Okay boys and girls. Since someone hinted at me at school a few days ago that I haven't been on Gamespot all that much lately, here is a new topic.

Now we've all be gamers for quite some time. Some of us, a lot longer than others. But for each one of us, there is one game that will forever remain in our memories as our favorite. It might not even be considered a great game or a super popular one, but for some reason it still happens to be your favorite. So what is that game for you? Don't just list the game either. We want to know why you loved it as much as you did. Oh and it can be any platform, any time, any game.

As I look back at my long gaming career, I am having a hard time coming up with one. I might have to say the original Contra for Nintendo. It was an amazing action game that you could easily play co-op with. In fact it was way more fun that way; however, I don't think I can list that as my all time favorite favorite. That award, as of right now, goes to Half-Life 1 for the PC. Before I had played that game, I had never been so emmersed in a video game world, story, epic, etc. The story was flawless, and it was the perfect blend between crazy, all out gun fights and eerie dark creepy parts that were made all the more creepy because often times nothing actually happened. I have played some games through several times, but none have been quite so enjoyable as Half-Life. Everytime I played it through I found something new. Gordon Freeman is a great hero character. Thrown into something he doesn't want to be a part of, but he has no choice. Despite that and the fact that he is a nerdy scientist, he still kicks absolute butt. Half-Life brought me back to gaming and it will always hold a special place in my heart.

Super Smash Bros. Melee would be mine. The original SSB for the N64 was the first videogame I had ever played, and I really enjoyed it. As I grew older, and got my first console, a Gamecube, I bought SSB: Melee. My other friends also had the game, and whenever I went to a party, or had friends over we always played Melee. I have played it easily over 150 hours in all. I have memorized all the stages, and I remember playing it alot when I first bought it. What I like about it is that there are infinate possibiblities of fighting. With so many items, stages, and characters, it is very hard to get bored. It is also something that when you get good at it, there is always a higher challenge to take part in. It is easy to play, but also very complex to know all the attacks and weaknessess of all characters. The characters are also what make the game so good. They are all balanced in some way. Yes, Jigglypuff may seem very bad, but her one-hit KO attack makes her a worthy opponent. Anyway, fighting with friends is fantastic, becuase everyone has their own technique. I like the game becuase it brings back memeories when I was littleler, and can still be enjoyed by all my freinds today. There is always something new when you play it. Other than SSB:M, my second pick would be Medal fo Honor: Frontline, becuase of the funny multiplayer, and becuase it was my first FPS.

well id have to choose marvel vs capcom 2 it has always been my favorite arcade game and it is extremely hard but it is also fun to play with friends it also was my very first non console game i played it has an unlimited amount of combonations of characters but always my favorite combonation is the guy with the blue laser sword the guy with the sword on the side of his arm and the samari it has always been my favorite arcade game and i have always been good at it but the highest level ive been on is the fifth and got second place over all and with that game like in some arcade games you can just randomly press buttons but in this game you have to at least past the secod level know what your doing

This is very easy for me mine is The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion. I love it is just so fun you can do absolutely WHATEVER you want. The are like a million missions todo or you can walk around and do random things. You can kill random people, go and buy stuff, steal peoples items, sell things, go and hunt, solve murders. Basically there is not much you can not do. Just like real life. And mr.B are you guys back in school already???

I know. I had a hard time coming up with mine. Even right now, I might be thinking about changing my mind to something different. But my basic top 3 hardly ever changes.

it was hard for me so i choose a non consle game

I would have to say in my PC era it was Star Wars Dark Forces II. Quake II was pretty good too. Xbox era - Full Spectum Warrior. Nowadays with the 360 nothing (so far) beats Rainbow Six Vegas.

No doubt KFrog. I have no idea why the write ups for both Full Spec Warriors were as low as they were. Absolutely brilliant squad based action. Each game really made you think about how to approach every single stinking corner in the game.

Another game that I think is nearly perfect is Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time. The game is great in every way and is super memorable. It has the best and most memorble music i've ever heard in a game, and the gameplay is perfect. It is one of my all time favorite games next to the ones I metioned earlier.

i havent played the zelda games much
Posted Aug 31, 2007 3:56 pm PT
You should play them. The 3-D ones are some of the best Nintendo games out there (the only 3-D one i don't like is Majora's Mask). They are very good. Wind Waker is like the "diet" versian becuase it has less of everything, but is a good way to introduce you to the gameplay. Ocarina and Twilight Princess are the best of the series. the LoZ franchize is my second favorite series; Halo is my favorite series ... of all time.

Halo huh. It is a great series. I think though if you forced me to put my finger down on a series I would stick with Half-life. If you don't call that a series because there have only been two of them (plus expansion packs), then I would have to say that my favorite series is Splinter Cell. I just love stealth based action and more or less pretending to be this kick butt super spy who gets in a gets out without anybody knowing he (I) was there.

awesome

I'm not into stealth games that much. I like if there is stealth in a game, but not if you get penalized heavily if you get caught. I not a fan of cheap game overs (like tripping an alarm, or getting seen by an enemy you didn't see yourself).
Posted Sep 1, 2007 7:15 pm PT
The Splinter Cell games never give you a game over for an alarm. If you set off three of them maybe, but if you stay under the radar long enough, then your "alarm score" starts to go down again and basically resets itself. But I do understand about the cheap game overs. I just don't think Splinter Cell has them.

i kind of agree with bill it sucks if you just set off an alarm and get a game over i mean if you have a gun you should beable to use it with out the stealth
Posted Sep 3, 2007 8:55 pm PT
I like games where you have the option to use stealth, but you don't have to. Like in Rainbow Six Vegas, you can add silencers to your weapons to be safe and quiet. You can even add a silencer to your Ak-47 along with a scope to have the ultimate quiet weapon.

SAME HERE IT GUST ANOYS ME IN SPLINTER CELL UV GOT A GUN AND U SHOOT SOME AND WEN THEY SHOULD BE DEAD THEY GO AND SET OF AN ALARM

I gotta go with Super Smash Bros. Both the 64 version and Melee for the cube are great games. Easily my favorite multi-player game for all the reasons Lebbin already listed. Streets of Rage for Sega Genesis is another game that will always be one of my favorites.
Posted Sep 4, 2007 12:04 pm PT
Streets of Rage is a great great classic! An awesome beat-em-up that actually went so far as to create characters with different strength areas. Unheard of for the most part during that time of gaming and genre.
Posted Sep 4, 2007 2:58 pm PT
I think they have Streets of Rage as a Xbox Live Download.
Posted Sep 4, 2007 3:15 pm PT
thats awesome i had a sega genisis noot to long ago with 40 games and streets of rage was one of them it was awesome

With the Wii, and the virtual console, it would be cool to play the old great games that came before my generation. I would probibly get some new favorite games too.

NEW FAVORITE!!!! HALO 3!!!!

I loved the oringal Half-Life not because i played the campagin all the way through. But looking back at the start of counter strike sitting all night with other gamers at the new interrnet cafe that was there and playing all night lanning it. Was so memoriable and fun to bad it closed down but they were peak times of DnD and gaming for sure. For me the greatest game is Fallout 2 though 1 was better story wise 2 let me do more. As well Fallout 2 is what really made me as a young girl into a gamer I mean it allowed me to do anything as a adult would even though i wasn't I could be evil or sell myself to men then see that it maybe was a bad idea to kill this guy because now i missed out on a quest. But at the time before i really had a idea of min/max in a game just playing like a dipolmat if i wanted or playing the lone sniper or maybe a scientist i mean the game was so real it was like your own little mmo. I mean it is kind of like my staple of my life.

Sad but true I think if I guy i liked aboustly hated Fallout i would break up with him. Same way I tend to like other fallout players because it is something i love which they share the same love for.
