I have yet to hear from the extended warranty company, since Sunday when I called reporting the problem and got my repair number. The person told me I might not hear anything until Tuesday, as his manager was planning on taking Martin Luther King day off. Hopefully, later today I'll hear something positive from RepairMaster.com.
In the meantime, though, FEDEX (who does work on Martin Luther King day) delivered a package I ordered a little over a week ago. I got it from Page Computers who did a good job, except they never got a tracking number to me. I even sent E-Mail asking for it and they said "duh."
I got a Pinnacle USB Video Capture device with Studio Plus version 10. This allows me to watch TV on my laptop by using the S-VHS output of my HDTV DVR.
Side note: I used to use an Iomega SuperDVD Quicktouch 16X as my video capture device. When I replaced my hard drive, I had to reinstall Windows XP Professional (Service Pack 2). Unfortunately, I forgot how I got the Iomega video drivers working. When I contacted Iomega customer support and their forums, I got nothing but the run around. They kept saying how support for the DVD is automatic in Windows XP Professional Service Pack 2.
I kept telling the Iomega support people I wasn't talking about the DVD support. I was talking about the video part of the device. The device drivers won't load from the CD (via the installation program or Windows' hardware manager).
Anyway, I watched the episodes the DVR recorded Sunday and then live TV Monday evening. Unfortunately and why I say it is "kind of working," the picture and sound are out of sync. I suspect the capture and video creation would have them in sync but watching the episode "live" creates the issue. I'm grateful the Pinnacle USB device arrived and it works.
Oh, wasn't 24 outstanding?!! They actually did a nuke on US soil, which hopefully God will never allow (except on TV!!).
Update: I called RepairMasters to find out the status of my repair order. They already faxed the order to A&G Radio & Television in Oak Lawn, IL. A&G are processing orders as they came in and are quite busy (it seems). So, I'm sitting back and waiting, while watching TV on a very small screen provided by Studio Plus version 10.
Second update: A&G Radio and Television called saying they could pick up my TV on January 25, 2007, which was over a week away. It would then take one week to fix without parts and longer if they had to order one or more parts.
My Son-In-Law and adopted Son offerred to take the TV to A&G Radio and Television (plus it is near their home). The TV is there for at least a week, if not longer. Hopefully, they will get it working and I won't have any more problems.
In the meantime, though, my husbear set up an tube based analog TV, so I have a larger screen than what Studio Plus 10 has been giving me. Slowly, things are getting closer to normal.
