Feel free to:
Make a list of your favourite Anime shows
Or if you don't like Anime just say so
My favorites are:
Ghost In The Shell-Both the series and the film are overwhelmingly beautiful. Mamoru Oshii created an amazing emotionally driven anime that deserves the rank of 'Classic' as do some of the other anime on this list. The characters are well fleshed out and the series holds alot of depth, as do its cities inhabitants.
Virus Buster Serge-Brilliant lesser known series in which the organization STAND tries to protect the city and the people who live there from an entity, known as the Virus, that can take over machines (and most of mankind has melded with machines).
She, The Ultimate Weapon (Saikano)-Not for everyone as it focuses more on the relationship between its two main characters,Shuji and Chise, than on the action.
Cowboy Bebop-Both series and film are breathtaking. This series will make you care about the main characters as their pasts slowly catch up with them and they must each deal with their past almost completely alone.
Elfen Lied-One of the most controversial animes, yet also one of the most beautiful and emotional.
Neon Genesis Evangelion-One of the greatest animes to be made, though many fans were disappointed by the ending which spawned a film to show the ending from a different perspective. (More films are also being made and are remakes of the entire series)
Death Note-A very unique series, which also stars a very unique character. The main character, Light Yagami (Kira) is a character that cannot be known as being good or evil. He kills people, uses people and yet he is still a likeable character (though my friend really liked his coolness by the end of the series he didn't think of him in the same way anymore. He was very disappointed by the ending).
Dragonball, Dragonball Z and Dragonball GT-A legendary series (I was lucky enough to catch these series when it was first released on UK TV and wasn't disappointed by what I saw, though the Uncut versions are much better
).
Akira-Though I believe that Akira has been blown widely out of proportion by saying it is 'The Greatest Anime Film Ever' it is an amazing accomplishment, though I don't believe it's the 'greatest Anime' I do believe that as well as some other Anime's on this list that it is one of them.
Metropolis-The city portrayed in this is breathtaking (reminds me of an earlier Rapture), The characters lack depth, but it comes across that this was done on purpose so that you feel more attached to the innocent robots rather than the war mongering humans. I found myself emotionally connected to the robots rather than the humans.
Gundam Wing-Yet another series I was lucky enough to grow up with. This is one of the best Mech Anime series out there and also deserves to be known as a Classic. You'll find yourself growing emotionally attached to the characters as they each go on near suicidal missions and also for the characters that stay behind only for the war to find them.
and Naruto- The series which makes you laugh at times and can also be serious and emotional. This series balances the serious nature of it's theme with humorous moments.
