It's been a fun week but unfortunately the one thing missing has been gaming!

Monday I went to the Flyers game and they befittingly had their way with Tampa, winning 6-2. It was bittersweet getting that last goal on Niittymaki, though... always was a fan... But anyway, the game was moved to 5 PM due to the home World Series game, so a lot of the Wachovia Center made their way to the AT&T Pavilion (the big sports bar in the center) to enjoy dollar dogs and $4 domestics and watch the Phillies game together. It was a pretty awesome time, only that Erich and I could only stay until roughly the 4th inning because we had to catch a train home. We should've left about 5 minutes earlier because by the time the subway got to the train station, we had missed it by that much and had to wait another hour for the next train. Not a big deal but man was I tired when we finally got home. Phillies won it 8-6, forcing game 6, which is tonight!

So because of the Flyers game, I missed jiu-jitsu on Monday and I'll be heading back there today. Plan is to go straight from there to my buddy's house and watch the Phillies game, rooting them on to force game 7. Go Pedro.

I'm so closeto 100% re-aquiring my life. I know I've been painfully vague over the last couple of months about some things, namely what was causing me to be depressed for quite a bit. Thing is that I had been in a very serious relationship for about a year and a half, and we were very close to engagement (by close, I mean the ring was in my drawer). But I was getting caught up in the whole "let's get married cause we're supposed to" thing and it took me a while to realize that I was very much not happy, and had been depressed for a while. The lack of gaming was small peanuts compared to everything else going on in my head due to details I won't get into, but I wised up and got out of what was going to be a very bad decision for myself. I've been a lot happier since, but we still live together, which is awkward. I've more or less been hanging out at my friend Erich's house just about 24/7 and brought my PS3 there, and have been generally hanging out with him the whole time until everything is sorted out. I'm hearing from third parties that she's found a place to go, so I'm about to get my place back. I couldn't be more excited or relieved. However, there's a good chance that the worst thing to come out of this will be far too many late nights playing games... but you know, I miss them.

That said, I'm anxious to get full-swing on my second Mass Effect play-through. I'm happy with my PC's performance since I've been in some firefights and can walk through any area of the citadel without my fps getting under 30, with all the details turned up including vsync. The textures aren't the nicest in that game though anyway, notably when the conversation close-ups are occurring. So it's not the stiffest hardware test, but it's nice regardless. Love that game, though. This time I'm going through with my character as the Engineer (100% tech) and I'm planning on making my final squad setup with the soldier and biotic, so I get a trio of 100% soldier, 100% tech, and 100% biotic. We'll see how it works out. I'm also deciding to be an a**hole this time around and do the Renegade thing instead of the Paragon path I took last time. We'll see how it changes some decisions and outcomes.

Let's go Phillies!

Crazy stuff. Relationships are huge, and can affect so many parts of your life, so it's tough when things aren't going well. I look forward to hearing when things are straightened out!

@ebbderelict @payne6705

Thanks guys. It's something that was taking over my life and well-being for far too long really, but even though it's still awkward, things are already exponentially better.

Hang in there bud. As far as life transitions go, I'm in the same boat but I feel there's a light at the end of the tunnel. Keep on truckin' ! It's not easy.

Good to hear that you're getting your life back! I remember that blog post you wrote several weeks ago, about changing your life and how good was the impact on your everyday routine. This is the true definition of Wisdom, from my point of view. =) It isn't easy to be wise enough to live a good life.

I kinda promissed @topsemag55 that I would play Mass Effect (I still have to buy it, though), but I'm reluctant on getting it because I don't know if my modest rig will run the game smoothly. But I'll play it, and I'm also planning to get Dragon Age and Dead Space. =)

Gaming is a enjoyable yet serious job!

@ChristianKiss When I bought Mass Effect, I was running it on a Dell XPS 600 with XP SP3.

All it had was a Pentium 4 with two Logical (not physical) Cores, at 3.0 GHz, and 2 GB RAM with a nVidia 7800 GTX (256 MB) graphics card (which is now a 5-year-old GPU).

If your rig matches or beats that, you'll have no problems with Mass Effect. Of course, I did things to conserve memory, like after startup I would use the Task Manager to close unnecessary programs so more RAM would be free for games.
