I've been watching marathons of the Angry Video Game Nerd and it is awesome. James Rolfe (the AVGN) is hilarious! If you haven't seen his vids, watch them at http://www.gametrailers.com/screwattack.php. While watching one of his videos, he used a Game Genie for the NES and I was like, "I have one of those!" When I was very young and playing the NES, all I knew was you insert the game, push power, and play. I didn't even know what I was doing, really, unless it was really simple. Like in Super Mario Bros., I gradually learned goombas=bad and mushrooms=good.
Anyway, I remember seeing a Game Genie when I was younger and I had NO idea what it was. I decided today to go looking for it and found it, along with some game manuals
. One of the manuals I found was the manual for Zelda 2 and it was really cool to read the actual legend of Zelda from the original manual. So I broke out the NES and used a Game Genie for the first time on any console. Took me awhile to actually get it in far enough to where it would actually work. Then I couldn't get it out for awhile
.
After having a little fun with that, I played Zelda 2. Now that I know what it is, I had a lot more fun and actually knew what to do! I'm really into it now and I still can't get passed the first dungeon. I always die so quickly but I'm getting a hang of the side-scrolling control scheme. So tomorrow, I'm going to have a lot of fun with it
.
I also found out today one of my controllers doesn't work
. What sucks is that its the only original NES controller I have. The one I was playing with was a turbo controller and I didn't like how the D-pad felt so I went to plug in the other controller and it wouldn't respond
. I also have 2 wireless controllers but I have no idea how to work them or know if the batteries are dead. Don't see anywhere to put batteries into so I dunno... I didn't look that hard, just a glance, but I think it would have been noticeable.
Well that was a long post
. Done now
