GAMES: GameSpot GameFAQs MOVIES: Metacritic Movietome Comic-Con

Well I made my annual purchase of EA's NCAA10. As a huge college football fan, the season starts in July each year with this release. Not too much new this year, but the season showdown mode which tracks everything you do with a school and will have some sort of meaning once the season starts is a neat addition. Onto a few movies. Having really enjoyed Watchmen last week, the misses and I are in full blown movie mode. A few nights ago we watched Revolutionary Road. Wow. Amazing movie, if your married, I think it captures (in this case mostly bad) all the things that happen in a marriage people on the outside never see. Many, many times our friends or family have commented on my wife and I, how we are, how we argue, whatever, and we steal a glance at each other knowing they have no idea. I'm sure it's that way for every marriage, but this movie glaringly pointed it out, and we had an hour long discussion afterwards. DiCaprio was very, very good. I still think he looks young and has few facial expressions, but this was his best film IMO, and I think I've seen them all. Kate Winslet was stunning (The Reader must have been hella-good for her not to get the Oscar for this film). She has gotten better and better, and it had to be one of the best performances in a female lead I've ever seen. When the last frame ended and the credits rolled, we both spoke at the same time, JoAnn said "My God" and for the first time ever I said "Bravo". Wouldn't have been embarrassed saying it in a theater, it was that good. Also watched the Curious Case of Benjamin Button last night. Another very good movie, not as corny as Forrest Gump as many have said, and Pitt did a very good job. Overall, another very good movie, it's a great story I enjoyed reading, and I liked the movie nearly as much. So that's all in my world, 3 great movies in a week is great, hope to keep the streak going and not rent a clunker . Take care all! B

Great blog entry and while I prefer the pro game as a fan I have always felt EA has done a better job with the college game.

Kate Winslet was so much better in The Reader.

I like all football games - I enjoy Madden, FIFA, Pro Evolution, Rugby and if they made and Aussie Rules for NTSC I would play that too

I am fan of the Big 12 and that makes the NCAA game a good buy.

Not a huge DiCaprio fan his acting is inconsistant - sometimes he is good and sometimes you don't think he is even trying but a lot of them are like that. Especially after they have become stars.

I don't care about a movies ratings - I just want to enjoy myself so I pay little attention to the critics.

Does the NCAA '10 demo on the marketplace have multiplayer?

@sammyjenkis898: WOW! I'm watching The Reader later this week, I'll PM you after.
@LikeHaterade: Not really. It has 2 minute quarters with the only game UF Vs. OU, get it so I can kill you and the Gators Go Hogs!!!

I have been renting movies with a netflix trial and really enjoying it. Watching a good movie at night is the perfect way to end the day.

I seem to be the only one that likes it. Most people are just pissed off because it took up a spot for Best Picture.

Lol. Don't tempt me Bryan.

I liked the Benjamin Button movie too, but it was sad at the end.

Pac 10 rules! =P The rest of the country can only stare and drool, bwa ha. I think USC's record speaks for itself. I'd really like to play NCAA 10 though. I havent bought a NCAA game new in a loooong time (2006?). I played NCAA 08 but that was a whole recent ebay 99 cent purchase.

I really liked Benjamin Button, I even cried at the end (not a rarity for me), but my less emotional family members said it was a bad Forrest Gump ripoff.

I haven't seen many movies lately. Mostly been reading. Have to check out more movies though....

I read Revolutionary Road earlier this year and loved it. We haven't gotten around to watching the movie yet, but will soon. I hope it remains faithful to the book since there are so many key parts that I would like to see play out in the movie. Winslet and DiCaprio seem perfect to play the Wheelers.

I picked up NCAA 10 as well. For some reason I always felt EA did a better job with that game then they do with Madden. Have you started any Dynasty's yet? I have one with Texas Tech, Michigan, and Boston College. I also have a Road to Glory file with me as a DE at Penn State.

@sammyjenkis898: I trust you, I'm sure I'll like The Reader too.
@Allicrombie: The Pac-10, really Allie? This is SEC country, and our new TV contract will change everything in 3-5 years. By then there will be an SEC team playing for the NC every year. Wait, we already do .
@ragek1ll89: Year two with Arkansas. I play with Ark til I tire of the game then start a dynasty with Ark. State on Heisman for a challenge.
And I nearly cried at the end of Benjamin Button too!

Revolutionary Road is a great movie indeed. Both DiCaprio and Winslet were great. The part where April tells Frank she hates and loathes the sight of him is a great scene, even though it's a real downer. You can really feel Frank's bubble burst, going from a state of denial thinking April still loves him to complete regretful hatred for her. I also thought Kate was better in Revolutionary Road than The Reader, but I didn't think much of The Reader anyhow.

=O Thats allot of movies in a week!
Posted Jul 30, 2009 2:03 am PT
Revolutionary Road was indeed excellent, if a tad depressing. It captures human interaction on the whole very very well.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 3:57 am PT
The NCAA Football 10 demo was great to me since Im not a huge college football fan I will probably get the game later this year.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 10:12 am PT
Hogs?? Gators are the team! Can you say repeat! It is the year of the Tebow.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 2:48 pm PT
I seen Watchmen the other day, it was a great movie, but people kept bugging me.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 3:48 pm PT
I might check out NCAA10 know, sounds fun. I'm not a huge college football fan, but no better place to start then in the game.
Posted Jul 30, 2009 8:40 pm PT
Nice stuff... and I thought the reader was just that good. Maybe thats why I thought Revolutionary Road got boring at some points is because I do not know what it is like yet.
Posted Jul 31, 2009 8:35 am PT
Revolutionary road was just a big revisit of Titanic really.

@btaylor2404
PS3 or 360 NCAA 2010? If PS3, want to play a game or two?
Posted Aug 6, 2009 10:57 am PT
@nocoolnamejim: 360 for now, as soon as my PS3 comes back I'll trade the 360 game for the PS version, just prefer PS. So I'll let you know when I get it, we'll get our game on
