So, I've been listening to some death and black metal lately (partly based on recommendations by Darth) and have been developing a liking for death metal and an, if not dislike, apathy towards black metal. I think some of it's alright (Emperor, Dimmu Borgir), but, listening to several of the other bands recommended by Darth and other metalheads, I'm just not really into it, and definitely not enough to buy albums by them. Well, I guess black metal isn't for everyone...
On the other front, though, I have been enjoying more death metal over the past couple of days. I've developed a greater fondness for Death's The Sound of Perseverance (it wasn't a forcing myself thing, I just started liking it... *shrugs*), Morbid Angel's Altars of Madness, Dark Tranquillity's Haven, as well as for some other stuff (of course, Be'lakor as well, but I think I've already advertised that fact
). I also finally got around to listening to some of Amon Amarth's album Fates of Norns, an album which I'm really enjoying. So, I've added it to my to-buy list (along with the Amon Amarth albums With Oden on our Side and Versus the World, among a lot of other stuff).
On a non-death/black metal related note, I've been listening to Elvenking and liked their albums The Scythe and Heathenreel, so I'll probably pick up at least one of those in time.
And, of course, I still have dozens of albums yet to pick up, so yeah... fun times. ![]()

Or were you just messing with me and don't really like death metal?
I'll just add, for the record... lol @ Blink-182
check out Dissection for black metal if you haven't already
Other than that, I'd recommend Legion of the Damned, Napalm Death and Kataklysm.
And Elvenking are fantastic.
Just kidding, at least you are enjoying it. Just not my cup of tea
I can understand the dislike for BM, took me forever to really start enjoying it
Elvenking kick ass
