I am a fan of the show House. Excellent writing and the actors are top notch. I noticed on this show that it seemed like there was a high percentage of Jewish characters on it. I think it's quite great and made a thread to discuss it. But for some reason this little thread I made, which by definition would fit into a minority study, has offended some ppl. Why?
Are so paranoid that we can't even discuss such things reasonably? I mean just look at some my fav shows, and I might be wrong on numbers;
1. Babylon 5- One main jewish character, some minor jewish characters
2. Buffy the Vampire Slayer- One main jewish character, one minor
3. Kim Possible- One main character, two minor
4. House- Three major and quite a few minor
The others have virtually no major jewish characters let alone minor ones. So am I so wrong to want to discuss the subject? Heck..I thought it could be even a good way for those that don't know something about jewish ppl to lesrn something...shame on me I guess.
We have our own sterotypes;
1. Redheads are unlucky
2. Redheads have a short temper.
3. Redheaded women are wild in bed. (Funny..you never see that said about us guys)
And many many more. Most stem from either cultural bias in early america of the irish. Though some redhead myths come from the most ancient days. In egypt, redheads were actually sacrificed to the god Set.
In the middle ages, unsavory characters that range from Satan, Judas and prostitutes would quite often be depicted with redhair.
Even in Britain, ppl with redhair are called ginger. And thats not a good term.
Even today, with the exception of some redheaded ladies, name some redheaded actors/characters.
1. Carrot Top
2. Sideshow Bob
3. Dexter
If you notice, most are comedic or nerds.
But that is just a smokescreen of the blondes and brunettes. Redheads rule!! Some of our more prominent members;
1. King David
2. Queen Elizabeth I
3. Hawkgirl from JLU
4. The Flash from JLU
5. StarFire from Teen Titans
6. Kim Possible
