just quit my job today

So I've been working at the same crappy job for a few months now. I worked at a sandwich shop that will remain unnamed, but I will say that it was franchised and by far the crappiest restaurant around. We didn't clean our sauce bottles, we shortchanged people on products (gave them less meat than we are supposed to under manager orders), and did many, many other unethical things (like the managers made us once scrub the floors with ammonia).

So for the past few months I've been dealing with one boss that was an ass and another that was a hypocritical cheapskate. Now our story begins yesterday, when I was doing my shift. One customer wanted lettuce on his sandwich and claims that I forgot to add it. My co worker had to remake the sandwich after I left work and my boss reviewed the video cameras to see who was responsible (this is a good time to note that my bosses monitored the cameras with a paranoid and compulsive fashion. Chances were that while at home they were watching us through damn cameras).

Well my manager deduced that I was the one that had made the sandwich, and told my co-worker that I was going to be charged for the sandwich. He called me and told me so and I decided to a little investigating. According to state laws, that was very illegal, so the next day I called her and told her so and I made it clear that it was the law and she couldn't charge me for 'damages and losses". Heck I couldn't have my check deducted if I threw a brick through their window ( I would never do so, but that fact was provided in the labor laws).

So I was scheduled to work today at around 4 in the afternoon. I had switched shifts with my co-worker so that he could work in the morning. When I got to work I had discovered by word of another co-worker that my friend had been fired (she didn't say why, but they have been looking to lay off or fire some workers for a while). Since we don't electronically record our shifts, but instead write them on a clipboard (something else I believe is against state law, as workers are supposed to be paid for every second they worked), I had the chance to peek next weeks schedule.

Turns out my name had been erased from both next week and the week after. I decided to call my boss and she gave me some bull**** response about it being slow and they were suffering. When I asked if it had to do with the sandwich she said no, that she had planned to do so a day earlier, and that I should ask my co-workers if I didn't believe her. Instead I called a reliable asset and asked for advice. My asset told me to just quit since they were d***ing me around. So I did. I told her she better get there because I was quitting.

She got there ten minutes later after I had had a conversation with a customer about the fun of crappy jobs (he sympathized with me). I showed my boss how much I owed her in the food I had eaten there (we recorded all of what we took and they took it from our checks, another illegal thing I'm sure)

Before leaving I tried mentioning that if she wanted to save her failing business then she should stop shortchanging her customers. She got p***ed and went off on my, telling me I was a terrible employee and that I knew nothing about business and that she stood up for me against another of my bosses (her husband, a boss that constantly berated me and disrespected me). I told her that she had been a decent boss and her husband had been a terrible one, that I would be back next week for my final paycheck and goodbye. I didn't feel the need to say or do anything in spite since she was already killing her business.

That same customer told me he heard her yelling, and told me to just '**** her'. Now I could get even in a number of ways, ranging from making phone calls to corporate, the health dept. and the labor board, staging a walkout with my old workers and even filling a suit for her 'creating a hostile work environment' (I did technically whistle blow, so it would be completely legit), or I could take the high road. Frankly I want to tell her husband how much of an ass he is and how much of a cheap skating ***** she had been, but my conscience is very strong.

Thanks for reading, I would appreciate any insight anyone can give me.
