I'm 18 years old. Going to a community College and play video games in my spare time(which i seem to have a lot of). I have usually been a big PC gamer, SPent about 5-6years playing EverQuest, and the past 2years playing World of Warcraft.
When i turned 16 i finally got a job. I still work there now to lol (Panera Bread) with this new job i got more money! Woot no more asking mom or dad for money. I debated buying a ps2 or even an xbox (my brother had a gamecube that i played once in a while) But with my time being devoted to Unreal Tournament 2004 and World of Warcraft and Call of Duty 2, i decided i would wait for the next-gen systems to come out.
So before I knew it xbox 360 came out. I thought long and hard about getting it(i decided i would only get one system, 360 or ps3) I basiclly looked at whow well their predicessors did(xbox and ps2). Most of my friends from high school and those i work with who play video games always say "HALOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO THREEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEE!" Like some stupid microsoft/bungie robot. Halo 2 was a fun game, and the multiplier was intense but im more of a PC FPS because of the mouse and keyboard controls own dual anilog sticks in the faise. And then i looked at the ps2 games, we have devil may cry, superior DDR games and exclusive guitar hero. GTA3 Vice City(by far the best so far!) Final Fantasy Tales of _________ by namco. I liked the ps2 lineup far better than what xbox had to show. so i decided not to get a Xbox 360.
So i continued my PC gaming with WoW some more and UT2004 and CoD2, saved up money bought a car ect ect.
Finally the ps3/wii launch! I did not buy either lol, i needed the money for christmas. And decided iwould get one after that. So around March of this year (07) i saved up all my bestbuy giftcards i got from xmas and my day(its in november) along with a few paychecks from work and went out got one at bestbuy. I got the cheap one$499 (20GB) system and put a 80GB hardrive that i had from a previous computer into the ps3, formatted it, and what not and it works fine. I dont own any ps3 games i just basicly rent them from gamefly play them for a month send it back get a new one. since the games are now 60bucks a pop and only like 54.99 at gamestop for a used one, im very picky about what game i want to own and thus far nothing has really caught my eye except the rainbow six, which i just got from gamefly this week.
All in all, getting a ps3 imo was a better choice over the 360. The 360 has the whole red ring of death goin around, it overheats, and you need to buy an additional fan for it, and its noisy in comparison. The ps3 is really big and heavier in comparison but its very quiet, only froze on me a few times playing some PS2 games(which shows a tad flaw in backwards compatibility).
Looking at how wel the ps2 did, i believe the ps3 will be even greater within the next few years, with the firmware updates giving us the Playstation Home Network, sony tech saying it can boost the power of the PS3 through firmware updates, nice sleek and light controllers, easy blue-tooth headsets and ofcourse Blu-Ray player which seems to be making a big hit in the Market over standard DVDs.
So for all of you halo 3 freaks who only bought a 360 for that game, i pity you. Having one great game is one thing but having a handful of great games is another.
PS: I also own a Wii which is friggin tight as hell and i was very suprised with how well Nintendo did with this new system, i mean lets face it....the Gamecube was horrible, i got it for Zelda and Super Smash bros and super mario.....i know the Wii will continue to top the charts with new innovative stuff to do with gaming, and im glad the ones who started the big rush with video games(NES!) is finally back in the game and kicking some butt.
