Well the first Wii reviews are up and so far it has been interesting. Excitetruck, Truama Centre and Monkey Ball all scored roughly what i thought but then Red Steel scored a mid 5 which to be honest i never expected but i was never interested in it anyway so its not that important for me. Now LoZ:TP a game i have waited four years for scores an 8.8. Now im not saying the game is a perfect 10 like some people but an 8.8! The worst part is the reasons he gave.
First of all he criticised the music, the LoZ being famous for having some of the best game music ever, so what if it does have a full blown orchestra. This was followed by criticism for the lack of voice acting, something which has never been included in a LoZ game and i prefer not to be. Finally the review was critical of the lack of evolution brought to the series so the inclusion of horse back combat, the whole new control scheme, the new wolf character and the first implementation of a parellal world since LoZ:ALTTP is not enough? So all of the above is responsible for the what is possibly the best LoZ game in years recieving only an 8.8? Especially when average reviews are around a 9.5. I don't habe any problem with the reviewer i just believe Gamespot management made a BIG mistake placing the review of the Wii's flagship launch title in the hands of well known Wii hater. As much as i would like to see the review amended or possibly re written by another memeber of the gamespot team, this is inpractical and time consuming and do not expect such an outcome.
All i can say is that this ia a dark day for Gamespot reviews and it might not ever recover from the loss of respect this review has casued.
