Wizard Of Gore
So I went into this movie thinking it would be a fun lil gore flick... little did I know there was a dark, trippy plot that is convoluted and deep in all the best ways. I admit, I've never been able to track down a copy of the original 70's...

The Puffy Chair
Wow. A really good road-trip/coming of age type movie focusing on characters that talk and act like people I actually know. The humor scenes and dramatic scenes seem to work really well, imo, b/c of the solid characterization.

The Signal
Surprisingly good take on the modern "zombieish apocalypse"... reminds me of a nicely remade version of "The Crazies" by Romero... of particular interest is the second part where we see the world through the eyes of an...

The Last Winter
I was rather disappointed in this one. from reading the basic premise, I was hoping for a preachy version of "The Thing"... instead, it was rather slow moving, which normally I don't mind if used to heighten suspense or to emphasis the...

The Texas Chainsaw Massacre
This one was rather disappointing. Not the worst remake out there, but does a good job of destroying elements that made the original shine. The biggest thing that irked me about this one is the inclusion of so many night scenes. The fact the...

The Ruins
So, I didn't really like the movie, but I can't decide how much. I was actually impressed w/ the scripting, acting and directing. However, the movie falls into a deep pit of cliches and trendy "post-Hostel" style set-up. Further more,...

Iron Man
What can i say that everyone else hasn't? This movie was a pitch perfect presentation of one of marvel's heavy hitters. This one renewed my faith in Marvel movies and is possibly the best representation of one of their titles on film.

Six-String Samurai
This odd-ball indy flick is often sadly over-looked. I believe b/c its hard to pin it neatly into any one genre (Sci-fi? Action? Kung-fu? comedy?) But it is definitely one of the best post-nuke wasteland adventure stories out there, imo...

Sunshine
I can't believe I'm give a film by Danny Boyle this high of a rating. His films have always felt like watered down, yet overly pretentious versions of other, better movies...

But this one is really good. Boyle's finally found a...

Fido
While not the best Zombie flick out there... this movie really surprised me as being rather funny and a nice twist on the concept.

Diary of the Dead
I admit, the writing and character development was a lil spotty... and they decided to use more tell then show to drive the film... but still, the movie had its own feel and trajectory that I liked... lots of good ghoul smashin... and the lil nods...

1408
Ya know, I really liked the cast... even many of the secondary characters were played by people I like (Tony Shalub and the guy who played Conner in "Primeval")... and 3/4ths of the movie were excellent... creepy, mind warping...

Doomsday
The only reason peeps complain about this not bein a horror flick is cause Marshell directed it, but he NEVER even hinted that it would be.

Instead, we are treated to an action packed postapocalyptic sci-fi filled with small in jokes...

Southland Tales
I liked this one... rather strange movie, kinda comic-bookie, but not in a bad way... reminds me of Araki's movies like "Doom Generation" and "NoWhere"... stark, surrealistic.. and pointing to the bleakness of modern life......

Audition
I was vastly disappointed in this one... while being a fan of psychological thrillers and the splatter-punk sub genre of horror... I thought I'd like Audition in the same way I've liked other great Jap horror stuffs, but I found this one long,...

Ever since I was 6 years old and saw K9 on Dr Who, I've always wanted a robot Dog... and not one of those crappy ones Sony tried pushing a few years ago, but one shaped like a giant shoe-box with a laser in his nose, and an antenna/sucker...

30 Days of Night
It actually makes Vampires scary again! Showing them as cunning inhuman monsters not super-model action heroes.
There were a couple of writing and directorial changes I would make, but a solid horror flick none the less. Bleak, gory, and...

House Of 1000 Corpses
Uninspired and unoriginal bastardization of Texas Chainsaw 2 shot like a bad music video... there were a couple of good scenes, but overall this movie was just derived drivel and is an example of what's wrong with the horror genre post 2000.

The Devil's Rejects
Not as bad as House of 1000 Corpses.. but unoriginal red-neck remake of Last House on the Left only not as brutal and lacking the "darkness under the surface of suburbia" theme of Last House... but the final scene with...

Gummo
I don't understand why this is labeled as a Horror movie on here... but creepy but excellent "coming of age" movie... depicts the down side of living in the "bad part" of a small town.

RoboCop
Excellent bad-ass cyborg movie... heart break, action, ED-209... this movie has it all. The depiction of Murphy as he tries to regain his humanity despite being more machine, are great...

Star Trek: Insurrection
Not the best nor worse Trek movie... If you liked Next Generation, this episode is like a 2 hr long episode of the series with better effects... the characterization was a little off in my opinion... and in way had a fan-fic feel to the way the...
