He's is the great one, nothing more to say. Wayne holds the records for it seems like about every catogery in the NHL. I was born after his prime so I never really got a chance to seem him live, but when I look at old footage of him I am amazed. But I think there is one man that could test him for the best player of all time; and that's Mark Messier. Even though Mark didn't have the stats, Wayne never won a Cup on his own and Messier did twice. Overall, Wayne Gretzky is one of the greatest people to put on a pair of skates.

All the talk prior to the season was focused on another freshman - Sidney Crosby - but Ovechkin stole the headlines by becoming only the second rookie in NHL history to score 50 goals and 100 points in a season. But it's not just about the stats with the Russian sniper, it's more about the way he plays the game. When you consider that he's second all-time to only Wayne Gretzky in assists, it's fair to say that Ronnie Franchise is the greatest set-up human in NHL history (due to the fact that we all know Gretzky was born on the same planet as Superman). Francis is the ultimate blue-collar athlete: normal home life, unassuming personality, incredible work ethic, and an even better personality. When he played on elite teams, he was overshadowed by the likes of Super Mario and Jagr, but there's one stat that Ron will take with him to the Hall of Fame that not even The Great One could match: 22 straight 50+ point seasons. That kind of production is unheard of these days.

The Yankees won the World Series four times in Jeter's first five full years on the job. He was named the team's captain in 2003, becoming the first Yankee captain since Don Mattingly's retirement in 1995. In the early 2000s he was often compared with fellow shortstop prodigies Nomar Garciaparra and Alex Rodriguez. Derek hustles on every play and does anything to win. Even as a Met fan I love how he plays, and how he performs in the clutch. He's a definte Hall of Famer.
