This Decade brought many great, controversial, and innovative games. But which of the hundreds rank among as the greatest that this decade had to offer? Well Here are some honorable Mentions

Shadow of Collossus

The Game that broke the cliche of making enemy bosses that dwarf the main character, Shadow of Collossus took that idea and expanded it beyond belief. Even on the outdated PS2 Hardware, Gamers still marvel at the sheer size of the colossi, the titular race of creatures that make up the entirety of the gameplay experiance. There are no Rank and File enemies, just the colossi. In order to kill the colossi, the player will have to climb up its giant body and shimmy your way to its weak points and destroy it each weak point at a time. Its a magical adventure that includes magnificant cutscenes of majesty and exuberance. Shadow of Collossus is a work of brilliance that represents an emotional high point for the video game medium.

God of War II

What is there to say about God of War that hasnt been said? Its most likely the best game to come out in 2007. And it ended the PS2 era greatly, putting it to rest with a bang! The story continues the story of Kratos, where even more ellaborate Monsters and mythical beasts are your enemies. It is probably the greatest Hack and Slash Game ever released and gets better every time you play it. And it is a fitting way to end the PS2 legacy with dignity.

Metal Gear Solid 4

This is a major no brainer to put on there. Metal Gear Solid 4 was the game that saved the PS3. When the PS3 was heavily criticized for its lack of good games, those critics were shut up quick with the release of Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots! What makes this game so great. It has probably the greatest graphics i have ever seen in a game, the gameplay was a great improvment from the previous games, and the story was where it struck major gold. The story continues the already Famous Metal Gear Saga and ended Solid Snakes story epicly. When Snake walks through the giant Microwave and barely makes it you cannot help but salute right in front of the screen. If you are a PS3 owner and you have not played this game, well, your dumb

Portal

Portal was the thinking mans FPS game. It had no guns at all, and only required your brain to play and complete. This is excellent proof that video games CAN be brain teasers, and trust me you will be stuck!!! This game may actually destroy your perception of reality itself. The game is focused around a female protagonist who tries to escape a fictional institution that was designed by MC Escher. This institution had no linear way out, so our hero had to use a portal gun, a futuristic weapon designed to make portals (Duh!) into walls, floors, and ceilings. The dark, subtle and at the same time comedic dialogue was used to advance the avant-garde plot. Although it was short (Well long considering you will be stuck half the time) Portal has left a huge impression on the gaming industry, and no doubt deserves to be recognized as one of the greatest games of the decade.

Runescape

Theres liking a video game, theres being addicted to a video game, but when a video game feels like your second life, thats how you know its good. Runescape is a great MMORPG made by Jagex, While gaining criticism from gamers calling it dull and boring and having bad graphics, just wanna let you know that i felt the same way when i first started playing. But when i became a member all that changed, and i was hooked. This game allowed you to take part in many Skills, and had ****c elements such as slaying monsters and taking place in a familiar medival setting. This game was released TWO YEARS before World of Warcraft, therefore i believe it should be mentioned. It did something that WoW is taking credit for and Runescape came out first. Which i think is wrong.

Well those are my honorable picks for GOTD, i know im missing alot, but its late and im tired and wanna finish this . So as you can tell this decade brought some fantastic games, but there is one in particular that changed everything. A game that came out of nowhere and stirred up many controversies. On that 2001 day, gaming would never be the same. I have given hints, now it is time. You probably figured it out by now, but here is my Game of the Decade

Game of the Decade: Grand Theft Auto III

"Go anywhere and do anything." That wasn't a familiar concept to gamers in 2001, who were usually given a clear starting point and finish line in their games, be it a checkered flag or a "Level Complete" message. Grand Theft Auto III hit players with a one-two punch, dropping gamers into a huge virtual city that completely abandoned the concept of levels and rules. With a sprawling 3D Liberty City sitting at their fingertips, players were suddenly free to explore at their own pace, take on amusing side quests, look for Hidden Packages...or if, they wanted, beat up civilians and blow up the cops. For the first time, anything was possible. As it turned out, the idea of doing anything proved irresistible to players, who oftentimes ignored GTAIII's central storyline missions in favor of simply goofing around. I remember playing GTAIII for the first time and feeling like I had been struck by lightning. I knew right away that I was seeing a revolution, and that the effects would be huge for the industry. Revolutionary, but also influential: for years following GTAIII's release, dozens of new games adopted the same sandbox play ****that GTAIII had perfected. But it was a testament to Rockstar North's talent that virtually all of these games were revealed to be shallow clones that lacked the wit and vision of the originator.

R.I.P. 60 GB PS3

Yep it happened, after all my paranoia and panicking, my PS3, got the Yellow Light of Death. Its been showing signs like not overheating kinda fast, and when i put in Modern Warfare 2, it didnt have sound, so i turned it off hoping it will go back to normal, well so much for that, the red light blinked, turned green, and at that moment i knew what would come next, that light turned Yellow, it was what i feared. So what really sucks is that i have nothing to do for the rest of this snow day, and Modern Warfare 2 is trapped in there, and all my data is lost, that means i have to start over my Big Boss Emblem in Metal Gear Solid 4 :/. Well the bright side is that Christmas is coming up and ill just have to ask my parents for a 120 GB, This really freakin Sucks!

bigboss1203 must really love MovieTome and agree with every review we've ever written! What other reason could bigboss1203 possibly have for not rating a single film?
