Hardcore gaming at it's finest here. With more games and game systems than I know what to do with I'm still enjoying my hobby and have become a self-style connoisseur of video games.

Well it's official. I've moved over to the Playstation 3 since it's been dominating the gaming market and looks quite promising for 2009-2010. I'm pretty excited about the release line up and if you look at my wish list the majority of the games are PS3. I've realize that I'm not as much of an online console gamer as I am a PC gamer. The only game I've really played online heavily is WoW but I've since retired myself playing that game for almost 5 years and will wait until Starcraft 2 comes out (just recently found out it's delayed until 2010). It's been a while since I've played an RTS so I will have to get my skills back on the older games. Any how back to the consoles, it will definitely be "PSWii" for me. It started out with just the 360, then bought a Wii and became "Wii60", then I bought a PS3 and became "PSWii60", and now I will be selling my 360 if I can and finish out as a "PSWii". It's been a interesting 2 years on the console front and moving forward it should be even more interesting.

Well it looks as if the MGS4 storm has subsided and X360 is still going strong.

I have not found a reason to buy a PS3 other than Tekken 6 and MGS4. The surprising blow was that

Final Fantasy will be on X360. With Blu-Ray winning the format war I expect MS to convert their machines with Blue-Ray units?

We'll see.

Final Fantasy has been a part of my RPG experience since 1997. I've always has an interest in RPG without realizing that RPG was the genre. If you look a games like The Legend of Zelda and Golvellius, those were my roots. I hate talking about FF7 because it's such a touchy topics with most gamers. You have the fans of the series pre-FF7, then you have the fans of the series post-FF7. Even though I started the series at 7. I did take the time to play the prequels with my SNES and some emulation help. The most notable change is the graphical changes and the gameplay changed over the years. Back then the gameplay had to be good because pixel graphics were limited and started to become complacent. Once the gaming systems started to evolve the graphics naturally evolved parallel but the gameplay was not growing. It's the argument of graphics versus gameplay. People get all excited about the graphics and the gameplay would be awful and vice versa. I hate hearing the arguement if the graphics are not good, I'm not playing it. Then why do we play emulators from time to time and most games still have staying power like The Revenge of Shinobi, Mario Kart or ill take it back even further Super Mario Bros. 3. The graphics were decent but it was the gameplay that sold us.

Getting back to my point Final Fantasy's graphics especially with the cut scenes that advance the story have really came a long way. FF7 started to show CG animation and tried to "blend" the cut scene to the actual gameplay screen. It was ingenious to pull off and you could notice the transition point. By the time FF10 came out the opening scene was very smooth and attempted to do something very similar with transitioning cut scene to gameplay screen. The preview for FF13 looks amazing so far. In game cut scenes have been the big thing with current gen console technology and will be even bigger for next gen. The goal to have seamless transitions between gameplay and cut scenes seems all the more viable. I'm really looking forward to see how the game progress.
Some people just don't have opinions. Like blakkthoth.
blakkthoth must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could blakkthoth possibly have for not rating a single film?
