So I did the unthinkable over the weekend...I forgot my mother's birthday on Sunday. This is going to probably hang over my head for a while. I feel like such a mook and I really have no excuse for not even calling. I did absolutely nothing this weekend. And this is a week after having to ask my parents for some money to help me pay for my bills this month. The worst part is, she called me this morning to ask me why I didn't call home yesterday, and my response was "Why did I need to call?" My foot was in my mouth before I knew what was going on...I couldn't even make up an excuse to buy me more time at that point. She sounded so disappointed and I really feel like ****. So now I don't know how I'll get out of the crapper but I really need to do something to make up for it.

On second thought...You should plan a surprise trip to visit them

Does she live far away? You can send her a gift card for two to her favorite restaurant.

@spazz and @Travo: I would travel to go see her in person but from north to south Florida is easily a 7 hour trip and she would probably kill me for wasting gas. My dad told me to write her a thoughtful note and just let things work themselves out
I still feel like crap for forgetting

Dude, trust me. It will be OK despite the terrible feeling you'll have, I can hardly remember my own birthday and my mom understands that.

Oh.
There isn't much you can do, try the ideas posted here already or just send her a very thoughtful gift you know she would like. Hopefully time will pass and her feelings towards it will change, you two will be right as reign in no time. Don't worry about it too much, it happens to the best of us sometimes.

Ouch. Maybe call her on the phone and apologize for being so forgetful? I am sure she will forgive you, you are her son after all

I called her last night and apologized and she seemed ok. I will be sending her a card today with a birthday dollar.
