I can't say that he was ever really one of my favorite people, but this is quite the news nonetheless.

After numerous close encounters with many dangerous animals. After being the butt of many jokes. After the media publicity he received for feeding a crocodile with his one month old baby in his arms. Believe it or not, it wasn't a crocodile that did the poor man in. It was a stingray.

It may not be a shock to most of you since the guy has cheated death quite a few times, but 44 is too young to die.

His image should be carved into the side of a mountain.

Yeah, that was a rather sudden surprise

I was a little shocked when I heard the news on TV. But he lived life to the fullest and will be missed. RIP Steve Erwin.

Yeah, that is crazy man!!! He lost a lot of his fans and his tv show after that baby incident, but you could always tell he was a great guy.

I found out about this last night. Very sad. I remember I would watch him on Animal Planet all the time. He was very entertaining. I feel bad for his children and wife.

I heard the news on Yahoo. Before he died he said that this was the way he wanted to die. Not by a stingray of course but of animals that made him happy. I am going to see The Larry King Live Special of remebering Steve. They said that its going to show the extruciating detail of Steve Irwin dying.

yea that was just too bad. Whether or not you liked him its still tragic.

Yeah, he was a cool guy. He actually taught me a lot about animals when I was growing up... stupid animals and their ways of killing people....

Yea I got a call while I was at work this morning at the Herald and they told me about it. I was surprised a bit that it was from a Stingray and he was way too young to die. Its a shame.

I just found out this Monday mroning man thats ashame I will misss the guy and im sure everyone else will too.

He seemed like a really neat guy, always brought smiles to people's faces. It's a shame to see him go. If only that sting ray hadn't gotten him in the heart, he'd probably be alive right now, too.

wow, I always kind of assumed that show was somehow fake, like he wasn't actually risking his life and he really didn't know anything about animals and didn't care about them, but after hearing this I gained alot of respect for him, not that its any good now, RIP crocodile hunter

Why do the good Die young?
Posted Sep 4, 2006 9:25 pm PT
He was a great guy...It's a shame this happened...But I bet he was happy that he died doing what he loved. He seemed like the type of guy that would rather die young working around animals than living to be 90 and not be able to be around the animals...It's still a sad event...

I agree that 44 is way too young to die. My mother is 44 and I'd be screwed up if she died on me. I still need my family regardless of how old I'll get.

If you'll excuse me, I'm going to have a little talk with Grim...
