Entropy- A measure of the disorder of any system
-American Heritage New Dictionary of Cultural Literacy, Third Edition
Things are spiraling out of control. Read on to plunge into the unfortunate, the misdirected, and the uncorrected: my life.
Warning: The blog you are about to read is overdramatic. Why? I felt like being overdramatic. The second half is less over-dramatic. It's the more cheerful half.
I know it's a long blog. To read the abridged verson, only read the writing that appears in this color. I of course appreciate it when people take the time to read what has been written, but if you don't have the time...
-----------------------------------------------
[size=15]Rejection

Reject- v. To refuse to accept, submit to, believe, or make use of
n. The person or thing that is rejected or set aside as inferior in quality
"Inferior in quality". I didn't think those words described me, until yesterday.

See this nifty little emblem above? It means I've submitted at least 100 things. That should be a good thing. But for me, it wasn't. You see, I just barely made it to 100 submissions before I had something happen to me that has never happened to me before: I recieved a PM entitled "User Submission Was Not Accepted". (*clicky
*)
And the weirdest thing? I got three. One of them, I admit, was an embarrassing mistake on my part (I honestly could've sworn the actor had an S in his last name
), but the other two are submissions of which I've made the type of before and never been rejected. One of them was adding links into a blurb to the TV.com pages for the shows mentioned in the blurb. I believe this helps people browsing the site to easily find all things connected to the show or person they're looking up. Apparently there's at least one member of the site's staff who disagrees. I've gotten submissions of this sort approved before, just trying to make the site more navigable, but all of a sudden I hit a brick wall. I'll make extra sure to never again edit something to put in helpful links unless I'm editor for said thing already. Another one was denied because it was a one-sentence blurb, without a period at the end.
Blurb- A brief advertisement or announcement
Being but so brief as a one-sentence blurb is, and already seperated from other blurbs, I always feel it looks odd when one ends in a tiny little period before the "(edit)" (Though I always include proper periods in blurbs of two or more snetences). Not elsewhere, mind you, but it's something about this site's font. The way I'm seeing what I'm typing typed now, for instance, I could add periods wherever, but the font you'll all see as you read this once it's posted... Well, anyways, I was going for editorship of the guide I was submitting information for that had no editor already, and as I planned to be editor anyway and it appeared I had no competition, I figured I'd just enter it as I'd wish it to appear on a guide of mine, and save me a future edit for a mere period. I've never gotten a submission such as this rejected before, but now...
It's like all of a sudden the staff believes me an idiot, for one of two theories, the second of which I choose to believe, despite my disbelief in most conspiracy theories. *Imagine for a little while that I'm wearing a funny 1800s detective outfit, and we're all in a mansion as rain pours and a storm rages outside.*
1) A member of the staff is a real stickler for grammar, or
2) A member of the staff is out to get me. The same one that unfairly suspended Holly (BuffyAnneLove) and myself more than a year ago. *Pause for dramaticly rising music and lightning, followed almost immediately by thunder- BIG thunder*
A year and a couple months ago, during the RST massacre (when RSTs started popping up everwhere, before one off-topic thread was actually alowwed at the editor's discretion), RSTs were being hunted down and deleted, much to the disapointment of their frequenters. I mean, all of us at the Buffy and Angel forums know how vital our not-quite show-related threads can be for socializing with each other. Holly, myself, and a few other posters from the Buffy forum had RSTs located on some otherwise unused forums for shows Holly was editor for, in order to have a placve to socailize without newbies waltzing in (or fox trotting in) and acting like they owned the place. Those RSTs were of course deleted with the rest, however, unlike with the rest, Holly and I were suspended for a week, and for a rule that I'm fairly certain didn't exist- something about "creating a secret home base forum".
And it may have been slightly disruptive posting, not being about the show, but it was actually less distracting then, say, the Charmed RST, as that wasn't created with direct permission from the editor, however, the maker of that RST and countless others weren't suspended. Holly and I were suspended specifically for having an RST where not everyone from the forum we frequent most often would find it- I didn't see that in the TOS. I believe, if I remmeber correctly, this certain person and Holly once quarrled, and me being close with Holly... We were specifically targeted, and having never had a submission turned down for something such as this before, I believe I'm being targeted again, by someone who doesn't like me, knows how proud I was of having had no denied submissions, and wants to chase me away from the site. Well, I'm a reject. "Inferior in quality". Boo-hoo, whatever- I'm not leaving this site for anything, and I know who you are! *more dramatic lightning/thunder*
Well, one thing's for sure, I'm not leaving off another freaking perod again. Sorry if I offended any grammar freaks with my misdirected ways.
Freak- A devoted fan or follower; enthusiast: a grammar freak
Period- The point or character (.) used to mark the end of a declarative sentence, indicate an abbreviation, etc.; full stop.
-----------------------------------------------
How Can I be Both Going Downhill Fast and at a Dead Stop?
Downhill- Into a worse or inferior condition
Stop- To prevent from proceeding, acting, operating, continuing, etc.
I guess I'm just depressed. But hey, who isn't? I guess I just feel the need to complain every once in a while about the crappy feeling so much of us experience at one point or another. I feel so much like nothing at all is happening, at all, in my life. Nothing is progressing. Heck, there's not much to progress in the first place. And yet, at the same time, I feel like things are somehow getting worse. I'm more stressed every day, and then I get more stress from being mad at myself for being stressed when I don't have much in my life to stress over in the first place compared to some people. *sigh*
-----------------------------------------------
And Here Comes the Part of this Blog Where I Stop Whining, AKA (plug for someone else's video in 3, 2, 1... ) Always Look on the Bright Side of Life
Balance- To be equal or proportionate to
And just when you thought the majority of this blog was gonna be nothing but annoying ranting from me. I like balance. For instance, I'll take this moment to say how much I hate not having Photoshop anymore or being able to succesfully download a free trial. But then right after, now, I'll take this moment to mention that I'm happy to have made enough good banners previously to rotate them through and have decent ones. See, like this Willow banner (okay, so that will only make sense till I change my banner, but oh well. Oh, or I could go back and enter a link. Funny thing is, I thought of that just now, but as you read you saw a link there all along. How cool is that?
).
-----------------------------------------------
The One That Didn't Get Away
Well, I may have trouble getting the editorships I'm working towards now, but there's one that I did get since the last time I wrote a blog- none other than Jonathan M. Woodward!

.
Now, in case you're out there going "Ta-wuh-bu-who?", let me explain. He was in all three of Joss Whedon's shows- Buffy, Angel, and Firefly! You may be asking, who was he?
Well, in case there's still any confusion, let me make it simple
On Buffy...

He played Holden Webster in "Conversations With Dead People". Undoubtedly one of the most brilliant episodes of season seven, and for some the entire show, Woodward really brought a lot to it with his amazing performance as a vampire with more to him than bloodlust. For me, he and Azura Sky really helped make that episode what it is (in addition, of course, to the amazing writing).
On Angel...

He played Knox in "Home" and through season five. Now, Knox may not have been the most loveable character in the 'Verse, but Jonathan played him excellently. I even worked out how two identical people were two different people with two different last names in the same 'Verse- Holden and Knox were identical twins, given up for adoption, seperated at birth. Holden was sired, Knox went to work for Wolfram & Hart.
On Firefly...

He played Tracey, a man Mal and Zoe knew from the war, who they never expected to see again. Once again his character isn't the most liekable, but is wonderfuly portrayed by Jonathan M. Woodward in an episode with a touching ending, "The Message".
-----------------------------------------------
The More, the Merrier
Merry- Causing happiness; pleasant; delightful
I was sad not long ago. The only two shows I was watching on TV still, Veronica Mars and Lost, were both on hiatus till late January, early February, something like that. Then I discovered that branching out and watching more TV could be a good thing. A very good thing. Here are some new shows I discovered recently that if you haven't checked out, you really might want to.
The X-Files

Okay, so it's been on since '93 and I just saw my first episode within the past two months- I'm a flawed human being, who isn't? This show is amazing. I saw a minute or two of episodes here or there and thought it seemed kind of boring. Then I watched full episodes. If I thought it were digestively safe, I would've washed my moath out with soap for saying it seemed boring. This show is so entertaining, so well-written... just, wow! I can't think of any words to describe it, really, so again I saw "wow"! The team of Mulder and Scully is so perfect. It's the most amazingly written character dynamics, the way they work off each other so well, it feels like a great honor just to watch. And the episode that's made just like an episode of Cops? Geniusly hilarious, IMHO!
Favorite character so far: Mulder. The man is subtley hilarious and ready to believe what others won't. Sometimes it's annoying how much he believes, how strongly, when he gets out of hand with some of his bolder theories, but the beautiful and intelligent Dana Scully always balances him out.
As for my favorite episode, I find it near impossible to choose. I did particularly love "Monday"... You know, I much prefer The X-Files' stand-alone episodes to the multi-part episodes full of government conspiracies and alien abductions. What about you? If you've seen the show, feel free to let me know your opinion in your comment.
And the next new-for-me show...
Monk

Obsessive-compulsive- A personality style characterized by perfectionism, indecision, conscientiousness, concern with detail, rigidity, and inhibition
O.C.D., or Obsessive Compulsive Disorder, runs in my family, but not to the extent of this freakishly hilarious, highly observant, and extrordinary-memory-gifted detective. Monk is absolutely genius, a fresh and original show with detective work as you've never seen it before. Monk is a real laugh out loud detective show, with the main character (also called Monk) and his dozens of fears and quirks. He's endearing and crazy, and he solves crimes like no one can.
Favorite character so far: Well, no surprise, it's Monk himself! I could restate what I just said about him above, but I won't.
My favorite episode so far was, I think, the big long one (that may have been a movie?) where the mayor appears to have had an assassination attempt on him, and his bodyguard gets killed, and things go from there- 'twas brilliant
Also, there's...
Law & Order: Special Victims Unit

"There’s like six Law and Orders on the air now" -Sharon Tyler, Wonderfalls, "Crime Dog"
There may be four Law & Orders on the air, but only one has recently become a favorite of mine. SVU is a show with lots of drama, and excellent plot twists. What's not to love there? Why do I love SVU though, you may ask, and not realy the others? Well, for one, I love their theme song the most (that instrument that comes in the theme right when Munch's actor's name pops up, whatever it is, I love it), and more importantly, I love their cast of characters the most. For some reason the chatacers on the other L&Os never really grabbed me the way these ones do.
Favorite character so far: Munch. Don't ask why, because I don't know myself. Olivia's just about tied for first, though.
and finally, another detective show...
Psych

Okay, so I've only seen two episodes so far, but I have high hopes for this show. Just when you thought all creative detective show ideas were used up, a great channel called USA comes out with a show about detectives with an eye for detail and a photographic memory, posing as psychic detectives solving crimes with ESP. The interaction between the two main characters is joyfully hilarious, and the way they creatively lie their way into locations is equally funny. What can I say, I hope to see way more of this show in the future.
-----------------------------------------------
Goodbye to You
If you read through all this, thank you very much! It's nice to know that when I spend forever writing a blog, some people will actually read it
And now, I go to do homework, and leave you with Poem of the Blog #1
Homework- 1. An unpleasant activity devised to help those who don't know the material learn it, and merely annoy to death the ones who already do
2. The only form of torture not yet outlawed in modern school systems
-----------------------------------------------
Poem of the Blog #1
Age is But a Number
A small child stood before me
Untouched by greed or hate
How we two did ever meet
Must have just been fate
She looked up at me
With her glowing eyes
And she read me right
Despite my present guise
Such insight she had
Rare in a child so small
She must've been about eight
And barely four feet tall
Someone else I had known
From the day I was born
Was nothing like her at all
Though tired and worn
They thought that they knew me
And thought they were smart
But really were bitter
And lacked age at heart
It baffled me so greatly
For quite a good long while
How the wiseness of years
I found only in the child

wow, that blog is HUGE, much, much bigger than mine. Size DOES matter
where to start?
Rejected submissions: Don't worry, so you got three rejected? not a big deal. I do understand why you're upset, you're trying to make the site better and it still gets rejected? I used to put links when I mentioned the shows as well but stopped doing that when I realised that the staff didn't like that as much as you'd think.
so, nobody is out to get you
. trust me
I'm sorry you're depresed, but like you said, who isn't? I'm always trying to pretend being happy and make a couple of fake smiles now and then even though deep inside i'd like to shove a bomb down's everyone's throat but hey, who doesn't? try to make the best out of each moment Doug (oh no! JD is getting speachy!) just look at it this way, life sucks, we're all depressed little monkeys that will eventually die sooner or later and then we go to hell while our bodies rot away and get eaten by worms. does that make you feel better? no? ah well, at least I tried
I LOVED the poem and the shows you mentioned, especially the X-files. on what season are you currently at? we now can be X-files buddies
congrats with your editorship, gotta admit that I enjoyed watching him die in all three shows but at least he did a good job at making me want to watch him die.

I've written term papers shorter than that.
Thanks for the link. That was quite nice of you.
I watched the original Law and Order from the beginning. I had a teacher in college once who was a former Chicago cop. He thought it was the most realistic cop show on TV.
I liked it because it was like getting two shows in one. They also didn't spend much time on the characters' personal lives. I really liked that.

Ok, i read through that thing and i have something to say...;That was long. But interesting
Rejection: That...Is...Dumb. I doubt they're out to get you, except i do agree about how STUPID some of these acceptance rules are...And--a freakin period?! *Loads gun* I anger for you.
Depression: It's okay to be depressed. Sometimes we ALL need to be a bit depressed, I get like that alot, But whatever...it's not like it's the end of the world, because tomorrow we'll probably just have a smile on our faces anyway, and have forgotten about the whole entire moment of depression. Cuz thats how it works...It's a process
JMW: WHOOT! HIGH FIVE!!!!!!!! Way to go *High-fives*
TV Showyness: X-files is a show that i've been interested in watching for a long while now, except...IT'S SO LONG! I can't afford the seasons, and it NEVER comes on tv starting from the star (Not that i've noticed, at least) SO yeah...thats my excuse. Monk is a show that my mom watches alot, I've watched it with her alot and, yeah, it is a pretty good watch. L&O Isn't anything i've ever been interested in... and Psych. Psych i've been tryiing to watch, actually, it looks really interesting and it seems to have a good storyline, so yeah...
You have fun with that homework
and nice poem, is that ANOTHER one you wrote (POrobably seeming as to how it would be kinda pointless to post someone elses poem on your blog unless it had some emotional meening or somthing along the lines of that, you know?) Or not. Who knows...? *Turns into fary mode*
Thanks for mentioning the things you did here. "Conversations With Dead People" was INDEFINETLY the best of Season 7! It's good to see you blog again.

T.J.: Yeah, a rejection over a period is a bit ridiculous.
Thanks for the high five
About watching The X-Files, I accepted that it'd take me forever to buy all nine seasons, so I'm watching it on TNT when I can. The show is mostly stand-alone episodes, so most of the time it doesn't make too big of a difference that I didn't exactly start from the beginning, and missed a few episodes here and there.
And yes, the poem is mine
Auntie: No problem. Great videos deserve to be seen
And one of the things I like about SVU is that it does in fact focus more on the investigator's lives. Hey, different people, different tastes, a diverse and interesting society.
Dave: Hey, conspiracy theories are fun when they're not useless worrying about whether or not anyone's actually been on the moon and the like.
Thanks for the cheering up
Glad you loved my poem
As for The X-Files, I've been catching as many episodes as I can on TV, but seeing as the only channel that I have that plays it plays it in the middle of the night, I've missed maybe 1/4 to 1/6 of the episodes, and I started at "Home" and the most recent episode I saw was the one with the ravens and mirrors. When I get money and get the DVDs I'll have a better idea of what's what, but for now, hopefully you can estimate how much/what I've seen.

Yeah, Bad Blood is really cool, and Monday's pretty good too. Season 8 is probably one of the best - although I like Season 9 as well (a lot of people don't seem to though).

What is an RST???
And lol, I am a grammar/punctuation nazi so I get why the staff would reject over a period. But the link thing totally baffles. Congrats on gaining the Woodward editorship. I just got James Leary.
I was thrilled because I heart Clem.
