When I was researching Michael Zaslow while attempting to gain his guide, I learned quite a bit about the man who I watched for so many years. The kind and generous actor, who passed away in 1998, was truly one of the greatest men to ever work in daytime televison. As "Roger Thorpe" on the long running CBS soap opera "Guiding Light", Zaslow brought the idea of a villain to a whole new level. He captured the hearts of the show's fans in spite of themselves, and managed to stir up every possible emotion.

Michael developed ALS sometime in the 90s and although the illness is debilitating, he found a way to champion for the cause and return to daytime television. On "One Life to Life", a show he had appeared on in the 80s, Michael once again played "David Renaldi" an ex-spy who was now suffering for the same disease as Michael.

He genuinely was one of the all-time greats, in television... and in life.

Even before Top Chef's Second Season took place I knew I was going to root for him. He's a Long Islander, as I am, and that was reason enough to "vote" for him to win my favorite reality show.

Even before Top Chef's Second Season took place I knew I was going to root for him. He's a Long Islander, as I am, and that was reason enough to "vote" for him to win my favorite reality show.

I classified him as talented, but I am really making that statement for his work in the kitchen and on the show. Does he deserve his own television series, I don't know. But was he exciting to watch while competing on Top Chef, yes.

Many people were turned off by his attitude in the later episodes of the season, but you've got to take all of that reality show garbage in stride and just think about the guy or girl as a chef and how well they compete in each of the challenges week after week. And Ilan was terrific.

I might be alone in saying it, but I'm glad he won. Heck, he could never be as bad as Gordon Ramsey, and that's saying something.

Orlagh Cassidy is fantastic, but I just hate her! Or should I say, I hate Doris Wolfe, the woman she plays on the CBS soap Guiding Light.

Doris is the overly critical D.A. and mother to lovable Ashlee, and Orlagh plays her so perfectly you nearly forget that you're watching her act the part. I believe that's a testament to how wonderful an actress she is, that you can watch her doing her thing and forget that you're watching a television show and not some nasty lady treat people like dirt.

My one problem is that Orlagh's character isn't a bigger part on the show, which would give us a chance to hate her more often. But seriously, Orlagh is excellent and definitely worth watching.

Christopher Bernau was a truly wonderful actor. By the time I started watching Guiding Light, his character, Alan Spaulding was a full fledged bad guy and the man you loved to hate on the show. He simply out-classed many of the other actors on the show. He had a commanding voice and movie star good looks, although I know now that he felt he was only "average looking". He is the standard by which all millionaire mogul characters on soaps should be judged.

Christopher died when he was only in his 40s so we never got to see him reach his full potential, but I'm willing to bet any role he would have played would have been with the same style and flair with which he played Alan Spaulding.

Caitlin Van Zandt is not your average soap star. She's not a size two diva walking across the screen in her bra and panties making "goo goo eyes" at the hunky towel-clad hero, yet that is exactly what makes her great. She's a woman EVERY woman can relate to. As Guiding Light's Ashlee, Van Zandt brings new life to how a soap star is perceived, and does it all with a fresh sense of humor and amazing talent. Girls of all ages can watch this fantastic actress on televisions longest running show and finally find someone they can relate to, and not a moment too soon. A lot of people made fun of the television show American Gladiators, saying it was just a "bunch of over muscled weight-lifters who spend each episode beating on little people". And while I never believed that this was true I do know that most of the stars of the show have easily been forgotten, maybe not by me, but by most casual views of the show. Shelley Beattie is possibly the biggest exception to that "rule".

Shelley Beattie, best known as Gladiator Siren, overcame a great deal in life to get where she was on the show, most notably was the fact she is deaf. She proved to everyone watching; and more importantly, the deaf community, that you never had to let anything get in the way of achieving your goals.

A world-class bodybuilder, an American Gladiator, a business woman, and a member of a World Cup Sailing team, Beattie is a woman to be admired and emulated. And though she has not been in the public eye for quite a few years, you can bet that Siren is singing a sweet song of inspiration to everyone around her.

Joan Jett is a true inspiration. Every little girl who has heard rock 'n roll music and wanted to pick up a guitar has Joan Jett to thank. Though she is not the first woman in the business to play guitar, she might well be the best known.

With a string of hits, a stint on Broadway, and dozens of television appearances, Joan Jett is easily one of the best loved women in music today. And, at nearly 50 years old, she shows no signs of slowing down.

Joan was recently named one of the sexiest women in rock 'n roll, beating out many singers half her age. Put that dime in your juke box, baby!

He was strong, he was kind, he was entertaining, and yeah... he was also very handsome.

When I was younger it was Laser who kept me watching every week. No matter what event he was in, he started it off with a smile for the camera and all the fans out there watching.

He gave it his all for each event, and was hardly ever defeated, and yet you never minded when he won because he wasn't one of those "in your face" type athletes. Sure, he enjoyed a good victory, but he was never a sore winner about it, which is probably what made him one of the most loved of all Gladiators.

From the moment I first saw Kim (on GL) all those years ago, I fell in love with the character that has become one of the best loved in the long, rich history of the show.

It's no wonder this talented woman has won 4 Daytime Emmy Awards. She has redefined the "soap actress" and given her new life.

There's a reason why Raye Hollitt's Zap is one of the best loved "American Gladiators" of all time. She was a kick butt woman who gave 110% each time she entered Gladiator Arena, she treated all the contestants with respect, and she won (and lost) every event she was in with a smile. Over the years Raye became more then just a bodybuilder who got a job beating people up on television; she became a businesswoman who helps other women who want the chance to make it in the world of professional bodybuilding.

Like many people I will always remember her as Zap, but in truth, Raye Hollitt is so much more.

If you look at the name Erika Andersch you probably would say to yourself, "Who?" Then you check out her credits, see the name Diamond and it all clicks. The gorgeous Erika Andersch competed for 3 years on the hit show "American Gladiators". Diamond was my favorite of all the female gladiators because not only was she strong but she was also beautiful. She showed the world that just because you're a "tough chick" doesn't mean that you have to be mannish. During her final season on AG, Erika looked more like Marilyn Monroe then Ms. Olympia, but her competitive spirit was still apparent in every event.
