Like crab again, not much for shrimp, and can eat (even enjoy) beets.

Tastes change over time.

A few years ago I was playing Grand Turismo and loving it. I adored Metropolis Street Racer. Sega GT was a well-loved title. Now? My copy of Forza 2 is unplayed - I can't get into it. Project Gotham Racing? Ditto. Burnout Paradise? I can't figure out why I can't bring myself to play it when I played the original Need for Speed for hours on end for weeks, if not months, on the 3DO.

But Ridge Racer 6? Oh yes, I think I could get that. No, seriously. I downloaded the demo and had fun. Maybe its harkening back to my arcade roots; Outrun, Cruisin' USA, Daytona, Ridge Racer, etc. Maybe I'm less concerned with realism and just want to race. Maybe I simply don't have (or feel like I have) the time to dedicate to a real simmy racer anymore. I just want to hop on, play my few laps, and move on. I don't know.

But, regardless of my not asking, not giving permission, not working on it, my tastes have changed on me.

How have your tastes changed over the years?

I've become less of a fanboy and more of a all around whatever works gamer.

Maybe one system just isn't enough now a days

I used to really like the Civilization series. I played Civ II just ridiculous ammounts. I have Civ IV and I just can't complete it. I liked Civ Rev though. There was something about being able to finish quickly and not having to manage every little detail...

Indeed, I think it is only natural as you get older, but the crab example of going back and forth? that never happens, maybe I have very short phases/urges but that is just it. I used to love my racing games and NBA games, now they dont really interest me anymore.
I have yet to grow out of RPGs though.
As for my tastes in music..that went from leaps and bounds.

You should try NFS Shift....it's a great mix of sim/arcade racer. My gaming tastes have certainly changed over the years. I play a much wider variety of games than before but certain aspects have stayed constant: I prefer fantasy RPGs, love sports and racing games. One of my favorite genres of the last few years has been the open world, sandbox type games (GTA, Saints Row, Just Cause, Prototype, etc...).

I used to LOVE long and drawn out RPG's that needed 40+ hours of gameplay to complete. Nowadays... I just can't get into any of them, and I've tried a few, I need something a little less involved thats more pick up and play.

Man its like reading about myself. I used to love racing games a lot, heck I played Grand Prix 4, Toca Race Driver (and older versions), Formula One, and Project Gotham Racing 3 was my main game when I got my Xbox 360. However I tend to play racers less and less, including PGR, Forza Motorsport 2. I do feel the same way, that how I like some things and not others has changed but that is life, some things I have liked for some time and others I go in and out of (like The Simpsons tv show). So basically if I have too much of one thing I will get fed up of it. I am starting to feel that way about being on forums as I cant be bothered with all the silly arguments etc.
