For the past several years, I have had multiple people tell me I should get into console gaming. I always tell them that I only play games on the PC. The usual reason I tell them, is that I like the feel of the mouse and keyboard instead of holding a controller. I'm a huge fan of the first-person shooter, so the feel of the player's movement on a controller just doesn't feel right. Now, I have played sports games in the past on the Playstation and Dreamcast, but that's about it.
Well, I recently received an XBOX from my friends at work as a wedding present to get me to try out console gaming. After trying out a few games like Tiger Woods 2004, ESPN NFL 2K5, Burnout 3, Max Payne 2, Halo, and others, I am now hooked!! I can't believe I waited this long to try out console gaming!! I went out and purchased a wireless Logitech controller, which is a little smaller than the one that came with the system, and I love it. It has taken me a while to get used to it, but I am just as efficient with the conroller as I am with the mouse and keyboard now. Also, with paying attention to XBOX games now, I am very excited about the release of Halo 2 as well as Tiger Woods 2005. It has added a whole new area of interest for me on Gamespot for checking out games. I used to pretty much ignore most of the console coverage, but now I can't wait for new content. This has also made me more interested in different genres of games as well.
For those that might actually read this, make sure you don't become closed minded about platforms and genres in gaming, because you never know what you might be depriving yourself of.
"I'm out!"
