Well, it's been a busy couple of weeks. I thought I'd better write, lest anyone think I was killed on the holiday ski trip. We all survived unscathed, btw, though my husband was pretty sore for a few days. The ol' wallet felt some pain, too--skiing sure is more expensive than I remembered.
I celebrated my 41st birthday yesterday. My son cheerfully informed me that if I live until I'm 82, that means I'm "halfway to dead". I thanked him and let him know that often, I do feel half dead, so his comment wasn't that far off the mark.
One of my sisters sent me an interesting card. There are seven of us kids, all with birthdays between December 20 and January 27th, so in addition to Christmas cards there's always a flurry of birthday cards in the mix. Making those cards stand out as something special is a challenge, but this sister (who's 40 tomorrow) outdid us all this year: she wrote all her birhday greetings to the rest of us in "Ubby Dubby" talk. Does anyone out there remember Ubby Dubby? If you watched Zoom more than a few times, you do. The invented "language" involved adding a "b" to the end of every pronounced syllable. The kids on the show and a couple of my sibblings could speak it faster than I could speak English, which frustrated me to no end. I finally gave up on trying to learn. This same sister went on to become a musician and songwriter, even doing some children's work, writing songs for hit programs like Veggie Tales. I guess all that time spent learning to act silly paid off for her.
The Golden Globes, such as they were, apparently aired last night, and boy, am I sorry I missed it. Evidently, the "hosts" fumbled about like idiots, making inane comments while trying to look like they knew what they were doing without scripts. The internet reviews are scathing. Of course, what can you expect when you let the people who host "The Insider" and "Entertainment Tonight" run the show? Can't wait to catch some highlights on the 'net.

I actually heard that they did a quick survey and most women hated the GG's, with no red carpet etc., but most men loved the quick, to-the-point, bare bones presentation.
