I've seen Paula Abdul twice recently (and I'll be seeing her a lot more since I watch American Idol); once in footage from last week's interview with a Seattle tv station where she was dazed and confused, and once tonight (January 16th) in the opener for American Idol with the auditions in MN.

Both times she was ...odd. In the tv interview, she was raving about who-knows-what. In the auditions in MN she was extremely quiet. What gives? This girl doesn't seem to have a middle ground, really. She's either over the top or under the bottom!

The one thing that I keep in mind is that she makes me laugh, but not in a good way. It's more like it's 'OMG, I'm so glad she's not sitting next to me in the restaurant, or at a movie, or on the bus or whatever!' Fun to watch, but only from a distance.

He's what makes this movie oh-so-painful to watch. He looks so incredibly uncomfortable doing the required romantic scenes... well, required because it is, after all, a romance movie, right? He's about as wooden as a table leg. If you want to see a romance movie, see something else. If you want to see a Keanu Reeves movie, watch Speed or The Matrix, but don't waste your time on this piece of trash.

I saw this movie in the theatre when it came out, and I'm glad that I did. I hadn't previously liked Will Ferrell much, but this movie changed my mind about him. He plays the main character here very well, with just the right blend of enthusiasm and naivety.

The movie may be predictable - it's the typical fish out of water movie, but it's still funny, and has lots of references to the classic Christmas animation shows as well. The ending is just what everyone knows is going to happen, but it still works. That's just it... it works. And I think it's Will Ferrell that makes it work.

So I give the film an A+, and I think it's destined to become a Christmas classic.

Topher Grace played Eric Forman for seven years, and for six of those years, he was perfect. He was the perfect person to play the slightly wimpy, slightly nerdy, always caring and wonderful boyfriend to the hottest girl in Point Place. He played that character well, and as he said in an early interview, he had a lot of "research" into that type of character.

Unfortunately for him, the writers ruined the show in the seventh season. He seems to have been aware of this and got out as soon as he could, leaving the show Eric-less for its final year. The show suffered without him, but it was suffering in that final year he was there too.

He's been in movies, and seems to be playing the Eric-type character there too. I know he's capable of more, and different characters, like he played in Traffic, and I'd like to see him get those roles. He deserves them, as he's talented.

He tends to play the same type of character, particularly in the movies; he's the tough guy, maybe on the wrong side of the law, and always ready to kick some butt to get what he wants.

As Red Forman in That 70s Show, he was basically playing that same character again. He was the tough dad, but underneath it all, he cared, but he was still more than willing to kick some butt to get what he wanted.

He plays the character well, and he was really great as Red Forman; I'd like to see him in a different type of role though.

Debra Jo Rupp has played many roles, but is probably most famous for playing Kitty Forman on That 70s Show. This review is based mostly on that role. Kitty Forman was the perfect mom; she cared, but she was realistic as well, and knew the kind of things that kids got up to. She allowed her kids some leeway, but not too much. She had her faults as well, but she seemed like a real person. Debra Jo played this role extremely well, and the chemistry that she had with co-star Kurtwood Smith made them seem like they really were a couple who'd been married for 25 years.

It was unfortunate that the writers of the show decided to change her character, but Debra Jo handled those changes well, and continued to act even though they turned Kitty into a pill popping alcoholic.

I've seen her in other roles as well, and she always does well. She has good comedic timing, and is believeable in all the roles she plays. She's a talented actress.

Yes, I always thought Michael Kelso, as played by Ashton Kutcher, was a goof, and that playing him wouldn't be that difficult. I do know that playing stupid is difficult, but it just seemed like Ashton wasn't really acting that much.

Yes, I always thought Michael Kelso, as played by Ashton Kutcher, was a goof, and that playing him wouldn't be that difficult. I do know that playing stupid is difficult, but it just seemed like Ashton wasn't really acting that much.

I changed my opinion when I saw the final special for That 70s Show, "The Final Goodbye". In that, they talked about how Ashton would keep acting, no matter what happened, and he wouldn't break character. If something bad happened, he made it happen to the character, not him. And that, in my opinion, is the mark of a professional. There are too many shows (usually the live comedy skit type) where the actors break character, start laughing, or look at the camera and break the "fourth wall". It was good to hear that Ashton isn't one of those actors, and my opinion of him went up quite a bit.

He's a better actor than I thought, and more professional than I thought, and that's a good thing.

As Weevil, Francis plays a street tough, leader of a gang, and all-round not-nice guy. In the first season, he was friendly with Veronica, but there were always divided loyalties. He could be helpful when it suited his needs, but the character was always looking out for himself first. That character didn't really change in the second season. Francis plays the character well, but I believe that he's capable of playing different characters as well. He's a good actor, and I'd like to see him in different roles. I looked through his credits and it looks like quite a few of his roles have been similar to the role he plays on VM. He should branch out, and take different types of roles.

Jason Dohring appears as Logan Echolls on Veronica Mars, and this review is based on his appearance there.

As Logan, Jason has to play the rich spoiled kid. In the first season, he started out as not only rich and spoiled, but also a rotten person who was nasty most of the time. By the end of the first season, his character had changed completely into a caring person who was quite sweet and nice to Veronica. Jason played the character well, and made the transition from horrible to wonderful seem believeable. By the end of the first season, it was hard to remember that Logan used to be a jerk. By the second season, Logan got to go back to being the jerk, but the way that Jason plays him, it's still obvious that his character cares about Veronica, and could easily go back to being nice.

This must be a difficult role to play and Jason does it so well. He should be in more shows!

Rob showed up for the auditions under his own personal cloud; he'd previously been part of a band, and had a record deal, but that hadn't really gone anywhere. He auditioned and got into the finalists, and made it to the Top 10, after repeatedly being in the bottom four contestants. The cloud was still over his head, so much so that it was practically visible. The judges kept telling him to loosen up, and as the weeks went by, he began to do that.

By the week that they did the hits of the 70s, Rob had definitely loosened up; his singing was always wonderful to listen to, but it only got better as he bacame more and more relaxed. It was unfortunate that he got voted off that week, as he was really beginning to come into his own; the only thing that I can hope for is that he gets another record deal out of his appearance, and continues to sing, because he has a marvellous voice.

Rebecca Northan plays Diane MacLeod, Alice's mom, on "Alice, I Think". She's a grown-up hippy, believes in animal rights, protesting, and vegetarianism. Alice is embarrassed by her, but what kid isn't embarrassed by their parents?

Rebecca plays this role with wit and humour; in the wrong hands, this quirky character could come out looking bad, but Rebecca plays her as caring, and concerned about her family... she really adds to the scenes that she's in, and is pretty much the voice of sanity out of all the characters in the show.

I've never seen Rebecca in anything other than "Alice, I Think", but she seems to be a good actress, and I'd like to see her in more shows.

Tyler Lewis was a contestant on the 2006 season of Canadian Idol, and this review is based on his appearance there. Tyler is from a small town in Saskatchewan, and from the beginning, seemed to be a rocker. He performed some Nickelback songs and did them well, as he even sounds a bit like Chad Kroeger. One thing that he had a problem with was what to do with his hands while he was singing, and the guest stars tried to help him with that... and although he was a great singer, he was definitely stiff while singing.

Until the top 3 week, when they did Pop Standards. Suddenly, Tyler turned into this fantastic crooner, with great moves! It was amazing, and great to see him finally loosen up. He was marvellous that week, and I can't believe that he was voted off after his wonderful performance. But such is life; I'm sure that Tyler will have a recording career in his near future, and I'll be first in line to buy his cds!

He came in second, losing the Idol crown to Melissa O'Neil. In all honesty, I thought he was a better singer than she was. However, as far as fame goes, that doesn't seem to have mattered, as he went on the cross-Canada tour with her, and did a tv special with her... so he's benefitted just as much, without actually winning.

In fact, he released an album (so did she) and his was nominated for a JUNO Award (the Canadian equivalent of a Grammy) while hers wasn't... so maybe I was right and he is the better singer!

I've seen two shows that Haig Sutherland has been in: Alice, I Think and Robson Arms. I knew that he was in both shows before I saw them, but when I saw the second one (Alice, I Think), I wouldn't have recognized him if I hadn't known what character he was playing.

That's a good thing in an actor, I think. He's so completely different in each role, that he's unrecognizable, which means that he's able to play all sorts of roles.

As I said, I've only seen him in the two, but they're completely opposite roles, and he's played them both well. He should be in more tv roles!

Dan Payne plays John extremely well; he's the grown up hippy who never really grew up, and is dependant on his wife to support him while he "does his own thing." He's a laid-back character, and likes to drink beer and listen to music. His parenting skills are somewhat lacking, but his wife is always there to help out. In reading his biography, it seems that Dan is extremely talented in other areas as well; having had a few careers before his acting began. It's amazing all that he's done. He should be in more shows.

Ryan Robbins plays the counsellor that everyone would hate to get; he's neurotic, afraid of his own shadow and timid. He's always second guessing himself and completely lacks confidence. Ryan plays this role well, and with humour, so that Bob doesn't come off looking like some pathetic wimp, but as a comedic figure.

I'd like to see Ryan Robbins in more shows; I know he's done other things, but I haven't seen them, and he should definitely get more roles based on what I've seen him do; he's a great actor!

Kristen Bell is best known for her lead role as Veronica Mars in the tv show of the same name. She plays a high-school teenager whose father is a private investigator; her mother left the two of them on their own, and Veronica tends to take after her dad in being very curious about everything. She's a teenaged P.I., and does some work for her dad as well as some work around the school for her friends, or anyone who wants to hire her.

She's excellent in the role of a smart, capable young woman. She can deal out all the emotional requirements for the role, and do so believeably. I haven't really seen her in anything else, but I'm sure that she'd do just as well in any project she was involved in. She's a great actress in a great show!

I first knew of Denis Leary from his comedy albums, and the song, maybe his most famous song, "I'm An A**hole", which I thought was hilarious. I've heard some of his other comedy albums, and always thought that they were funny.

I was surprised when I first saw him in movies, but he did well in them. He was quite funny in "The Ref", and also in "Demolition Man", where he pretty much played himself, and did one of his comedy rants as the main scene that he was in. I was even more surprised when I saw him in "Rescue Me". And it was nothing like his comedy stuff, it was serious. And it was good. He proved himself to be a good actor, and someone who could do more than just his comedy routines on screen. The show is moving, and Leary is great in it. He should do more shows, and more comedy!

Enrico Colantoni is a very versatile actor; he was in Just Shoot Me and played one type of character there; and now he's in Veronica Mars, playing a different type of character. He plays both well, and while that's the role of an actor, he plays them so well that I initially didn't realize that it was the same actor in both shows.

The real eye-opener came when I was watching one of my favourite movies, Galaxy Quest, and was reading the credits at the end, and realized that he's in that too, and plays the lead alien! That was a shock and made me realize what a great actor he really is.

He should be a bigger star than he is, but that seems to be the way with Hollywood...

I can't wait to see Ray Liotta's new series in the fall! I hope it does well and doesn't get cancelled after four episodes, like so many shows do. Hopefully, the fact that Ray Liotta is in it will give it some star power and carry it through the...

I've loved Ray Liotta since I first saw him in his role in the movie Dominic And Eugene with Tom Hulce. It was such a wonderful movie and Ray was superb in it as the caring brother who is over-worked looking after his mentally deficient brother and trying to become a doctor at the same time. He gave a powerful performance there. He was also wonderful in bringing the baseball legend Shoeless Joe Jackson to life in the movie Field Of Dreams, one of my all-time favourite movies!

Ray has proven himself to be a very diverse actor who can take on all kinds of roles; he can be the good guy or the bad guy, and that, in my opinion is the sign of a good actor.

I've only ever seen Connor Price in the CTV show "Alice, I Think" where he plays Mac, Alice's younger brother, and this review is based on his role there.

Connor is only 12 years old, yet he's a talented actor. His role in "Alice, I Think" is medium-sized; he's in many scenes, but not all of them. He does very well in the scenes he's in, and manages to convey all the emotions of the only mentally stable member of a wacky family. He doesn't over-play the role either, he just comes across as an above-average intelligence, normal kid who's burdened with hippy parents and a slightly crazy sister, a family that he cares about but often has to look after.

I know he's been in some big-budget Hollywood movies, and with the acting that I've seen him do, I'm sure he'll be in more. I just hope he doesn't suffer the fate of so many child-actors, and disappear into drugs and alcohol as he gets older.

I've only seen Carly in her lead role as Alice in the CTV show "Alice, I Think", and she's great in that. She plays a slightly out-of-place teen in a small town where anything out of place definitely stands out. Her problems may not be the biggest in the world, but they're big to her.

She plays the part well; she's been given great scripts to work with and the source material is great as well. The books by Susan Juby are quite funny, and although they've been changed somewhat for television, the main character really shines through.

Carly does well in the lead role and is a strong enough actress to carry the show. I'm sure we'll be seeing her in a lot more shows in the future!

Ben Mulroney is the host of both e-Talk Daily and Canadian Idol. I guess that as far as being a host goes, he does a good job. He doesn't make mistakes, he reads a teleprompter well, he's tall, good looking and personable. I find that when he talks, he always sounds like he's rushing a bit, like maybe that what he's saying is just so exciting he can't wait to tell the rest of Canada. I suppose that's a good thing in a host. As well, he's fully bilingual, and so can talk to people in either English or French, and he pronounces the French names properly.

On to the bad points... he's a little wooden looking, I find. I know I said he's personable, but still he manages to come off as stiff as well. Which is annoying, sometimes. I guess the only person that I could compare him to is Ryan Seacrest and in a contest between those two, I'd pick Ryan as being friendlier and ... well, just less wooden.
