I decided to drop some serious coin (see, that's hip talk with these kids nowadays ) on some reservations at my store, and here's what I came up with:

September:

Halo 3 Legendary Edition: Yeah, I hear you all whispering "Sucker!" but I just had to have the helmet. It's too cool! So that's $130 out-of-pocket in September...I hope my wife doesn't get too mad.

October:

Half-Life 2 Orange Box: I wavered on this one a bit, but finally decided after playing HL2 on the Xbox I needed to get this one. The additions of Episodes 1 and 2, as well as Portal and Team Fortress for the same $59.99 finally sold me.

Timeshift: We got a really cool promotional video of this game, and after I saw it I thought "Holy Schneikes, that's COOL!" and dropped some cash on this one too. I hope it lives up to the (purported) game-engine demo.

November: A very, very big month!

Mass Effect: I wasn't sure about glomming onto another RPG while I'm still trying to play Oblivion, but I just can't resist this one. It's another one that looks way too cool for it's own good.

Assassin's Creed: Do I really need to say anything?

World in Conflict: Another one that wowed me with a fantastic in-game demo DVD we got at the store. It's an RTS with some really great-looking gameplay, and the preview recently posted on Gamespot (if you haven't read it, what are you waiting for?) confirmed I've probably got another great on on the list.

January 2008:

Too Human: Not sure why, but I'm just intrigued enough by this game to pick it up. I should probably find out more about this one but for right now it looks pretty good.

Dark Sector: A nice write-up in Game Informer magazine sold me on this one. Controlling a glaive similar to the one in the ultra-horrible movie Krull is kewl enough for me to check it out.

April 2008:

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed: So help me, LucasArts, if you delay this game again it had better be the best BLAM!-ing game you've ever put out or I'll never buy another one again! Yeah, I'm kidding but I don't want to wait for this one any longer. Check out the latest trailer to see why.

So there's the list, and I'm still on-the-fence about Two Worlds (yeah, just what I need, another RPG!) and Fracture. I'll probably get Fracture, just because the gameplay footage looks too sweet to resist, but I'll probably wait on Two Worlds, what with Oblivion and Mass Effect on my plate. Whatever your preferred gaming genre, it looks like a great end to 2007 for new releases. Oh, and before you ask, yes I think Bioshock looks great, but I'm going to wait and see if the gameplay is what I want it to be.

The Announcement:

No, this doesn't have anything to do with my time (or lack thereof) on Gamespot, but I will take the opportunity to say to all of you on my friends list that I'm sorry I haven't been posting to your bloggeroos lately, but I've been pretty busy, and when school starts up again it'll be worse. I'll certainly try to get some posts to them though, because you guys and gals deserve input for your hard-written blogs.

Anyway, the announcement: You have all probably read the rumor mill about the reported price-drop for the Xbox 360, and while I can't say anything official (because I've not seen anything yet) I do know there's a big MS annoucement coming on 8 August, and if you haven't purchased a 360 yet, I'd say wait a week. Trade-in values for the used 360 have dropped, so I'm betting the price for the new one will drop as well.

And no, there's still no BLAM!-ing price-point from MS on the Halo 3 Special Edition 360 yet. I'm starting to get frustrated!

A mini-rant, just because:

Is anyone else completely annoyed by the constant mis-pronunciation of Naruto? I mean, really, people (and I'm looking first at YOU, Peter Moore!) how hard is it to understand that it's NAR-uto and not Na-ROO-to? Give me a break! Even our lovely idgits on GamestopTV (which we show at the store all freakin' day long) can't say it right! It's a dad-gum Japanese name and the accent is on the first syllable! Stop trying to American-ize the name already, and just say it right for crying out loud!

PS: After I posted this I saw Denis put up a Top-Ten anticipated games for 2007. I didn't shank your idea, boss, honestly. You are still the master, I am but a learner.

We pretty much have the same tastes in games, since most of your list I am anticipating myself. And, so help me God, if they decide to delay The Force Unleashed after delaying GTA IV, I think I'll go nuts.

You spent a whole lot of money which equals lots of fun!

You've already americanized everything else so what's Naruto added to the list?

Anyway Too Human is gonna be great (assuming of course SK can get over the UT 3 engine) at least it should be.

As should Bioshock.

Oh I've NEVER said nar-OO-to......*whistles to self* What a list you've got- I'm sure hanging out at Gamestop must fuel your gaming fire constantly. Can't wait for Assassin's Creed, just like the rest of the world- can't say I'll be picking up the rest of the games on the list...too much testosterone for me!

There are a couple games on that list of yours I can't wait to get my hands on but I just dropped my own big chunk of change and won't be buying too many brand new games in the next couple months since I am in the slow season now..well for the next two months anyway.

As for the Naruto thing...I feel the same way...drives me insane..the worst version I have heard of it was something like na-ROO-do. I had to fight hard to not be rude and correct them...they thought they knew a lot...

too many games, foaming at mouth. once the price drops and they start putting in those smaller, cooler chips i'm gonna get me a 360.

as for naruto, it was hilarious during E3, the stage demo of it, the guy from Ubisoft kept saying it one way and the GS reporter kept saying it another way. i was so confused, the game looks fun but the show is not up there for me at least.

I don't talk to any anime geeks so I've always read it Narooto in my head. Fortunately I haven't "embarassed" myself as I never say the word to anybody (I'm not really sure what it is, to tell you the truth. Is it Mr. Naruto? Who knows?). Some interesting choices you've made there. I'm unsure on most of them so I'm waiting until I get to the preordering for now.

Interesting news about the 360. Not that I'll be getting one, but if they drop the price right after the PS3 price drop ... ouchie for Sony, yet again.
