Well, I've been back at school for nigh on a week now, rather dull really.

My holiday to Ireland was great, really relaxing, it rained quite a lot, but that's to be expected. We were staying in Nenagh in County Tipperary, where we climbed the Devil's Bit (in the rain) and did various other walks etc. Which was what we did a lot of, because there aren't very big towns or anything. Overall it was great fun.

Now that I'm back to school I have had quite a lot of homework already (which is rather irritating) and I have Target Setting Day in a week, where I will get my grades for the term so far (I do not think they will be very good). I have also got to submit my UCAS form within the next week really (YIKES), I have barely started my personal statement, and I'm still thinking about whether I even want to go to university or not.

We recently had a visit from the eminent biologist and renowned author and broadcaster Professor Steve Jones, who gave us a brilliant lecture on genetics and evolution, and then fielded question afterwards. I don't know quite how we got him to come along and give it, but it was very good and I'm very that we did get him.

In other news, one of our rival schools, just across the road, has managed to bag the Queen to come and open their new building tommorrow. Lucky them, when we opened our new building we got the Lord Mayor (who's pretty rubbish compared to the Queen), 20 years ago when we opened our last building we had the Princess Royal opening it, but that was ages ago. I might sneak across the road and try to mingle with the crowds there, I've never even seen the Queen in person before, so I would like to do so.

I'm just watching the live Question Time debate on BBC1 (also available on the web) between David David and David Cameron, which should prove to be interesting, as it is their last chance to try and influence the 300,000 party members from around the country, who at the weekend are going to elect one of them as the new Tory party leader. I'm personally backing David Cameron, who has quite a lead in the opinion polls, but a lot of the people interviewed said that a large part of their decision would rest upon tonight's debate and the policies and views that come across.
