Its really hard to believe that the director of the tragedy that was Ultraviolet once before did a movie as good as Equilibrium. Theres a critic review on the case which actually tells the reader to forget about The Matrix because this movie is better, I have to say I disagree. Both do take place in the future, both feature amazing special effects and fight scenes, but The Matrix is a lot better then this is. Kurt Wimmer does a great job in creating an interesting story of the future, something in which I have never seen, heard or read about before. The action scenes are simply stunning and the directing is dead on perfect. Problem is the movie gets boring. Thats about it. Its interesting to have the idea that in the future there will be no emotions, now that I have seen and understood the movie, I ask myself a question. Would mankind be better off without emotion? Would we be a better society without drama or love? I think we can keep love but please take away drama because now a days, drama is ridiculous. The movie shows that there is always a person who is willing to break the rules, and to test the realms were not aloud to see anymore. With the character of John Preston, he realizes that these laws they must obey are actually very wrong. When you dont take the injection, you see and feel the things people who take the injection dont. So he soon feels bad for the things he does, but by the end, when he knows he is caught, but he then turns around and changes the plot around. The action scenes are definately the highlight of the whole movie. Since The Matrix comes before this film, Kurt Wimmer definately looked at The Matrix and created all of his action scenes around that. The opening acton scene is the weakest of the movie, but my belief is that this was for a reason. The director wanted you to kind of see this scene, then blow you away in the future, later in the movie. The rest of the action scenes really go ballistic with flips and slow motion and everything. The only negative thing about the movie I can really think of is the fact that it gets boring in the middle. Thats it.

After the first movie of the Friday The 13th franchise, the whole series just starting going downhill from there. The second movie was ok, it just kind of felt like the same movie we watched the first time around. Part 3 begins at the end of 2, where a girl is running from Jason in the woods, coming across Jasons little house like thing. After encountering Jason mom's head in the house, we are introduced to probably the creepiest scene in the movie. I dont want to give it away, but it definately creeped me out. Part 3 is actually the first movie where Jason wields the hockey mask for the first time also. In the 1980's, the slasher series took a large leap to fame, bringing us hundreds of lame gore films which were just the same movie over and over again. Friday The 13th is said to be the starter to the slasher franchise. Part 3 follows the same formula as both the films before, Jason walks around still alive killing teens for no reason. So it would have been nice if we got a new story here once in a while, but no, the franchise continues to grow worse and worse with every worthless sequel.

The film is directed by Steve Miner, the same man who did the second movie. While the directing is pretty good for the time, I must bust on the horribly done make up effects of the movie. Tom Savini left after the first film. For example, there is a scene where Jason crushes a mans head, but it edits from showing Jason crush it, and after the fact where the eye ball blows out of the mans head. The head totally looked fake from the start of the kill.

Might I add that the movie still continues the dumb girl formula. Since the girl is the last woman standing, we kind of get dumped into the world of stupidness. Lost keys, no gas, broken bridge, hiding in places where we can see you or the original fall scene. All these lead up to the completely useless ending to the film. Where we get yet, another ending where a sequel is seen to be arriving within the next year or so. Part 3 is in 3-D, but dont get me wrong, the movie is completely dumb and a waste of time for true horror fans. Skip it if you can, or make the mistake of buying the series and having to keep this addition.

Ok, I have watched the first 3 Friday The 13th films in a row. After the huge dissapointment which was Part III, I kind of gave up hope on finding a good film in the series besides the first one. Part 4 is a little bit better then 3, but not as good as 2. With a new director, new writer, more gore, better effects, and some decent directing, the film actually does well. But, the movie is stupid, repetitive and brings nothing new to the series. While we get a batch of new characters, mostly teenagers and more sex, the movie just got boring, which it was. The movie begins with the end of III, where the police and emergency crews find the massacre which was the 3rd movie and also find the killer, Jason Voorhees. When Jason is dropped off at the morgue, it begins to get a little bit better. With great opening death scenes, I felt like I could easily get into the movie. But then as we are introduced to lamer and more boring characters, I myself began to get bored. Then after about 20 minutes of nothing, some more gore arises and the last 30 minutes of the film are the fastest, which is not really fast. The thing absoulutely loved about this movie was to see the gory and great death of actor Crispin Glover, because to me, hes a freak. A rat lover in Willer, to a hair smelling maniac in Charlies Angels and finishing off by playing the voice of a Grendel in the recent adaptation of Beowulf. It was nice to see him get wacked in one of his first films. I have to give it up to new director Joseph Zite for pumping up the level of violence in the movie. We get plenty of actually pretty good gore scenes, most being impalements and what not, I thought they actually looked pretty good. I guess its because of the increase and advancements in technology.

The movie isnt either surprising nor scary, because every scare or useless plot twist was scene coming when the movie began. It tries to add some little stories to have your mind jumping back and forth between whos the killer and what not, but fails miserably.

Part 4 is not the best nor worse of the series, but its boring and repetitive. Worth a sort of look, if your drunk.

The simple plot of the 1979 cult classic film The Warriors certainly points you in the wrong direction about the movie. When a man named Cyrus tries to join together over 100 different gangs in New York, he is shot and killed during his speech. Being blamed for this killing, Th Warriors fight to get home, as they are constantly distracted by attacks of local gangs, women and others. This plot is yet again, simple. So we watch a whole movie about 8 people getting home to Coney Island. Seems like a waste of time. This movie is awesome. This review is based off of the Directors Cut version of the film, not the original version, so some little things may be off to those who seen the original. Since this movie is a classic, effects and action wise, dont expect huge explosions and tons of gore, expect little campy fight scenes which are horribly good. The movie is brutal, rough and certainly fun to watch. Director Walter Hill does a good job with these action moments, now since were looking at the time period of the 1970's, gore and big effects were just being used to make the movies better. This movie would be horrible if it had been drenched in effects and gore. Its simple yet fun to watch. There are certain moments of the films, or shots, which are just amazing. The director uses nice, soft and subtle shots to calm you down, until the next fight scene. The cinematography of the movie is beautiful with some really unforgettable moments. Just the opening 5 minutes are amazing to watch. I cant really say anything to harsh about the movie, it does slow down and gets a little campy, but I still enjoyed it.

Requiem For A Dream covers many forms of dangerous addictions. From Harry, Mariones and Tyrons heroin addictions, to Harry's mom addiction in eating which then turns to the addiction of weight loss pills, or speed. This movie is actually being shown in high schools around the world, even though some of the graphic nature may be inappropriate for many, the movie turns out to show the graphic realism of addiction. As the movie starts out cool and funny, we then journey into a dark and sick world, which is actually happening right outside our front doors. Show in an indie film way, Requeim For A Dream is certainly the most intense and emotionally gripping movie I have seen in a long time. The performances which were put out by our 4 main characters are stunning. Jared Leto plays as a heroin addict. As Jared Leto is known for his druggie roles, as he played a druggie in Lord of War and many others, his performance in here is heartbraking. His character is troubled and the most complex of the movie, and by the end I couldnt help but feel horribly bad for him. Being played as Harry's mom, Ellen Burstyn's performance is terrifying. Her addiction to the weight loss pills is literally scary, as the change the person taking the pills. She becomes insane and what not and her performance is horribly amazing. Jennifer Connely plays as Marion, and in the beginning we think of her as the goody good girl in the movie, but by the end we find out how much of an addict she really is. As she is constantly selling herself for money to buy more drugs. The directing of the movie is one of the big standpoints. Instead of Darron Aronofsky just telling us how the characters felt, he expresses it by his camera work. If a character is feeling slow, the shot is played in an awkward slow motion, giving you the feeling that you are that character. If a character feels fast or rushed, the movie is sped up, giving us more of an experience with the characters. There are moments where the screen just goes insane. There is a shot towards the end where Harry and Tyrone are in prison, Harry is yelling because of the pain in his arm and Tyrone is yelling for help but the camera shakes in an extreme movement, giving you the feeling that they have no control anymore. The movie also does a great job with showing us how drugs can change a person, as many of the characters are completely new by the end of the film. Requiem For A Dream is disturbing, real, emotional and gripping. A Must See!

A lot of horror fans have found a respect for writer/director Neil Marshall, as he has brought us two great horror films, Dog Soldiers and The Descent. So when we all hear news that Neil Marhsall is doing yet another horror movie, we got really excited. Doomsday tells about a killer virus called "The Reaper", in which swept over Scotland sometime in the future. The army built up a giant wall around Scotland to keep people out and in, but the virus ended up spreading some 30 years later, and a supposed cure is held up inside the wall. A task force is sent in to retrieve it, but they found something worse then they bargained for. Doomsday is sort of a bunch of movies combined, for example Mad Max and 28 Weeks Later. It takes place in sort of a post apocalyptic future, so director Neil Marshall had come up with a gang sort of, reminding me of the punk scene of the 70's and 80's with their tattoos, piercings and leather attire. This is one thing the movie did a good job with, was the basic make up and clothing design. Most of the characters have crazy hair designs like mohawks, spikes and such. Their clothing and piercing also range in strangeness, as theyre noses, cheeks, ears, nipple, belly buttons and more are pierced in strange fashions. Marshall always does a grea job with all of the gore effects in his movies. Doomsday is certainly bloody, as this future is rough. At the beginning of the movie, we get some pretty gory gunshots which cause many splatters around the environment. Also in the beginning, we get a great moment where a man gets his head blown in half with a shotgun and it is really cool just to watch that gag on screen. After that, we get more stabbings and cuts, mostly with some blood sprays. The end chase though is absoulutely covered in blood, as we get men being run over and rammed by vehicles, leaving a bloody mess behind. Now, lets get to some of the negative things about the movie. First off, I cant really say that this movie is original in any way, cause basically it seems that Neil Marshall just threw together a bunch of elements from other movies to creat Doomsday. The plot is also very confusing and bland, because theyre are so many plot holes its hard to follow the film. The script and basic directing also lack here, as the script is to simple for me and the directing is too edited for me to fully enjoy it. Doomsday is simply stupid fun, full of gore and action, the movie was enjoyable. Though I think it it underrated, it still is not as good as proposed.

I honestly had no idea that I would enjoy P2 as much as I really did. I was starting to get sick of these horror movies being released which are just the same old trash over and over again. Alexandre Aja has kind of grown when it comes to the horror genre of things. His first major studio film, High Tension, is truly a spectacular movie. It really pushed the limits of horror movies and had a plot in which is nothing original, but he certainly had elements of the movie which made it a lot better. Coming to France to the US he moved on to do the remake for The Hills Have Eyes, which is in my favorites for best horror movie. But instead of directing this time, hes producing. Franck Khalfoun takes over the directing spot this time and does an amazing job. The cinematography of the movie is amazing. Instead of getting constant gore covered death scenes, we get more calm and subtle scenes in the beginning of the movie. So when something finally does happen, its short and sweet. This introduces us to one of the greatest scenes in the movie. Where Tom sits Angela down in his office for dinner, but shes chained to the chair. He sits there and interrogates her about her family and love life. After this 10 minute long sequence, the real movie begins. After this, we get a little gore, some chasing and scares, a little more gore, some chasing then scares and a little more gore...ending. Make no mistake, this is an Aja film. Alexandre Aja is known for making some really brutal and twisted movies, as both High Tension and Hills Have Eyes were high on the gore meter. While P2 approaches it more slowly then the others did, the gore looks great and it is set up so perfectly. While there are only 2 main gore scenes, both were done fantastically. I am pretty sure the make up was done by KnB because they have become very large in the film buisness lately. There were a few things which annoyed me about the movie though. Since this is a modern day horror movie, there were things which happened which were just little stupid moves by the characters. For example, getting blood on the door in the room you are trying to hide in, nope. Plus the movie is very slow in some parts so make sure your awake for the majority of the movie. So in the end, P2 is an example of a pretty good horror movie. While some things got me alittle angry and what not, it was engaging and a little bit creepy. Recommended.

I have seen a lot of horror movies in my life, some, like The Excorcist, have scared me to death. But others like Dead Silence have bored me to death. Teeth is a fine example of a movie which seems to be stupid and appears to be a joke, then becomes scary as hell. Yes, I must admit that as a male, this movie scared the crap out of me on some certain scenes. The plot is definately new and the film sets up the ending almost perfectly, while I honestly though this film was going to be dumb, I guess I proved myself wrong. Teeth, the whole movie can be summed up by saying that this girl had a man eating vagina That's how I explain this movie to others when they ask what it is about. while I am not 100% correct with that description, I am not really wrong either. While this movie can be scary and disgusting, it shows the story of Dawn. And as she discovers how these teeth work, she begins to get c*cky with it. She then begins to use it to her advantage.

Males beware! There are about 3 scenes where a mans area is actually bitten off. Each of these scenes are shown in graphic detail and sometimes humorous. With surprising amounts of blood and detail, these are certainly scenes in which made me cringe. Other then just being a blood fest though, the movie takes on a lot of character study into Dawn. As we see 2 sides of her, the nice and clean side in the beginning. And the dirty and more messed up version by the end. There is a moment in the movie which everybody talks about, because it is a great moment. Unforgettable. Dawn goes to a doctor to get checked out, so after a series of questions he finally digs in and discovers the truth. As his hand gets stuck inside of Dawn, he pulls out and is missing either 3 of 4 fingers, I forget. This moments is extremely horrifying. I honestly dont know why but its that one scene in this movie which just brings it all to a new level.

Teeth is certainly one of my top 50 horror films I have ever seen. Gruesome, funny and gross. Take a bite out of this one!! Haha, get it!

Set in the early 20th century, the film follows the rise to power of Daniel Plainview -- a charismatic and ruthless oil prospector, driven to succeed by his intense hatred of others and psychological need to see any and all competitors fail. When he learns of oil-rich land in California that can be bought cheaply, he moves his operation there and begins manipulating and exploiting the local landowners into selling him their property. Using his young adopted son H.W. to project the image of a caring family man, Plainview gains the cooperation of almost all the locals with lofty promises to build schools and cultivate the land to make their community flourish. Over time, Plainview's gradual accumulation of wealth and power causes his true self to surface, and he begins to slowly alienate himself from everyone in his life.

In most of my reviews, I usually dont talk about how the performances by the actors or actresses are, because I feel that a movie is based upon plot and both the directors and screenwriters way of creating a story. I must say though that Daniel Day Lewis puts on an absoulutely spectacular performance as Daniel Plainview. We see two faces of this man through the 2 and a half hour film. First seeing the kinder and softer Daniel as he makes his way up through the world through all of his drilling, but once Paul shows him these areas where oil is huge, he changes. As greed and wealth take him over he becomes care less and mean, quickly. Daniel handles it with perfect precision as each moment we see him on screen is just fantastic to watch.

It makes me happy as a movie lover to see that there is a director like Paul Anderson who is willing to make a film about the big beginning of the oil production. Instead of creating a post 9/11 struggle movie about the fast moving prices of oil, he takes the time to create a movie in which shows major character and the start of America's largest needed supply. In the 21st century our whole economy is basically run by oil, we need gas for our cars and oil for our electricity. With the whole war going on and everything America is struggling to get these needs as much as we need them. So I thank Paul Anderson for showing me, a history buff, a story behind the scenes of the oil market in which today is a big thing. One thing I must point out which is very good in this movie was the score. The first 10 or so minutes of the movie are all quiet except for character and environment sounds. When there is a moment when score is used though, it gets to be very creepy, but sometimes used in great spots of the movie. Paul Anderson does a magnificent job behind the camera with a lot of very smooth and calm camera angles and shots. The visual style along with his directorial style set the movie perfectly. There Will Be Blood is fantastic in almost every way. At about 2 hours and 38 minutes, it is very long and in moments can be drawn out, but Daniel's performance and Paul Anderson's way to tell a story make the whole movie a must see.
